On the other hand, Engineer and Soldier consistently rank among the lowest of the six classes across the trilogy for me. They're not bad classes, as they each have some pretty enjoyable builds; I just get bored with them more easily than the other four. My first class was Soldier and I stuck with it throughout the trilogy. But in my second playthrough I discovered Sentinel and it is my favorite class of the two. Soldier is standard warrior class with no variety except shoot. Sentinel offers various choices for different situations.

Sentinel is great. You should definitely try the other classes out. I want to try the Vanguard or Infiltrator next. Vanguard is my favorite but I admit to being wooed in ME2 with Biotic Charge and then in three when Nova was added to the mix. That charge/nova combo...damn.

Ideally I would be on Team Backhand and Headbutt with my 2 Krogan buddies In ME 2 and 3 the answer is Team Biotics for those visceral effects. The biotic charge was a nice addition to ME2 and I really liked the biotic freight train Shockwave. Unfortunately, it got scrapped for a more boring version in ME3 imho. ME3 offcourse has more emphasis on combo's and it's always fun setting off those blue booms. Not sure about ME1 since biotics are dialed up way past 11. I guess it's pretty fun to lift a Geth Collosus but being rag dolled for an eternity by biotic enemies? Not so much. In general I would also say it depends on how much you want to manage Shepard's squad mates. Some setups work fine independently and others benefit from a more direct control of team powers.

Team Biotics - My favorite class in each game in the trilogy comes from this pool. Vanguard is the class I would consider the best averaged out across all three games. The ME2 Adept might be my favorite individual class. If not, it's in the top three. As with Vanguard, Sentinel is solid in all three games (In 3, it needs tweaking to stand out). I have to play a Sentinel again in ME1:LE to see if I prefer it over the Vanguard or not.
