Does anyone know the difference between saving the Council and letting them die? I think in the OT it didn't matter all that much, with letting them die being a bit higher score. Just wondering if it's the same way this time.
edited to add: What's a decent-ish number of war assets to expect when first starting ME3? I'm assuming it takes the Rachni and Wrex being alive into account.

On the first page, I posted this image both squadmates killed by Harbinger, blue and red were available, had memorial scene, relays exploded, SR2 stuck on unknown planet for however long Look at what my ems is. Now look at my ems from a playthrough I just finished a few minutes ago. What's the difference? I got no memorial scene. I ended up seeing earth being scorched. When getting that ending, only red is available, but I had both blue and red. The ramps for both were there for me to choose. Yesterday a patch was released. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Would Bioware change things without posting it in the patch notes?

Would Bioware change things without posting it in the patch notes? Could be a side effect of another fix. But at the same time, yes. SWTOR has "hidden fixes" in every patches and they are BioWare most detailed ones.

Interesting. I'd be surprised if they changed war asset allocation without putting it in patch notes, but one thing that did surprise me about that first picture was that you got a memorial scene. It's been a few years since I've played the trilogy, but I thought that getting your squad killed by Harbinger was the first effect you saw of low EMS, and you're barely over the minimum. And low EMS means the Normandy crashes and crew mates are likely dead. Your second picture and ending is more in line with what I remember from low EMS Destroy.

I know you'll likely be the one who gets these numbers nailed down, but it sucks that the dude behind the curtain keeps flipping switches on you.

It will take time. Take a look at this post. I don't recall how long it took me to get those numbers, then go through everything again to make sure it was right. That was on the ps3. With the ps4, I'm sure it will be much faster.

With my ems what it is, I still got earth being scorched. No memorial scene. I went back to restart my Shepard I saw that I saved the collector base. Before the remaster, if the base was destroyed, red would be the only ending, if ems was below 1750. If the base is saved, it would the blue ending. I purposely saved the base, but had no intention for blue to be the only ending. I wanted to have the memorial scene. That did not happen. Another thing I noticed is when thing was talking about the blue, there was no vision of TIM pulling the handles whereas there was a vision showing Anderson shoot the tube. When the remaster was released, I did an ME3 default playthrough with the intent to have a low ems run. I succeeded. Red was the only ending, since a default playthrough assumed the base was destroyed. It appears the patch did cause issues with the ending.

I replayed ME2/3 with the same character except I chose to destroy the base instead of saving it, and I had jack die in ME2 instead of being killed on Cronos in ME3. I ended up with the ending I wanted including the memorial scene. Did the two differences make a difference? I would say no. I would not be surprised if the other playthrough caught a bug that caused the whatever crap I had for an ending.

My EMS before attacking Cerberus HQ was 7396. I kept the Collector base in ME2, but I always thought that never factored into the calculations because they were made when you started Priority: Cerberus HQ and the Heart/Brain were awarded after you did that mission. This is my cannon Shepard that I did all the DLC, side missions and scanning in. I even brought along Allers for her small boosts which I normally don't. The geth were destroyed at Rannoch and I sold Legion to Cerberus, that is the largest hit to possible war assets I think. No geth fleet and no bonus to the quarians for destroying the heritics.
No breath scene at the end of destroy, which surprised me.
Edit: I did start this playthough before the most recent patch.

When you say scanning in, does that mean you scanned all planets as well as the planets in the Leviathan dlc? Yes that would be a big hit. I'm currently doing a playthrough where I won't cure the genophage and won't get peace between the geth and quarians to see if I get the breath scene. I believe I will. But I won't know until that time.

I went back and double checked. All systems are at 100% so that includes the newer ones that Leviathan added in. Interesting that this was changed. I consider this a fairly high EMS score myself since my cannon Shepard is sort of my baseline. I didn't take those two small hits that you get for giving the asari a gun or transferring that one marine. Kirrahe is alive but the original council is dead. I cured the genophage with Wrex and Eve. This is one decision I'm open to changing since I'm not convinced the Krogan will remain peaceful, but I think this is worth more EMS than betraying Wrex for the Salarians. I even got the full 100 war assets from the mineral scanning in ME2

See where you could have squeezed out 4 more assets.

OK I quickly went through the ending again this time with the following. I was able to pick up the civilian consultation authorization before hitting Cerberus HQ.
Pre Cerberus HQ: 7403 Pre Earth: 7513
This time I did get the breath scene with destroy. Interesting that the Reaper Brain/Heart is now taken into count, good though.
Something I did notice going through your war asset list and my own is that Admiral Xen was not in my war assets and under the Citadel Defense Force it said that C-Sec was focusing on smaller crimes and less able to deal with larger concerns. I told the cafe owner to hand over security footage and told C-Sec to focus on security rather than small crimes.
I noticed on your list that optimized eezo capacitors are listed as having a value of 5 when it's supposed to be 15. Great list though.

Pre Cerberus HQ: 7403 Pre Earth: 7513 excellent. It always has counted. If ems is very low, having the heart or brain determines the one ending that will be available. Brain means only control and heart means destroy. That's correct. It has been noted in another thread. I have the same issue. Hopefully Bioware will fix that in the next patch.

Does anyone have numbers for when the ending options become available? As in, how many war assets you need for Control, Destroy, and Synthesis to show? (I'm assuming that keeping or destroying the Collector Base still matters for which choice becomes available first.)

Based on my playthroughs, I still have to get the details, blue and red are available above 3500. Green is available at 6200 or higher, and the breath scene is 7500. Below 3500 red or blue depending on what was done with the base in ME2. If a ME3 default playthrough, the game will assume the base has been destroyed.

To be honest I am a bit frustrated Having Garrus in ME3 does not effect ems. If anything, he's the one squadmate in ME2 that can be killed without hurting anything in ME3. All others add something, mostly in the form of assets. Take a look at the war asset thread to see where you could have gotten 2 more assets. If you didn't know, Admiral Xen gives 25 war assets. Since you chose the quarians, you would have gotten the breath scene. Unfortunately the remaster has overlooked that. It has been mentioned in another thread. Hopefully that will be fixed in a future patch.

I checked the Quarian EMS and i have:
25 for Koris 250 for the civil Fleet 275 for the heavy fleet 250 for the patrol fleet
No Admiral Xen EMS
Edit: Now i now the problem. I forgot two scan two systems and missed the EMS from them
