Questions on ME3 MP Shutting Down

I know nothing about making video games, but how hard would it be to add multiplayer to LE later on down the line if they wished too?

I wish they would have included it. Then I'd get it for sure. Too bad they didn't and I can't see why. Yes, it means more work like larsdt mentioned but it's not like the MP was dead on arrival or anything. It is still being played 9 years after the release of the game and seeing people ask about the servers shutting down in the official forums should be a slight indication that it would have been worth it to add MP as well in the LE.

One might argue that they probably looked at the number of active players over the years and checked how many people paid or are still paying for boxes but given Bioware's lack of expertise in some areas of game development I'm not so sure they even went this obvious route and checked at all.

They should have just included the current MP3 multiplayer with the legendary edition and added cross play so the console scrubs could play with the PC cheats. That would have been incentive enough for a lot of people to get the legendary edition.

While they are at it, they could include the year of Dev support and do the Weekly Ops again. Hell, even I might get the LE if they did that

The thing is though... they pretty much fucked up in one way or another with every game they made since then. And if I remember correctly the ME3MP was outsourced back then and done by a different team/studio and Bioware only did the updates and nerfs and such. Maybe the DLCs, not quite sure though. 

But yes, I agree with you... the reasoning is pretty lame. 


In other news: there is a master collection coming soon for Ninja Gaiden and they removed the online coop part in the second game and the online part in the third game as well. So it's a thing apparently to go this route. Unfortunately they are including Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 in the collection and not the original Ninja Gaiden 2 which was soooo much better. But the online coop in Sigma 2 was fun so I'm sad to see it won't be included.

Lol yup the first level is basically the hardest because of those explosive shurikans. Remember the turtle/armadillo thing that blew up and would insta-kill you after u killed it (if you didn't run like hell when its health reaches 0)

I'd buy JUST the MP for ... well, I'd probably pay $60 because I'm an idiot, but at $10-20 I wouldn't even give it a second thought. Anything higher than that though and I'd have higher expectations. If they would just update the visuals/lighting/effects and have widescreen support built in, fix some of the long standing bugs, and improve the 'store' experience, that would be great. Ideally they'd add in the unfinished maps, and maybe even open up the pre & post change maps as additional options.

Personally I've always wanted a mode with fewer waves, but challenges/objectives every other wave... and it would be great to have more enemies on the map at once. I did enjoy Arkhne's modded lobbies. Imagine if you could build those inside the game with custom modes?

It won't happen, they won't support this release anymore than they need to. The skeptic in me believes that this is merely an opportunity to try and get the fans back on their side given how disappointing the last few games have been. If there is any mp it will be with the next Mass effect game

In my memory, those were the darkest of days.  Every new gun that was released was Spectacular!  I remember the old Typhoon, the Piranha, the Krysae....  and a slew of others.  This was all by intention, of course.  Basically all that the developers did was nerf every weapon and smurf every new kit about a week (give or take) after it was released.  This was probably amazingly profitable, because a slew of players wanted to keep up with us in terms of raw DPS and topping the Whoreboards.

  (Quoting Jeremy Irons in Margin Call) There's a few ways to make it in this business: 1) Be Smarter, 2) Be First, or 3) Cheat - and I don't cheat.  So, how did I make it into the lofty realm of top hat, twirled mustache, monocle and Tiffany cufflinks?  It's pretty simple, really.  I have over 4500 hours played in the course of over 16,800 games.  I got off of work at 1:30 PM and was playing from 2 PM until 8 or 9 PM every single night of the work week.  Guess where my weekends were spent?  That's right, fighting the Reaper War in Pugland.  Like the song goes by Stevie Ray Vaughan - I am stranded, caught in the Crossfire! 

  So many Wave 11 disconnects, dumbasses with rockets, Krogan that don't return headbutts, Reegar Vanguardians, snap cheesers, Fire Base White in full Blood Rage - you know the deal.  I've actually revived people so many times that they left the game - it still makes me laugh.

  I still play the game because its just so fun.  You queue it up, load up your kit, and watch fools put armor penetration on a damn Scorpion II and think, "yeah, this is gonna be fun."  I certainly had fun, my teammates not so much.  Some days you have to cook fools in the Hazard Reactor.  Other days you Reave a few low health Posessed A-Boms from across the map and slink off while laughing like a maniac.  Most days I'm not like that, but I have been known to murder my whole team if they annoy me enough.  

  Recently this has changed somewhat though - there are not as many players around.  I guess the Genophage has run its course, and we have to treat every person as special.  Solos really aren't that fun, even if the saying goes that in sex and poker you don't need a partner if you have a good hand.
