This feature should really be off by default. It is a horrible change, it makes the Mako nearly undrivable.
Out of curiosity does anyone actually like it on?

Took me a while to realize what was happening, but I think it's a fine change. It makes driving with zoom on excellent...with keyboard and mouse anyways.

Yeah, I definitely prefer the classic steering on mouse and keyboard. I like being able to aim in a different direction than I'm driving.
Other than that and the boost, did anyone notice any changes to the Mako's handling? It feels pretty much the same to me.

That change was the reason I drove off the highway on Feros I like new shooting feel and boosters but driving itself is not better, just different.

+1 for driving off the Feros highway (went there first after Citadel). No idea why relative steering is the default, lol.

The new driving is clumsy and makes it harder to do circles around thresher maws but so far on insanity I've had no deaths due to it. A few close calls but for insanity that's fair I feel.

I do. It feels more like the Hammerhead in ME2 which is fine by me.

It feels every bit as bouncy and wayward as the vanilla Mako. I don't find it a problem as I'm used to the vanilla Mako.
To begin with I found the new Mako very, very awkward to control. Something about it just felt completely off - but that was before I discovered the relative steering option. Once that's toggled off everything's fine. Fought two Thresher Maws so far with no problems at all.

Thank god for this thread, I didn't know that was an option I could turn off. Congrats bioware you managed to make default driving worse than before. I never had a problem driving on PC before, now I do. That first thresher maw was pure suck due to this.

I was going nuts trying to drive the first couple planets then I found the option to turn it off. "Congrats Bioware, you managed to make default driving worse than before." I thought the exact same thing.

This info is pure gold. I can preemptively turn off this setting before encountering the frustration.
I always liked the Mako and could drive it like a boss, shoot accurately at distant colossi, etc... Adding a boost and maybe a bit less bounce is cool. There's no need to screw with the camera. I love my high speed, mobile combat vehicle. I drive circles around thresher maws while unloading cannon blasts.
