I've recently wrote an article about popular mods for Origins, but I'm curious what everyone's personal favourites are? I'd also love to know WHY you mod. Is it for better textures/look of the game, is it for hidden or removed content, or is it to add what you feel the game lacked? I love anything to do with retextures and new weapon/armour appearances. I can't help but think a lot of the original clothing was less than attractive, so having shiny new armour sets is high on my list of priorities. Let me know what you look for in your mods!

I agree with some of the mods on your list: GWoF (though not without a rebalance/fix mod like the one I made), EDS, Visible Console Commands, No Helmet hack, and PAR, are all my personal essential mods list. On the other hand, I'd never recommend Improved Atmosphere to anyone, after the dozens if not hundreds of times I've helped users troubleshoot issues with it. Neither would I suggest Skip the Fade. Lost in Dreams is one of the most interesting quests in the game, and one of the few that requires any real thought. But to each his or her own, and mod as you will. (Or not.) If I had to pare my install down to the bare minimum (and I'm sure I'll forget something important...), I'd go with Craig Graff's Camp Storage Chest; adds a limited capacity storage chest to Party Camp that is far more convenient than the one at Soldier's Peak (this is an alternative to the superior Camp Merchant Chest mod from the old BSN projects, which I recommend to anyone who still has the files) Loincloth Fashion (+ my personal rebalance) and Kirkwall Exports; adds a large assortment of lore-appropriate items ported from DA2 DA Redesigned; vanilla NPC morphs are weird tucked hair; adds lore appropriate hairstyles, ported from DA2 (and is a requirement for DA Redesigned) Dain's Fixes (fixes only); addresses the numerous gameplay and combat bugs Improved Romance Scenes and Fixes - Alistair, Morrigan Restoration Patch, Zevran Dialogue Fix, Dialogue Tweaks - addresses most of the plot and dialogue bugs and restores some lost content GWoF + GWoF Rebalanced Extra Dog Slot
No Helmet Hack
I'd also install a select assortment of cosmetic mods, to improve the lackluster textures and tints; some personal morphs for companions and important NPCs; and some small replacement texture mods.

so having shiny new armour sets is high on my list of priorities Have another question, though have no idea who can answer it. Agree that armor sets look the same, sometimes can't even tell the simple one from the best armor in the game for 130 gold as they almost look the same. And to have other options (just to try and remove) is very good. But just can't understand why those new armor sets, weapon are greatly OP? It is impossible to play as there is no joy in it at all. Why do modders create OP armor and weapon? When was interested in that question could find a couple of simple, not OP mods and that was all (remember there was simple dalish armor). Do not understand the purpose, but the idea itself of having something different-looking is very good. -- As for mods (after 100 PTs): - interested a lot in cut-content: there are many such mods - now already can't play without Dain's Fix combat mod as combat is pretty much the only excuse for me to play DAO - other bug fixes: like there are two shield you can't get, encounters you miss - such things - Zevran ASAP: but it is my own preference since can't stand Leliana and I need a rogue Others are optional, might use them or remove: - for CC: simply add some diversity after many PTs - morph for Zevran/Alistair/Sten/Wynne - some nice story mods wich make sense e.g. Killing Tamlen mod instead just kill him like he was nobody to the dalish GW

Just a few of mods that are imo. a must have Open lock spells for when you're out of rogues or just like the idea of a mage melting locks (also as a plus point it works across all dlc's with exception from Darkspawn chronicles) The Rescue at Ishal just adds a very nice lore friendly scene at Ostagar before waking up in Flemeth's hut No starting abilities as it says on the tin it removes the starting abilities when you start a new character, giving you more freedom to customize their starting skills and talents Fare ye well Duncan adds a scene between Alistair and Duncan where the former bids the latter farewell A Warden's sacrifice adds a scene for after defeating the Archdemon between the Warden and their lover if they were in the party (sans Morrigan because of story reasons), for both a Warden who died and a Warden who survived
