It's like Mass Effect 2 set in Dragon Age: Origins. So much characters to recruit, train and talk daddy issues with. Good story where choice matters a lot and it's very rewarding to replay the game and see the other choices. You basically have to play it at least twice to get a full picture of what is going on. Can recommend it to anyone that likes 2000s BioWare games.
(I don't even like anime.)

I’m currently playing it for the sixth time. Played every other route at least once and the Blue Lion route three times.

Blue Lions is the worst route though (not a fan of some of the things it forces on you like being a war criminal). Black Eagles (specifically Silver Snow) is imo the best. I prefer the Golden Deer route above all else. Verdant Wind is good, though it falls behind Silver Snow for me for a couple reasons. 1. The Golden Deer feel a bit disconnected from the plot. The scene I always think of is Edelgard’s death. It’s done as this emotional thing, which if you chose Black Eagles makes sense since she was your student, yet if you chose Golden Deer you barely interact with her. Likewise with the other students. The BE has that extra bit of them going against their nation and friends for what they feel is right, while the Alliance overall isn’t really involved. 2. The final mission. While fun and has amazing music, it is out of place that suddenly Nemesis is back. There’s no connection there. Meanwhile the final mission in Silver Snow first answers the remaining questions better and is far more tragic since you have to fight Rhea whom you were saving and is a friend plus many comrades who became under a geas. And if you have high enough support with her, she survives. All that said, I do love Verdant Wind. The only campaign I don’t really like is Azure Moon, for reasons I said plus many others like it never addressing the TWSITD or Nabatean plots. And even that one is still overall good.

Curious how Fire Emblem: Three Hopes will handle each nation’s story, and the overarching story. I just hope we’re able to recruit the people on the other nations like we could in Three Houses. And not have to kill Byleth, though I highly doubt that we will or that they’ll be an antagonist the entire game.

Oh that's interesting. I thought the Fire Emblem TH game was developed by Intelligent Systems and Koei Tecmo and published by Nintendo. When was Bioware involved with this title?

It gave the impression Bioware was involved. 😄 Thanks for the explanation.

I've played three times so far, and (as you might expect) I've enjoyed the game a lot. It has a lot of nice character relationships and interactions, as well as strong plots and worldbuilding. There aren't a lot of really impactful choices, but they are at least able to make the couple that do come up feel really significant, to the point where I wouldn't say I prefer one or the other (it's just a different style of storytelling).
I think they give a fairly good sense of the tone of the houses even in the first chapter or so, which gives a decent basis for your decision; I initially figured that I'd like the Black Eagles the most (in significant part, I admit, because they're led by a bi woman and the other two houses are led by straight* men), that I'd like the Golden Deer fairly well, and that I wouldn't enjoy the chivalric culture of the Blue Lions as much. All of those first impressions became more complex and nuanced, but turned out broadly correct.
Ever since I played Dragon Age II, I thought the idea of a love interest who's involved in a big plot twist/betrayal event was interesting, and I wished there would be an F/F pairing one so that I might actually encounter it myself. I have to say, I never expected that I'd get that first from a Nintendo game, but I found the big choice there on the Black Eagles route (which I played first, without really having foreknowledge of the game) very impactful. I did side with Edelgard, and that's still my favorite route even if it does end unfortunately early. I do think it's a point of contrast with Bioware games, both in the number of choices and how they're handled; I think a Bioware version of the Holy Tomb scene would probably involve standing there for a few minutes asking both Edelgard and Rhea questions.
Also, I've never played a Warriors game and I'm not that sure about the style, but I liked this game well enough that I need to know what happens in that upcoming spinoff. *How is Claude not bi? Honestly. They might be getting better with LGBT representation in the series, particularly compared to their last attempt in Fates, but they've still got quite a way to go.
