IMO, the thresher maws on Nonuel need to be (or, should have been) moved in a few hundred meters. In the original I would take them out on foot, so their location didn't matter to me. Now I have Joker continually hounding me about, "going beyond the range of the operational area." My current solution is to leave the area when the tentacles pop, but that feels like cheating. I need more room to maneuver the Mako.
At some point I want to figure out a way to take the new maws on foot. However, that goal is not on my "near term" list.

I actually don't mind Joker griping about the operational boundary on that planet. Since it's the location of the renegade morality quest, I just headcanon that Shepard doesn't really listen to Joker anyways. I'll admit though that, since Legendary changed how the thresher maws work, I haven't yet been able to bring one down on foot (that is, without using the mako to soften it up first); and it was a PITA getting recalled once during the fight using the mako. I doubt they'll move them though... or the location of the one mineral that is also outside the operational boundary on that planet.

My first run I'm doing an insanity run so defs didn't take out a single one on foot. I did do a completionist run though. I found that the Maws actually were a lot easier to kill than in the original insanity difficulty. Maybe it's the way the Mako moves now or something but I only died a handful of times to them this time as opposed to getting crushed in the original.

With the mako, the boost combined with their path being visible with the dirt flying up makes them easy to avoid. Combine that with the ability to repair the mako while still moving (just not while shooting) makes taking them down in the mako a pieces of cake, even on insanity. I haven't yet figured out a way to do it completely on foot though. I can whittle his health down a ways and stay alive, but invariably he will evenutally resurface right under Shepard's feet for an instant kill and Shepard just doesn't have enough sprint to outrun the maw. I still haven't completely given up on the idea yet... and I do get a little closer to getting it done each time I try.

I think they changed the Thresher Maw health values in the Legendary Edition, or maybe they changed the Mako's damage values. Thresher Maws seem to take more damage from the Mako in the Legendary Edition.

Thresher Maws seem to take more damage from the Mako in the Legendary Edition. I agree with that assessment. It seems to me they used to take a lot more damage on foot, particularly if one flung a "warp" at them. Even on Insanity, I could take one down easily in less than 10 secocnds with a fully-leveled and equipped soldier Shepard, with Wrex and Garrus on my squad (fully equipped Spectre X ARs and casting Wrex's warp as soon as the fight began. I've tried a couple of times now with my NG+ solder (who is currently Level 59) and the same configuration for the squad and I haven't done near the same amount of damage despite surviving about 3 or 4 of his moves and pop-ups and repeated firing Wrex's warp each time and continuing to blast him with bullets as long as he stays up.
