Hey all,
So I've already played Anthem on XBOX-One. But now that Game Pass now has EA Play on PC, I dl'd Anthem and figured I'd give it a whirl. Just to experience the superior graphics, framerate and k+m control(??). Maybe a quick campaign playthrough, no more.
Is there a list of high-level stuff to know going in? Like: I already encountered an issue where if I alt-tab out of the game, I could not figure out how to get the game visible again! Known solution?
Would I be better off using keyboard for flight? Is mouse better (or even an option)? I could even pull out my TM Hotas setup if joystick is superior. Recommended key bindings (initially find the control for dash a bit clunky)?
Stuff like that. (I have a 2070, so I think I can leave all the graphics at Ultra).
TIA!

Flying best with M+KB … not sure how just one or the other would work.
For dash, I use the middle mouse button (wheel). Right click center mouse wheel for hover, left click for ultimate. "R" for melee. Default keys for direction and jump.
Left CTRL for push-to talk.
Mouse buttons for power 1, 2 and 3 (the support power). If you don't have a programmable mouse, not sure what keys would be best, I left keyboard power commands behind a long time ago.
For alt-tab, I use windowed-borderless … works fine.
I back off the GeForce experience setting by one, so that DLSS is active … optimum setting (far right) turns DLSS off. Admittedly, my GPU is loafing along at that point, but I don't see any visual degradation. Several months ago, depending on the driver version, DLSS resulted in some funky degraded visuals but that seems to be resolved … it was a simple fix if that happened to me, just use the optimum (firewalled to the right) settings, which turns DLSS off.

Thanks Grinch!
Yes, I now see that MMB is defaulted to dash (L-ctl also defaults as secondary). Alas, I only have a std mouse with just wheel scroll/click. And yeah, I find I don't have near enough controls at hand. Unlike XBOX controller. Will take a while to adjust. Meanwhile, I struggled badly against "Reaver"!
And the alt-tab issue hasn't reoccurred.

"Back in the day," when I had an awesome mouse that had very limited number of button options, assigning controls to those buttons changed my entire gaming experience. Later, I got a new programmable mouse, more buttons that didn't rely on the game setup to control.
I didn't go the route of an MMO-style programmable mouse, but it gave me enough options to pretty much keep my right hand on the mouse, left hand on the keyboard and not require moving my left hand from the default key positions.
For me, it removes any justification for a control pad (the missing control input for a mouse in the MEA SP hang time achievement is the exception). Wireless mice are supposed to be much better than they once were, WRT lag, but I still use a wired mouse and keyboard.
Once upon a time, decent gaming mice could be pricey, but now, I don't think that is a big impediment … you can still go for something fairly expensive, however there are very good alternatives that won't break the bank.

Yeah, I have 3 or 4 mice that I bought just for games. I recall getting one of those bazillion button MMO ones with just never jibed with me (buttons far too small and closely packed). So I went to some well-rated (Razer Naga Hex, Logitech 602, Gigabyte 6800) ones with fewer buttons. While more reasonable, I just never got the hang of either and returned to my trusty, very old, Dell wired 3-button mouse that came with a PC who knows how long ago. ... and suffer through it.

The best thing to do is uninstall it and save around 80GB of space.

You could play with the controller on PC if you are more used to that. I tried both in the beginning but overall felt more comfortable with MKB like in shooters and such I play. The reason why I even tried the controller was because I was mainly playing Interceptor and hardly fired weapons at all and thought it might be better to play with a controller like I play some hack & slash and fighting games.
You can adjust several FOV settings in the PC version which you cannot do in the console versions.

Thanks XCPTL!
I got used to the K+M really quickly. Though experimenting away from my default Ranger, I'm having to again adjust to more charged/hold abilities (ranger's are mostly one click so worked well with MW up/down). But TBH, I'm at that endless grind point and am weaning myself off the game. On your other post today, yes, the game does some things really well. But besides for the loot progression (a mess), for me they'd really have to add a lot more content, in particular story.** So for me, their investment would have to be pretty major to keep me around.
[** though for some reason, I do return to ME3's MP for hundreds of hours at a time, burn out, then return again 1-2 yrs later. Even though no story]
BTW, AnthemEnclave is a great resource for the game! Did anyone ever update a stat/builder page? Last I saw was Javelin-stats.com which is apparently gone (and hadn't updated to L80 gear anyway). In particular, I'm curious about the max values for each inscription type. And exactly what gear holds what. I do have a decent feel for it, but like seeing it definitively.

I think the javelin builder was cancelled because the person who wanted to program it didn't have time for it. I'm not sure if the existing page itself will even get more updates now that Anthem Next has been cancelled.
