Some of you probably already know that PlayStation saves are supported in the MELE save editor. In MELE Save Editor, I wanted my Vanguard to have an assault rifle & sniper rifle. I was successful, but the heavy weapon was no longer available. I realized that a Vanguard can only carry up to five weapons, or four if you don't pick assault or sniper rifle training in ME2, so I tried to get rid of the SMG and pistol, but it didn't work. No matter how many times I went to Raw Data/Player/Weapons & Weapons Loadout to delete the pistol and SMG, the game would not budge. The lighter weapons were still there, and the heavy weapon remained unavailable. Only when removing the sniper training allowed it to come back. Note, that I'm not on PC. I'm using my PlayStation save. Am I missing a step? This is for ME2LE, by the way.

What you're doing is likely causing a conflict between the game and the save editor.

Bump. I really need help with this. I don't have all the time in the world. Sorry, can't help you there. Whenever I want to change loadouts, I do it via Coalesced edit (as described in the other thread) but that's on PC. If you can somehow gain access to the game files, you might be able to get to it as well. Then you could try and edit it and see if that works. However, with a quick google search, I couldn't find any info on whether or not the Coalesced is somehow different on the PS and/or if you can edit it if you can even find it somehow. So it doesn't look like many people have tried yet.

I managed to change Shepard's loadout in ME3 via save editor just to drop a weapon I was carrying (because Shepard should be able to just set a weapon down), but it was fiddly as hell because there were several places where I had to change the loadout. I haven't tried in ME2.

Try setting Advanced Training to 1 in Plot > Research/Upgrades > Weapons. You can even unlock all special weapons by changing value to 2. You should lose SMG if you unlock all bonus weapons IIRC.
EDIT: You will always lose heavy weapon if you unlock all bonuses. I got rid of SMG in old game, but can't remember how I did that.

I wonder if there is a way to remove the heavy weapon without the advance training, in case I want the Shotgun, SMG, pistol, and nothing else.

In that case, why not just...not use them? This isn't like ME3 where carrying extra weapons can be detrimental.

I meant in case I don't want to equip assault rifles and sniper rifles later on. Nothing else on Shep's back except the SMG, Shotgun, and Pistol.

I actually quite often disable heavy weapons in my ME2 runs. I practically never use them anyways and IMO most look quite bulky and a little stupid on Sheps back (and many models actually clip into the other weapons if you have a build with ARs/SRs). Kinda glad, they made them single use pickups in ME3 tbh.

See my post above, I do it via coalesced on PC. In other words, I can't. I don't know, I never really tried with the save editor as there was no reason to do so for me. But if no one here managed to do it so far, I'd say chances probably aren't good.
