I also believe MEA does certain things well mechanically that I hope bioware incorporates into their next ME game such as crafting and augmentation, combat movement and fluidity, customization of both armor and casual outfits, squadmembers not being stationary when on the ship etc... I still think overall this game brings alot of good to the franchise.

If anything I think I'm going the opposite direction. I enjoyed it well enough the first time, but whenever I attempt to replay it I inevitably get bogged down in the cascade of minor annoyances I have with the game. Though if I was on PC I could mod out a lot of these, but I am not on PC. So just the game and all its original glory for me! LOL.

I have learned to streamline my playthroughs to only do activities and quest lines that interest me. It helps my enjoyment and pacing of the game to filter out things that don't interest me.

Off the top of my head, a lot of the stuff SAM has to say, the biggest annoyance being the weather updates, also a lot of Ryder's dialogue. Last time I made the mistake of going straight for the Vaults to get it over with, wasn't the best decision. I also get annoyed in situations where the player is vastly more knowledgeable than Ryder, it doesn't help that the dialogue in these situations seems to be annoying on purpose. None of these are major issues per se, but that's the cascade.
The last time I made it through the entirety of the game I tried to make a note of any minor side stuff I actually liked, turns out it wasn't that hard. I really liked Something in the Water, the one where the Angarian is stealing water or some such, thought it might come up later but to my knowledge it didn't. So yeah, whenever I attempt another playthrough, it will pretty much just be main quest and character quests only.

I wouldn't still be playing it for the fourth time (always 100 % completion) if I didn't play on PC and wasn't able to mod the hell out of it. Currently I have over 20 different mods, only a few of them cosmetic. Most of them have to do with audio, game design, unfixed bugs or design flaws, more variation to asari faces, etc. I was constantly annoyed, like really really annoyed, until I found those audio mods, and after the rest of the mods the experience is really smooth and pleasant. It is still an unpolished, unfinished game so the console version does still deserve much of its reputation.

Yes, when Mass Effect Legendary Edition was released I bought it and played the Trilogy for the first time. Then when I was browsing through the Steam sales I saw that Andromeda was being sold for dirt cheap. Although I had always heard bad things about it for the price I bought the game, and do not regret buying it. Like with Dragon Age 2 I found myself enjoying Andromeda. I do not mind Ryder and my favorite squadmates were Drack and Cora. I like the overarching theme of exploration. The only complaint is that the game is unfinished. I have many question left unanswered like who is the mysterious benefactor? Since I accidentally chose Sloane what happened to Reyes? Was the Quarian Ark ever rescued? It's a shame that BioWare decided not to develop the game further. But I enjoyed the ride and the Angara are one of my top Mass Effect species.

It's just like you said it needed a dlc.

I never played the Original Trilogy - fantasy is more my speed - but played MEA well after release and patching and the 'noise' around the game died down. I liked it well enough. The combat was fun (and I don't really like shooters, first or third person, usually). I have just started playing ME1LE - and I'm enjoying it so far. The jank is real, but the story/narrative is unfolding nicely. I won't know for sure how it stacks up - in my opinion - with MEA until after I've finished, of course.

I've been a member of this forum for years but always stuck to the Dragon Age section since those were the games I played. When MELE was released I decided to buy it and see what the hype was all about. Even though I never played them before MELE I knew about them. Once I completed the trilogy I wanted more Mass Effect , and Steam had Andromeda on sale. Although I always heard bad things about it I decided to buy it because the price was too good. and like wit h Dragon Age 2 I was pleasantly surprised. I envy you playing the trilogy for the first time, I remember when I first went through it blind.

My opinion (negative) hasn't changed. I played it once and never will again. The core problem is the writing.

So in the beginning, there was the shock with how much there's wrong with Andromeda. With time, the temper has cooled down and there was quite a long period of finding whatever positive there is in the game, when you could say people are opening their minds and warming up to MEA. But that's over now for most people and the changes to society make the characters less relatable and the story less appealing for a significant share of players who can be expected to yet play the game or otherwise care about it. So I say no.
To elaborate a bit, people grew more tired of progressive messages over the last 5 years and those who appreciate excessively light-hearted tones can't be expected to care about a game from 5 years ago.

Yep looking around the different forums and places it seems they are and for long time now, going after it again to OT especially seems to be eye opening for many - me included - how much better most of the things are in MEA.

Although I had always heard bad things about it for the price I bought the game, and do not regret buying it. I was like that too a few months after it's release. I bought it for 30 euros to see what's with all that negativity, and was actually a little bit scared that i might not like it. Turns out i enjoyed it a lot, and it was one of my best experiences i had with a game and my favourite mass effect.

Yeah. That was also before MELE announced, i think on june when it released on steam and the reviews were very positive.

Shootres were more my thing when I first tried ME and tbh ME was probably the firs tgame I tried tha twa san RPG with choices and consequences that sprung from these choices and such.It was my enjoyment of the ME trilogy mostly 1 and 2 at that point as 3 hadn't come out yet that made me ask ewhat els ehas Bioware done that I might enjo yand that's how I discovered Dragon Age. It did take a while for me t omaster DA's mechanics thoug has I definitely found it harder but it was still enjoyable. I still remember watching the promo vids for ME3 and getting chills down my spine thinking "well shit we're in for it now"

Kinda.
Thing is, we all recognize what Bioware has done to Andromeda. Hate it or love it, it's a testament of unpolished and unfinished work. Sure, it is good (IMO) as of now, but it's what comes first that keeps on people's mind. Addison's face hasn't been much of a problem, but "my face is tired" is forever engraved not just on Andromeda, but Mass Effect as a whole. Plus, you shouldn't get praise on something you fixed because that was your job in the first place. And no, I'm not talking about small bugs or glitches - every game has them. But Andromeda still has broken quests as of today.
I guess we still have hope that Bioware still has that one thing planned and kinda considered Andromeda that slip-up (not a bad one for some, including me). Plus, they are actively talking about/hyping the franchise and recently went back to the Unreal Engine instead of the Frostbite mess that started all of this and even did a great job with the remaster for ME1, so I would think there's still that passion.

While there are certainly still plenty of people that still have negative feelings about MEA it seems as though others are opening up their minds or softening their stances about it. I also believe MEA does certain things well mechanically that I hope bioware incorporates into their next ME game such as crafting and augmentation, combat movement and fluidity, customization of both armor and casual outfits, squadmembers not being stationary when on the ship etc... Yes. As I love to remind people MEA was the most liked game of the series on Steam Users Reviews and that place is famous for being tough on games. The new user reviews that I've seen on sites like Amazon, Xbox Store, PS Store most seem to give it a 4 out 5. Saying it's a fun game with some great characters with some flaws but nowhere near the bugs that Cyberpunk 2077 still has.
This was happening before ME:LE and new game was announced and while some people can't get over that it's not about Shepard and company saving the galaxy from giant robot squids again and they can't believe that a game that they don't like for whatever reasons are finding out that a lot of new people in 2021 are having more fun with it than with ME:LE.
It's got a great sense of humor that reminds me of GotG films and Farscape and I love the design of the vaults they remind me of the 50s sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet and that it's about hope and optimism in the face of unseen and unknown challenges instead of doom and gloom that we're all going to die that permeated MET to such a such a nihilistic degree that playing ME:LE makes me depressed because of it's bleakness. Also I love the idea of building a brand new new society and not trying to save a dying one (even without the Reapers the Council was a broken government and was going to fall in a few centuries) that has appealed to me more than trying to save one that is beyond saying.
Well told grimdark stories have their place but they also make me depressed and I don't like being like that. So I try to balance it out. Also it was new, fresh, daring, and exciting and I want more. Not a "Shepard and company have to put the MWG back together again" which sounds awfully boring and stupid. If I want that story I can read some great fanfic.
BioWare should follow what Star Trek: Discovery did they went forwards not backwards and do MEA2 and leave the MWG in the past.
