I think I've ran into a problem in ME1. During the second conversation with Liara, she asks about a possible relationship between Shep and Kaidan. As usual, I choose the option for Shep to say that she and Kaidan are just friends. I wanted to try something different, so when Liara asked if she was wrong about them (Shep & Liara) too, I picked the renegade option "You are wrong." This is when it gets strange. She keeps calling me "Shepard" instead of "Commander." I shrugged it off for a bit, but I was worried at the same. I checked online and apparently there's a bug that locks you in a romance with Liara even when choosing the renegade option at the end of her second conversation. Is this true? I really don't want to start all over again, after the amount of progress I've made. This could compromise my entire playthrough. Even if I were to accept it, it comes from a glitch, and the conversations are not seemless.

You may be talking about the conversation where you need to pick the middle option to avoid a romance from Liara. That's the ninjamancing that people always talk about.
Were you wanting to romance no one at all in ME1, or just someone other than Liara? You could just reload an older save if you're hoping to romance Kaidan or Ashley. No need to start over again. Otherwise, you could let things go as they are, and just turn Liara down when she tries to come spend the night near the end of the game. Or use the save editor to remove the romance flag, if you are on a platform that supports it.

Yep. The only way to fix it is to load up a save from before that and pick the middle option. That's the only way to stop the bug.

This is bullshit. Yet another setback. How many times am I going to restart this game. All of my progression is going to be lost. The credits, gear, etc. I have to get it all over again. It's not like I'm off everyday either.

I remember someone on Answers HQ a little while back who forgot to take the Mako with him on the timed section on Ilos, and had NO previous saves, so he was going to have to play the entire game again. I don't get it. If you're playing an RPG, keep as many saves as you can. Does Xbox only allow a handful of saves or something? Still, instead of starting over, maybe just turn Liara away when she comes to sleep with you. I know it's not quite the same, but at least you wouldn't lose all that progress. |

I think, because I do not want to restart the game from level 1 again, I'll just stick with playing MELE on my PS5, and use my Xbox Series X as just a secondary console for games I either haven't played before, or games unavailable for PS, like Halo (feels like a waste of money now).
Besides, Mass Effect on PS5 supports the save editor.

From what I had with Ash or Kaidan at least: sending them away in ME1 does not mean end of the romance. I still was in romance with them in ME2 (with photo), only without bed-scene in ME1. After sending them away remember Ash said some funny phrase and went away. |

Besides, Mass Effect on PS5 supports the save editor. Can't you put the save on a usb stick, transfer to PC and then use the save editor to turn the romance off? I am not sure how it works for MELE (and I am only on PC) but I read that this was possible for the old games. I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work now though. Maybe try and google it, I am sure someone has a how-to out there.

dmc1001 dragontartareI'm just going to stick with MELE on my PlayStation. I have a save there, and the Trilogy Save Editor supports PS saves (with PS4 save wizard, of course). I'm going to keep using my PS5 as the main Console, and my Xbox will be used as a secondary console for games I can't play on PS.

There are different levels of romance with A/K/L. When you use editors you can see the progression in number format. You may be partially along the way with them but it's not "locked". It likely doesn't carry over into ME2. Yes, this part is clear. Since you mentioned it: I sent A/K away before Ilos but did not watch number progression assuming "locked". After that experiment the first thing I wanted to check in ME2 was "what was the outcome of sending them away": checked editor for choices, watched numbers (can't remember them now) - "Shepard romanced .." Thus the question: A/K/L comes to the room before Ilos only when the romance is locked? Do partially-romanced people come? And by "partially-romanced" according to numbers I mean. What are those numbers in that case? As I also checked the situations when started talking, the romance/talking went well but stopped talking to them at some point when A/K had those lines with the meaning "interested" without some final lines. The result was "no visit before Ilos". But considering BW likes those ninja-things could not trust some things without corfirmation. Checked ME2: there was no romance as well - check editor/numbers/Horizon scene/photo. Who knows with ME1 approach: difference in one number and you are already romancing someone, can send them away before Ilos but still be in romance in ME2.
