I would be ok with it, as Long, as they stay the hell away from the player characters Warden, Hawke, Inquisitor. I had a beloved player character butchered once -Revan in SWTOR-, I don't need that again. So as long as they use original characters only, I'm exited, but keep away from the current timeline.

Anything found online about this topic links back to the original Giant Freaking Robot article, a site not exactly known for reliable information and/or research. Funimation releasing Dawn of the Seeker one year after Dragon Age 2 made sense, but by right now Dragon Age has mostly faded into obscurity seven years after the previous game and goodness know how many until the next. Not the best pick if they wanted to cash in on existing brand popularity.

I think it's more about getting people (re)introduced into the series and not about cashing in on existing popularity. If they truely are going into full PR mode next year, then it makes sence for them to want fans of the show to get excited about a game set in the same universe.
This is also why I'm scared that they are going to use the story from DAO/DAI, since it makes it easier for new fans to get into the lore by watching the show, rather than having to play an old game.

I'm not sure what part of DA lore the story will be focused on. Are the series going to follow the game timeline aka starting DA Origin or not? If so, then given the various Wardens we've had, which origin would they choose? Maybe the default version selected by the game where Alistair is King? I can't decide if I'm for or against it. Once I see the first couple of episodes I'd either be really into it, or be sour about it, but I'd have to see first and I for sure would check the series if they were to come out.
Mabaris on screen should be a lot of fun though. They better start doggo casting soon!
For my personal taste, I'd probably prefer to see the series about the First Blight, the formation of the Wardens and the First Warden. This would provide a lot of lore and it is remote from the current game age, so it wouldn't clash/distort any DA game characters I love or events as I've written them.

As i said earlier interactive series.

I’d love to see something about Duncan from before DAO starts. Heck, they could even get away with a young Alistair in some regards. For that matter, they could probably make it about some of the NPC’s that we don’t get too much background info for.
Like showing more of why Loghain betrayed us and/or the relationship between Anora and Cailan (and Celene). Something about Morrigan’s and Flemeth’s relationship perhaps. Or some of the things from DAI, like how/why the Wardens became corrupted the way that they did or what the companions were doing before the game begins.
Something that doesn’t interfere with the story of the game, but fleshes out some of the characters a bit more and makes us understand them/see them and their actions in a different light. If it involves (past or future) companions, it can also double as a way of introducing the different factions relevant to the next game.
Either that or they should just make it about one of the books/comics. Then at least they’d have a story that’s already established in the universe. Like I would have loved to have had Masked Empire as a mini series before DAI.

While I would adore a Warden series (which would necessarily involve dwarves as The Calling comes into play) it might serve them better to go with Crows and their back-stabbing, political intrigue, wandering Thedas action. Or Lords of Fortune if we'll be playing one in DA4. A reason to visit places we haven't seen and creatures and people not yet introduced. And nugs.

I would only watch if it doesn't cover the previous games and try to establish some canon version of Warden, Hawke and the Inquisitor. That would just ruin the fandom imo. I would rather they either take the same approach as the novels and comics to expand the lore and worldbuilding OR cover historical events like Andraste's war against the Imperium, previous Blights, etc.
