Honestly if I do make the plunge and buy this game again I might just get it via steam so I dont have to directly deal with origin Honestly Strongly suggest you do NOT do that! I've read about sooo many problems with this game and Steam, and you still have to go through Origin anyway. Maybe they've got the bugs worked out (they've had a few months!). But it isn't worth it, IMO. Origin sux, but it's the cleanest way to PC play.
Sadly, there used to be occasional great Origin deals on ME games. I even got ME3 for free many moons ago. More recently, ME3 for $3-5, all DLC for ~$9-12. But I haven't seen any in a while and suspect we won't. They want to funnel everyone to purchase MELE.

Oh really? Wasn't aware of that, always assumed Steam was the safe reliable launcher

Have you tried launching the game from inside Origin? Does Origin see it as installed? The only way I see this working is if you install the DLCs from inside Origin by clicking the “extra content” tab from the game menu in Origin. I know the first option you’ll see is the one with the DLC bundle pack, but if you scroll down, iirc, you’ll see the MP packs which are free to install... No thats the problem, even though its the same account I'm using, origin doesn't recognise that I have ME3 downloaded via EA desktop so in order to play via origin its asking me to pay for the game and re-download. Basically if there was a library sync between the 2 launchers I dont think I would be having this issue OK. But does Origin see you as having EA play? Because if it does then you can go through Origin's EA play to add it to your library:

You've made all the appropriate sacrifices right?
Salt from the tears of people trying to hold the LZ. Echoes of a teammate that fell through the floor in Rio. Eyes of someone that's played an enraged Krogan using Geth Scanner on FBW:Hazard while outside. Ears of one who has heard the old Drell use Reave on loop. Toes of a Krogan Warlord that's been sync'd by a Banshee. (look at em wiggle. Best when fresh.)
There are a couple substitutes involving rolling a Volus named Volusisyphus up a very large hill (then back down it) but I'm not sure it'll work as well as the tears.
