It's nice that it's still live. Ubisoft shutters MP games after 2 years. Just a shame they didn't do anything with the multiplayer for the legendary edition e.g. improved graphics, additional content or at least the ability to have cross platform (which would extend the life a great deal)
They could have if they wanted to but chose not to do so.
Apart from the cross-platform ability, features like improved graphics and additional content have already been done by modders like Mgamerz and the ALOT team. I've been using upgraded graphics for ME3MP for years with ALOT.

As far as I'm concerned they either make shitty games or games I'm personally not interested in (and which apparently get shittier each iteration as well). Maybe Sony should buy them and make some of their franchises awesome again.  Yeah I know, unfortunately a lot of fans believed them when they said they might do something with the MP provided MELE sells well (they clearly never had any intention to do so) Totally sucks. I wanted to get the Legendary Edition and waited for quite a bit after they said they were looking into adding the MP at a later time if sales were good. Apparently they were but no news on the multiplayer. Another Bioware/EA scam because I wouldn't be surprised if some people who weren't sure if they should the LE were making up their mind after that news. Glad I waited. Maybe I'll pick it up one day in a deep sale for the SP.

Me neither. At least I stopped that behaviour (if it was ever there) with ME Andromeda when I tortured myself through 100h of MP only to realize they won't be making the damn game any better and instead just made it actually worse by diluting the loot pool and then abandoning it completely. I also never preorder games and wait for reviews or just wait until the game is completely patched, GOTY'ed or whatever if it's not something I want to absolutely play right then and there (which is the case with most titles except for a few ones every now and then). As for the second part of your reply... maybe it's option 3: Bioware actually wanted to add it but then EA was like "no, work on the next ME and DA because adding MP won't make us money". Although... if they had kept the loot box shenanigans that actually might have made them some money. So maybe your two options are more likely.

Here's where I have to step back and at least admit we are in speculation land, and interpreting Bioware/EA's thinking is as much a projection of our own experience/bias as anything else. But we'll do it anyway ...
Option 3 is also a possibility. Likely different plans/hopes from different managers (when have all your managers been on the same page??). Even if so, if I was an EA suit, the case, based on MELE success, is not compelling. How do I monetize MP? Separate purchase (piss off everyone)? Same as OG MP (pay-to-win in today's world, not likely)? Create new (and ongoing?) cosmetic content? Or should I just put those resources to the next AAA titles, critical to future success?

Just reactivated the account to say congratulations to BW for making a TPS MP game that lasted ten years, to all the old farts that still play this gem, and to hope that the next ME game can deliver a similar experience that ME3MP gave to all of us.

So squishy, so fun. Now there is a kit/combo I have not played in a long, long time. I might have to fire that up tonight just for the memories. I remember doing some Gold Solos and just laughing at how easy it was. Tac Cloak, Prox Mine, Headshots. Reload. Rinse and repeat. Even works on laggy hosts cause of hitscan. This is how a Murderbot should be played. Saren didn't need an army of Krogan, he needed an army of ZGeth, for we are Legion.
