What are new players going yo do about multiplayer?

I saw some comments on Youtube saying the Legendary Edition will be the very first time they will play Mass Effect. So I was wondering, after they finish the single player campaign, since the Legendary Edition doesn't include multiplayer, what are their options? Will they want to try it out? Are we about to get a ton of new players? Will they bother to go buy a cheap used copy of ME3 just for the multiplayer? Do they still need the online pass? Is it still available?
I just watched a Youtube video saying new players can't play the multiplayer because the online pass is no longer available. But one of the comments said it is available for free.
So what's the story? What info is accurate? I want to know because after all these years I just started my own Youtube gaming channel & I was planning on using ME3 multiplayer to get started to learn how to do it. I was thinking I could help new players. But will there be any?
