And the ending still sucks. Indeed so. This was a failure whose epicness was right on scale with the setting. I've played tons of games since then, with endings from satisfying to boring to disappointing, but none was ever of a kind again, that - as one reviewer put it back in 2013 - "poisoned even nostalgia against it". I agree. I've played x number of games since ME3. I don't recall every ending, but ME3's sticks out like a sore thumb. The only thing the cut fixed was the flashbacks. It was bad seeing Larry, Curly and Moe, but now with the cut, the player only sees one of them while the other two are based on the player's playthrough. It left questions unanswered. It created one of the funniest scenes with the what-the-**** evac scene. The memorial scene was a head scratcher. I will say I did like Hackett's epilogue. I don't recall what I wanted, but I will say I was believing there would be some confrontation/battle between Shepard and Harbinger with the amount of trash talking he did in ME2. I have no idea. I wouldn't be surprised if Hudson said to himself the ending could have been better. Even Walters said the endings could have been better.

Like really, really, REALLY sucks. Pox on EA's house for introducing it. I have no choice but to End Task the background services or whatever they are for the EA App to get those games to launch as well.

The EA App is still a buggy mess.
Sometimes the "EA Background service" does not end completly when you end the EA App.
It is then shown as "Ending" in the Service list but it never ends. In this state the "EA Background service" also cannot start again.
Thats why you cannot start your games.
I have created a script to end the "EA Background service" when i stop playing a EA Game and now everything is fine

Oh, that's fun retrospective. I can really see the "we'll figure it out later" element of writing in some of what we got in ME3, so it's nice to hear that confirmed explicitly.
I have to wonder what's going on with BioWare and the Edmonton studio that they consistently just Don't Mention BioWare Austin in the context of, like, MEA and Anthem. I have a friend whose husband previously worked at Austin and was involved in MEA, and she's (probably more so than he is) always frustrated by how Austin gets forgotten. Apparently her husband found out about the BioWare 20th Anniversary Celebration from... their twitter... It's WILD to me, too, beccause after Anthem tanked, the Edmonton studio saddled the Austin studio with the game lol. You can bet that if Anthem had done well, Edmonton would have kept that baby.
One thing I did find interesting:
If I am reading this correctly, it appears to me that both Mac Walters AND Casey Hudson may have been involved in the development of the next Mass Effect game in some form of consultation role, as early as 2020-2021.
