sugarless I ended up enabling anisotropy at 16x in Nvidia Control Panel, as well as DSR, then setting my in-game resolution to 4K (which then scales down to 1440p for my monitor). I think that might have helped a little bit, but it's difficult to tell. What does make a difference at least outside of combat are the Nvidia filters I applied for exposure/contrast and detail. In-combat, well, I'm still getting angry sim face. Maybe it's a teensy bit better since at least the lighting is improved. If you apply filters, you do have to save your photo mode images with your normal screenshot key, NOT with the spacebar. In-game photo mode does not save Nvidia's filter effects. Here are some before (no Nvidia filters) and after (with Nvidia filters) examples. Combat photos from the arena: Photo mode: Cutscenes: I don't know why the option is gone to click the images to view them full size. Maybe because of the spoiler tags? Some of the differences are easier to see at full resolution, but ah well. Right-clicking to open the image in a new tab does open the full size version. Good job Flickr for behaving. Wow! I do notice the differences and the level of detail is amazing! I have to admit I forgot to mention that I had my in-game brightness set to +10 because everything, including the shadows were too dark, which is why I never used the bright/contrast settings in the filters. But your screenies look incredible - the brightness/contrast filter is really making a difference even if it's subtle enough to make the textures pop more. I can see Javik's micro wrinkles
I just have to wonder though, there are areas of combat and non-combat where Shepard's skin looks completely dull and flat - and no amount of filtration helps. I wonder if that was just BW being slack or if it's just my pc/card etc.
Looking forward to seeing more of your screenshots now that you have tweaked your settings. I will play around with my settings and see if I can get close to this level of amazing detail too - thanks for the tips!

Eden Prime with Garrus and Liara. When I think back (not so long ago) to MELE ME1, that Eden Prime looked so much nicer with detailed trees and mountains than the one in ME3.
I wonder how long Cerberus had those Sanctuary posters/ads going leading up to Shepard's reinstatement as Commander.
My besties.
Another vision. Incoming!

In my first PT the brightness was 0 and man Feros was a nightmare couldn't see anything. This time just to see if it made a difference I set it to +2 and low and behold Feros was better. Will try +10 as the game is still dark for me in most places, I just thought that was how the game was supposed to be.

Seriously, I think that BW were trying to save on CPU/video card power or something by making everything darkish back then in 2012, due to slow loading times between missions/certain scenes.
Now waiting time between locations/missions is minimal so I wonder why they didn't lighten everything up with this remaster.

Its just HDR it seems like. Did a lot of experimenting on this when I first got the LE and everything else and ultimatley it was just a HDR issue because when I turned it off everything was working peachy keen. And I remember this being an issue with Odyssey and Vahalla as well back in the day and playing Vahalla without HDR on as well since then made the game a lot brighter.
I don't know what it is since HDR is supposed to make everything better just not darker, so I have heard, will continue to try and experiment when the PS5 comes out.

HDR is amazing, and I'll never game without it again. You cannot, however, just turn it on and expect good results. Everything will appear dark and overly saturated with color.
You have to calibrate your settings while it's active. I play on console (PS4 Pro) on a Sony XBR tv. The input on which I have the PS4 is calibrated for HDR. The PS home menu looks vaguely too bright and intense when I exit a game and HDR10 deactivates. It's not uncomfortable, but definitely noticeable. The important thing is that it looks great when HDR10 is active during gaming or other HDR capable functions. (I really only game with my PS4.)
I've found that it makes sharing photos tricky. My pics are taken in HDR. If someone views them without HDR, they look dark and overly saturated. Imagine that.
More and more streaming services (like Netflix, in my case) are offering content with HDR. It makes for so much better an experience. Non-HDR, a lot of detail is lost in dark scenes. With HDR, it's more life-like. As in real life, you can see detail just fine as long as ambient light is sufficient. Colors are cleaner and crisper, too, which is sort of the point, I guess.

So I mucked around with the HDR and Brightness today and the best result for me was to leave HDR on (Auto) and to up brightness to 5. Turning HDR off for me reduced the sharpness of armour textures most noticeably.

Its just HDR it seems like. My monitor doesn't have HDR at all, and I still have to have the brightness turned up on my game Maybe I just like brighter images than some people do.

I have a HD/UHD/SHD ? monitor so HDR doesn't work for me. Nevertheless I have been frigging around with all the settings today and getting mixed results. Some good, some awful. Thank god you can revert the settings to default
Sanctum with James and Garrus.
No filters but standing under a very bright light. Decided to rely on tech powers and a sniper rifle for this mission.
Cerberus troops normally drop down from the upper floor but this one remained there, so we had to blow him up from below.
What did Hackett do with all the samples of reaper tech we found him...hmmm?

I tend to go wit ha shotgun for that mission on Sanctum given most of the enemies are close range.

I've found HDR makes everything super dark, and I found it to be the worst on cyberpunk. However, I haven't retried it again on PS5 yet to see any sort of difference. I think from memory on the ps4 I just cranked the TV brightness up and hoped for the best

I took dragontartare's advice and made my monitor screen full HD resolution - yikes. I don't know if it's even noticeable in the screenshots but it was in gameplay there were details I had never seen before, like wrinkles on my Shepard's face yay!
Great screenshots guys. Here's mine from Sur'Kesh with Garrus and James, today.
Not just visitors today. A Salarian body was just tossed onto me when Cerberus first started taking shots - that's new (Garrus' expression says it all!)
Nothing is ever simple with Salarians...

I could see myself running with a Shep like that at some stage. No tyet obviously as I'm running with a male shep atm and I als ohave a look in mind already for my next femshep who's going to be an infiltrator when I get round to her.
