I gotta go with MELE mako, the Nomad still handles better but MELE upgraded the handling adequately and the weapon upgrade feels good. Not having a weapon hurts the nomad.

Um, what about the Hammerhead? I'm sure it would be the top choice if it were an option.

Andromeda would need some beefier enemies to justify weapons on the Nomad. Having them would be nice, but it doesn’t mean much if we only use our vehicle to bombard small mobs we can wipe out in seconds on foot.

They could have done similar stuff with remnant.

It would’ve helped to make the open world feel more dangerous outside of the vehicle. Other than the environmental hazard, it was largely a walk in the park. Even fiends weren’t that dangerous.

So far I will go with the Nomad it's the still the best vehicle/mount that BioWare has ever done. It's fun to drive and run over enemies and jump out of into battle.
The original versions of both the Mako and the Hammerhead both sucked ass due to their piss poor handling and shitty targeting systems and the Mako being slow and unresponsive and the Hammerhead also had crappy armor plating. They were so bad that in ME3 had a scene where Cortez and Vega's shared their opinions about them as a way for BioWare to make fun of themselves and throw some much needed lampshade on how bad both vehicles sucked and to explain why they didn't bring either one of them back in ME3 for Shepard and company to ride around in.
I haven't gotten to the Mako and Hammerhead in ME:LE yet, but I'm not expecting much of improvement.

Never liked the Hammerhead much. It always felt gimmicky... not to mention the tissue paper armor. Seriously, the designers must have soaked some Kleenex in water, stuck it on the sides of the vehicle and thought "That's a job well done".

Why do I sometimes get the feeling that I am the only person to not have any problems with either the Mako or Hammerhead, quibbles with the Hammerhead's auto-targeting aside? Is it because I played on console with a controller? I am genuinely curious.

I have driven LE Mako and its Nomad for sure - New controls are a bit floaty feeling, but the car doesnt get bouncycastle immediately which is good.

I haven't gotten to the Mako and Hammerhead in ME:LE yet, but I'm not expecting much of improvement. From what I understand, members of the Need for Speed team were actually brought on to help with the vehicle dynamics, which would explain why the Nomad was so much better performance-wise. The Mako does feel pretty different, though still bouncier and erratic than the Nomad. One notable change is the addition of the booster rockets similar to the Nomad, except the bursts are shorter and can’t be upgraded like the Nomad’s can. Another change that I’m quite fond of is the sound effect of the weapons. Both single and rapid fire cannons have this satisfying scifi gun noise and it feels a lot better to mow down adds from a distance with them. I think in the end the thing that might still annoy with the Mako is that you have to traverse over these bouncy mountains and chasms everywhere. I get that these would be things you’d find on these barren terrestrial worlds, but it makes traveling a mile take a lot longer than it needs to be. As a side note, they fixed the wall at Therum. There’s no way to get through now lol

They don’t feel like alien worlds or city ruins we’re traversing. They feel like an old Frogger or Mario game. The biggest offenders are the lava rivers with convenient rocks floating on them, and the oversized fans that vent exhaust upward to give us a boost. ME2 typically has atrocious map design for its encounters, but the Firewalker/Overlord stuff take the cake.

I'm a hardcore console player. I couldn't play a game with a keyboard and a mouse if my life depended on it. The Mako was only fun to drive on the Skyway on Feroes, where it seems to be the only place where it actually works, it just sucked all the fun out climbing the damn mountains on the damn uncharted worlds.

New mako handles much, much better than the old. My favorite is still the Nomad BECAUSE it doesn't have guns. Pew Pew'ing everything from the mako is absolutely boring as anything. I haven't fought a thresher maw yet... but I'm guessing I'm still going to prefer to fight them on foot if they haven't totally screwed them up so that it can't be done on foot.
The nomad in combination with the terrain in Andromeda is also, quite simply, way more fun to drive... like the difference between driving a delivery truck and a dune buggy.

I haven't tried fighting the thresher maws on foot, but they spam their acid attack, and they're quite accurate. Even when speeding along in a circle around the maw, I took a fair amount of damage before it finally went down. I'm not keen on finding out how quickly they'd strip Shepard's health. I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you're on a high level character with a high end gun that can shoot endlessly, because they're pretty spongy.

That is my plan... I've been avoiding any thresher maw fights to this point until I get my character to a sufficiently high level and with the spectre gear. It used to be that, on foot, Shepard could consistently outrun the acid attack. Squad mates would usually go down, but my Shepard would just keep running circles around the maw until he whittled away all its health. I haven't fought a maw from the mako in years, so if I have to relearn how to do it that way even with the improved mako handling... well, my death counter is probably going to skyrocket.

ah yes, the Mako, hammerhead or the sports car. With the Mako, the player can use weapons to defeat an enemy. The Hammerhead is made of balsa wood, but can move side-to-side avoiding damage. The sports car carried a shrink ray gun so that 3 characters can shrink themselves to fit in the car. The sports car might be nice to show off to whoever, but I would take the Mako when exploring new territory just in case I run into an enemy
