I would say that is the one darkspawn I want redesigned from DAO since that thing was disturbing. However it makes the darkspawn far more disturbing then usual since in DAO we got to learn about them so much that we understood just how evil they were. If you didn't play DAO then the darkspawn have essentially been side notes that are just evil creatures who come out to kill everyone, or corypheus That is done in so many games it is ridiculous. Besides if you kill a brood mother then you are essentially killing thousands of darkspawn and can feel like you really made some difference against them. But again please don't have them look like that. Thoughts

I personally would be ok, if we could put Darkspawn stuff aside for one game. There is already a lot of potential conflict material without our blighted friends.
I must admit though, that the whole scene leading up to the broodmother in DAO is among the most creepy once, I have encountered in a non-horror-game so far. The poem especially gave me the chills.

Broodmother would be an okay battle because it's so different, but yeah, I'm okay with the Blight staying far away. It gets shoehorned in too much.
But yes, more creepy stuff.

I think they are gonna feature heavily into it though. I mean they talked about red lyrium to length and then dropped the Bianca dropped the bomb of "It's lyrium with the blight". And yes that poem was so freaking wrong as well as knowing everything that happened.

Just because red lyrium was a plot reveal doesn't mean it must feature in the next game. There were revelations about golems, but they didn't factor into DA2. Blighted golems...that might be interesting.

Blighted golems...that might be interesting. Yes that's true but they never resolved the plot on red lyrium. It may come to nothing like how dark matter in ME2 was constantly talked about and came to nothing in ME3 but I don't think so. Again I could obviously be wrong.

I'm not sure what you mean by "resolved the plot." It's resolved: Varric told Bianca about the lyrium because he wanted to know what it was. Bianca did her research and needed help, so she then told Corypheus's skin-puppet, whomever survived Legacy. Varric wanted to find out how the red templars got the lyrium and it was Bianca.

Even archdemons appear to be tools of the Blight rather than the puppetmasters.

There is already a lot of potential conflict material without our blighted friends. "Demons, dragons, darkspawn, even the Dread Wolf". Unless this was empty rhetoric in the trailer, it did seem to be promising at least more darkspawn. Of course, Tevinter Nights seem to be building up to us finding something even worse than brood-mothers down in the Deep Roads, as if they weren't bad enough. Also in the Descent Rhen was saying how he thought that fighting darkspawn would be never ending until the ultimate source of them was discovered and dealt with. He was suggesting the alpha brood-mother and that could well be something we end up having to deal with. Also there was this work in progress shot from last year: If a giant, tainted beating heart doesn't give you the chills, I don't know what will! Also this bit of the trailer seemed to suggest that we may be encountering red lyrium infused darkspawn.

Is that a heart? It looks more like a column of blighted fungus. Not saying that's better.

The original "work in progress" had the thing pulsating in a way that definitely made me think of a beating heart. Obviously, not a human shaped heart but then the titans aren't human. At present I'm of the view that what we are seeing is the interior of a blighted titan but of course I may be entirely wrong about that.

Well I don't know about a Titan's heart because it looks like it's on the surface to me (based on the sky and the ruined buildings that don't look like the Sha Brytol/dwarven architecture) and if a titan left underground for the surface it's heart would presumably still be within it and thus the sky would be down and the buildings different. But it's certainly pulsating like it's alive. So it might be something's heart, or something growing inside like a cocoon?

So it might something's heart, or something growing inside like a cocoon? Back in DAO and DAA the darkspawn came from growths that were a bit like that didn't they? It seemed as though broodmothers didn't give birth to live offspring so much as laid eggs inside sacs (at least that is what the Mother did). So I suppose it could just be the updated version of that.

Those fleshy sacs were all over the place in dao, anywhere the darkspawn had been (and also the circle tower after the abominations took over for some reason). Can't remember whether anything ever came out of one but you'd think so. I do remember getting loot from them which is it's own kind of unsettling. How'd that stuff get there? Do they shove people in there?

We appear to be on the surface, not in the Uncharted Abyss. The "sky" there was weird though. The tendrils look more like deep mushrooms to me.
