I think we are giving Bioware too much credit. As if "logic" plays any part in their character design. Just look at Jack and Ashley's transition to ME3. Unique sure but they make no sense in the Alliance military. And I always wondered how Jack's hair could grow this long in 6 months . Poor Kelly. Neither ME3 nor MELE has done her any favors . Personal preference offcourse but don't fix what ain't broken...

Well, I'll just chip in and support anyone wanting Kelly to change her appearance back to OG status. The other characters I don't mind as much, their screen time is limited, but you see Kelly a lot and most importantly she's an LI and should therefor be treated with extra care. Imagine if they had made Miranda light brunette and made her hair short, I'm decently sure there would be outrage given people cried their heads off about not seeing her butt in a cut-scene. People change their appearance all the time. Some new hair colour isn't really a big deal. Looking completely different would be

Kelly is far from my favorite character but I know if alterations like this had happened to one of my favorites I would have been upset. Considering her screen time is less in ME3 than ME2 it would have made far more sense to make the changes in ME3 rather than the opposite. Feel free to disagree.

And I always wondered how Jack's hair could grow this long in 6 months . Hair implants Weird to choose graying hair implants, as well. I'm frankly amazed at Bioware capacity of fucking Jack over. I mean, the precision with which they do it is just magnifique One day, I'm going to learn ZBrush, make a high poly version of Jack and give it to the world, to do it the justice Bioware never did.

She never appeared in ME3. Only the odd changes in other characters is what I can refer to. Hardest was probable the harsh difference between ME1 and ME2/3 Shepard. And Liara getting steadily more chest size.

Why did they feel the need to redo Kelly of all people? Different eyes, nose, lips, hairdo, everything, and it doesn't look like much of an improvement to me. Kelly is in ME2 and ME3, both of which were made using the Unreal 3 engine, so there's not even a technical reason for the redesign. Who knows, maybe Kelly's original model is in the barn with Pinnacle Station. I know I'm weeks late in replying to this, so apologies if I'm retreading old ground. Kelly looked great in ME2. Her face was unique and clearly had higher quality textures than most peripheral NPCs. That face couldn't translate to ME3. When we reconnected with her in ME3, we met a generic, Character Creator NPC that looked nothing like the Kelly we knew from ME2. I assume the MELE team decided to make the difference less jarring by unifying her look across the two games. I prefer her original face, personally, but I understand why they tried.

Super late to this convo but the main problem with Kelly is lighting and hairstyle/colour. Her face is exactly the same. I took a screenshot in better lighting and flipped it.

Depends on the person some people like hair seems to grow back faster and it generally takes about 6 months for my hair to grow back after a hair cut.
I always thought Ash's new look was basically she was either going straight to sister's wedding and she didn't have time to get hair put up and her outfit was a "special forces military dress uniform" because had to deliver a report the Alliance leaders and that is what she was expected to wear and she did she had because she wasn't planning on going to Alliance HQ that long regardless, and she out of action for about half of the story and wasn't able to go shopping and by the time she could go shopping an official Alliance uniform didn't seem to matter since she was Specter and Shepard could wear whatever the hell s/he wanted so why bother.
