Has anyone used the Save Editor for ME1 (MELE) in order to give themselves a head start by maxing out Shep's level, talents, weapons, armor credits, etc? If so, why? Wouldn't it be too easy? Does it count as cheating or laziness?.
I'm asking, because part me wants to do this. I have been a Mass Effect fan for almost 12 years, and I'm debating on whether or not I should cut myself a break and max out my character from that start instead of starting from level one again.
Unfortunately, there's this moral compass issue I'm caught up in. On one hand, I'm treating myself after years of starting over on level 1, and saving me the trouble of trying to level up everything again. On the other hand I'm worried about the idea of cheating. I wouldn't want to think I'm cheating or depriving myself of an experience.

It's down to you. Personally, I use the cheat holotape mod for Fallout 4 to give me resources to build settlements because I can't be bothered to spend hours grinding for those resources.
Is it cheating? Sure, but we don't play video games to do chores now do we?

Its doing what you want with a product you enjoy. Personally I wouldn't do it because to me leveling and picking skills is all part of the game and I would just play on a lower difficulty before just altering the character, with that said I probably would do something about resource gathering in ME2.

I'm bit late, but better late than never... Enemies are scaling to your level in all ME games, same goes with gear in first. You shouldn't experience any differences in combat, except that you can do cool stuff from the start in first game. Second game can be a bit harder in first half because of weapons, gear and powers upgrade system; you can unlock upgrades from the start, but you will be able to find them again through levels, so you you will be much stronger than you should be later on, so if you do that don't pick up upgrades (or simply don't research them). Third game is more or less the same as first, you should upgrade favorite weapons to level 5 as soon as you pick them up if you play weapons depended classes.

I have only used the save editor to cheat on paragon/renegade points in ME2 because I hate their persuasion mechanic forcing me into being consistent if I want to persuade. So no regrets there. Otherwise, I don't think I ever used it for cheating the game mechanics. I did use it to have Kelly Chambers appear in ME3 even though I didn't make innuendos at the workplace towards her in ME2. But that was just fixing something which I [perceive as a plot issue.
Also used it to get new hair colors in ME1, which was cool.
So yea, for me, definitely a benefit, not a hazard.
