Found my first thresher maw on a random planet in ME1, and having no luck killing it. I seem to remember it being quite easy years ago, but i can't remember what strategy I used.
Anyone done it yet, or got any tips?

I've taken down three on insanity difficulty, this is what I've done: - Enter the fight with a good deal of omni-gel, I didn't beat any Maw without at least one repair and sometimes three.
- Circle the Maw using your missile and fire the gun constantly while the missile is cooling down.
- Keep enough distance, you want to be far enough away so that you don't get all the acid damage but can still hit it.
- When the Maw shoots acid, hit boost and sometimes it'll miss you.
- Head to higher ground if you need to recover.

Well back when the game first came out, I remember I use to stay far back and shoot it. When he spits I would use the thrusters to jump over the acid. Worked back in the day. Don't know if this strategy still works. My game is still and the mail sadly.

O or S patterns wit the Mako. Keep your distances and always on the move.
Master the art of attacking and driving toward different directions too.

There's only certain spots it pops up, always in flat terrain. Find a small hill to sit on, jump jet over the acid (or strafe, if on foot, which is faster late game or new game+) and whack a mole shoot it till it dies.

Cheese method?
1) If you can still enable the console in the .ini, do that.
2) Type "upgradevehicle 6 vehthrusterforcebooster"
3) Wreck the Maw by forcing it to emerge, strafe it with zoomed cannon until he hides.
4) Start driving in any direction if you are undamaged, and repeat. If for any reason you suspect it is about to come out of the ground right under you to wreck your shit Kalros-style, launch yourself out of the Maw's "lair" radius, and Omni-Gel if necessary.
5) Repeat. You can also cheese them just using verticality and good aim, but it is riskier due to RNG Kalros attack.

Find a small hill to sit on, jump jet over the acid (or strafe, if on foot, which is faster late game or new game+) and whack a mole shoot it till it dies. This is my strategy as well. It's important to find a small hill to camp on, because the thresher maws only travel on the lower flat areas. By camping on a hill, you'll never have a thresher maw burst right underneath you. Then, you just need to time your booster jumps to avoid its acid attack, and you can damage it over time. The only time you would need to move from the hill is if the thresher maw spawns close to you, in which case it can use its claws to damage the Mako. So just move to another hill if this happens, then rinse and repeat. That's based on my experience with the original ME1 on PC at least, not sure about Legendary Edition changes.

I don't think that works anymore....it attacks like the Threser maw on ME2 on steroids. 1 blast is now 3 or 4, it tracks you, ect. Stasis doesn't work. Its been completely changed.

But I think it depends on what tactics you prefer to adopt. Personally I don't know though as O haven' t played it yet.

OK I was having issues with Thresher Maws, until I discovered what the issue was:
In the Options menu under Controls is a thing called 'Mako relative steering'.
Turning this off enabled me to fight the Thresher Maw, using my old method of circling around it and firing. Having Mako Relative Steering (which is enabled by default) on meant that it was hard to move and shoot at the same time as the gun was always relative to the direction of the Mako's Hull.

I don't think the blasts track you, they are fired in the direction you are moving to. So when the Maw spits acid, stop and reverse to avoid it. Pretty easy when you figure it out.

LE Thresher Maws are harder, I just noticed on Trebin. They now have 3 to 5 projectiles spread out, so the old in/out (well back and forth) did not work EEK! Also I'm a bit lost with the gamepad controls for Mako (and very disapointed I have to use pause&wheel to launch powers :/ I didnt know it was this way originally as I've always played on PC) - have to try that original mode before leaving Trebin tomorrow.

I wish we could jump or better, have jetpacks to evade When I first played, I had some difficulties. It's a matter of getting your groove down. Once you do, you'll never again take a hit. BTW, my "jump" I mean boost upward with the Mako.

First attempt at taking down a ME1 thresher maw on foot was an abysmal failure. A high-level soldier Shepard with Immunity can survive several acid hits, but the screen shakes violently whenever the maw moves now, making it impossible to move Shepard. I survived the maw moving about three times, but on the fourth, he moved to a spot directly under where my Shepard was standing for an instant death. From this, I don't think it really possible to take them out on foot anymore (at least on insanity difficulty... and probably on pretty much any other difficulty as well unless the maw doesn't move around at all on the easiest difficulty. I'm saddened by this... I'm going to have to relearn using the mako on them. Dang, I loved letting Wrex hit them with his warp... and always wanted to tell Wreav how Wrex and I always took the maws down on foot, so Grunt's Rite of Passage was no big deal. (sigh).
Attempt 2 basically confirmed the above. Shepard can survive several acid attacks, but eventually the maw will make a run directly at Shepard and emerge right beneath his/her feet and kill him/her instantly. This pattern also occurs with a mako, but it has a better shot at getting out of the way.
ETA: Repeated a few more attempts with the maw on Edolus. The definite pattern in my game (Xbox One, Insanity) is for the maw to move 3 times and pop up at a location away from Shepard... and then on the 4th move, take a path directly towards Shepard and pop up under him/her for the instant death. With the mako, it makes the same 3 moves, coming up at some point where the mako isn't. On the 4th move, it will literally chase the mako... it chased me for 2 circles around it's area. It wasn't until I left its area when it retreated from the chase (going back to the center by the destroyed tank and bodies and disappearing). It popped back up when I re-entered its area and the fight resumed for another 3 pop=ups before it made another beeline chase of the mako.
Conclusion, it may be possible to still kill them on foot on an easier difficulty... IF Shepard has enough powers and fire power to take it down quickly enough (i.e. before that 4th pop up). I'm not able to do it that quickly on insanity though. (Hope renewed for once I get the insanity achievements and will try the game at an easier level.)

Also staying on th eedges if possibnle of the Thresher maws territory in the even tyou need to retreat and recharge certainly helps as wel doing that at leas ton the original helps as wel when I have to engage these things. But this is on the original however no tthe remaster tbh.

My first one I finished on foot. I think my guns and warp did more damage. Than the mako, basically I strafed as best I could with the terrible mako controls as I did not know there was a option to turn off the drive where the gun points thing. When I ran out of omnigel, I hopped out and killed it with guns.
