Okay, I wanted to play a different game for a while then MELE (Yeah I know... how dare I. ) so I bought the game DA2 with all its 18 DLC's. The game and all DLC's were installed almost a week ago. So one of the DLC's is the well known Black Emporium. I wanted to go there yesterday so that I could get Dog and Respec my Mage. (I do not use Mindblast.) From the Wiki I knew that I would have to read a letter in the Writing Desk in Gamlens house. I got a few letters from the writing desk, but none that would reveal the Black Emporium? So... Question 1: Is the Wiki wrong, or am I doing something wrong? Everything I have read so far online shows me that I should be able to get the letter from the Writing Desk with my level 8 Mage... but so far I am not getting the letter. The chest in the other room has been emptied the first time I was inside Gamlens house. (And there were very little things in that chest by the way?) I even checked the estate when I did Carvers 'Birthright' quest. According to steam, all the DLC's are installed and activated. Question 2: According to a friend I should be able to find a woman in the Hanged man who could become a companion. I think he said her name was Isabela? I can not find her there day or night. I did see a woman with the name 'Suspicious woman', but when I tried to talk to her all she said was something along the line of 'Do not follow me'? These question me make me sound like a noob to the Dragon Age games, but I have played DAO and DAI in the past.

Oh great I checked in game under Downloadable content and all DLC's are installed. But they have asterix next them instead of a checkmark? I tried logging out and then loging back in with my EA account, but that did not solve it? Clicking on View available content and Redeem Code does not work any more since that Bioware site no longer exists as we all know. So are they telling me that I bought DA2 with all DLC's but the DLC's are useless for me?

1. You don't have to go to the Black Emporium for Dog, Hawke can summon – in the beginning of the game, when they run away from Lothering to Kirkwall, or later. 2. Isabela will be there. Maybe not in the first time.
Sometimes there are problems with DLCs, I experienced and also heard from others, that the game not always recognize the DLCs, when you install first to a PC. I can remember, how i solved the problem, maybe in the Origin, I activated again... and reinstalled – but it solved.

As for Isabela, guess I will have to go back there a few more times. As for reinstalling, do you mean the DLC's because I tried that this afternoon. Or do you mean the entire game again, and the login again in the main menu?

Do you see the dog's icon in spells/ability screen? Because you should put it to the bar to use.
This question already was here (somewhere) if I find it, i'll link it.

If i remember it right Isabela appears in the Hanged Man after having completed the main quest Tranquility. The 'Suspicious woman' is connected to a side quest (Secret Rendezvous) that is available if you saved Amaranthine in Dragon Age: Awakening.

No I do not see the Dogs icon in the spells/ability screen? And the link would be nice if you can find it. Liadan , Thank you for that information, I am first going to do the Bone Pit quest, but after that I will do the Tranquillity quest. And although it has been a long time since DAO, I am pretty certain I did save Amaranthine in Dragon Age: Awakening.

But maybe help to get an idea to solve. And I found one thread in Steam as well.

BUT... this afternoon I found this thread on answers.ea.com. answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-2/Dragon-Age-2-Unauthorized-DLC/m-p/5824042#M5681After I backed up the Addin folder, I tried this method. And look and behold... No more Asterix behind the DLC's, and no longer the mention of the DLC's being unauthorised. But with my lvl 8 mage I still do not get the letter that leads to the Black Emporium, also no dog in Gamlens house. I now have the sneaky suspicion that I need to start a new character to see if I get the letter and everything that should have been in the Special Delivery chest? If a new character gets everything, then that will mean I will have to restart my Mage. That would be sad, but if starting a new character solves it then I will start over with my Mage. Better that then missing out on anything from the DLC's, I paid for those so I want them to work.

And I suppose, yes, most likely you have to start the game again. You haven't sculptures in Gamlen's hause, I think, so: no link to Legacy and MotA... and probably Sebastian's quest (Exiled Prince) didn't start...

I bought both DA2 and all of it's dlc's about 4-5 years ago through Origin, and have never been able to get the dlc's to work. I contacted tech support and they couldn't do anything. It's a bummer because the Legacy dlc sounded pretty good. But that's what youtube's for.
