weekly MassEffect Mondays for the past 10 years.. how cool is that. ten years of weekly mondays ! How many misses ? i forgot, (a privilege of getting older. ) But i'd dare say we've been pretty consistent ( as has my very average ability ) .

Yesterday I set up Flawless Widescreen again and tested it in a quick solo. It was a bit tough after all that time of not playing and I totally forgot how absolutely annopying the "one button does everything" shit is in this game. I pressed a non-existing keybind I'm used to from other games quite a few times...

Yes, still - or again - playing. Took a longer break from ME3MP, but it always draws me back, it seems. Seeing lots of new accounts out there (oftentimes on difficulties where they should not have gone yet), as well as player names I recognize from the past years. And still running into BSNers almost every day when pugging.

Does it count if I promise myself in my head that I'll get around to playing tonight?
I've been too busy on the console to try and master KB&M'ing because I am 6month old dumpster trash in 45c heat with the old KB&M.

I've been too busy on the console to try and master KB&M'ing because I am 6month old dumpster trash in 45c heat with the old KB&M. Clearly the answer is to get drunk and play a bunch of games with KB+M. Then you'll forget when you're sober, but when you get drunk again all of a sudden the state-dependent memory will kick in and you'll be amazeballs.
Then you just repeat that until it diffuses to your sober brain. Oooor you just always play after a couple. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
***
If that doesn't work, (I don't see how it couldn't... ) you can always fire up a private lobby and learn the controls without worrying about teammates and dying.
***
PS: Yes it counts.

Reminds me of the time when the accepted reward punishment for going down was taking a shot Have been meaning to do a quick PT on the laptop to get the hang of it, then tried to get the DS4 going, but I got it working once, and never again. I actually did run a private lobby, mashed some buttons, flatlined veeery quicky. Collectors are rude.

Or you could do as any sane person would, and use the controller for playing ME3MP on the PC, too (since you're used to using it). There is a perfectly well-functioning and free MP Controller Support in Mgamerz's Mod manager. Whole-heartedly recommended. I'm sure there's a link here somewhere for dl, also tonnes of info for all the fun stuff. The only thing that you can't easily do is become a running pizza delivery guy. This is the only reason I tried, once again, to use KB+M when got back to the game a few weeks ago. With such disastrous results that I'd rather just enjoy the game the way I learned to play it and can actually play it without destroying my keyboard with all the button (s)mashing. Anyone who claims you can't be a sniper as a controller user, can go rot on dongs and fite me IRL. Or maybe they just need to L2P with the controller. Ohh and good news for sniping compared to sniping in MP3: you can get rid of the idiotic 'aim ASSist' here on PC.

I'd recommend getting used to KB+M. It took me quite a while, but I'd never go back. And now I can jump into other PC games and be (semi) competent.
I did it by opening up a SP save and practicing. But if I'd do it again, I'd set up a private lobby and god mode it till ready for prime time.

But if I'd do it again, I'd set up a private lobby and god mode it till ready for prime time. I'm wondering what exactly people are struggling with when it comes to gaming with KBM. Is it the movement and such on the keyboard or is it the aiming? Because the latter just feels totally natural to me whereas it's such a pain to do it with an analog stick in my opinion and I have a hard time understanding why anybody would struggle with that. There are also plenty of aim games and aim trainers on the web to help with various kinds of mouse movements. I find it easier to understand that people might have problems with the keyboard part and using all kinds of keys. And maybe the coordination of having to handle two devices, one in each hand. Just wondering so maybe the people who are/were not used to KBM can shed some light on this... Personally I use both and actually my Steam library is split almost in equal halves: one section is just titled KBM which obviously contains all the game I play or intend to play with a keyboard and a mouse (most being shooters). And the other section is called PAD and includes everything that I play with a gamepad/controller. I have played on PC since childhood days but also on consoles. I never got used to playing anything that requires aiming with a controller though. I mean... I beat games like Uncharted, Gears of War and such, some on them also on their hardest difficulty. But it always felt like "this would have been much easier with KBM" so it never felt like I accomplished something when I played/beat these games.

Aiming no problem. All good in the hood. Rubbish at it, but still not the real issue More just getting the brain to remember what button to press and where it is, is more of the issue. This being said - data entry is 95% of my job so not an issue itself in using it. I use my laptop far less for gaming as I'd rather sit down on the couch than be at the desk again.

Just wondering so maybe the people who are/were not used to KBM can shed some light on this... It's primarily about relaxation. Computer + desk = work. Lying on the sofa getting stoned or drunk = play. There's no way I can use KBM comfortably for gaming as I don't want to be sitting at a desk any longer than I absolutely have to. I haven't used a KBM setup for gaming in the best part of 30 years - DOOM and Quake while skiving at work. I'm left handed, so using a mouse is a bit like being forced to play a conventional guitar. I can do it, but I suck at it. I know there are left-handed mice on the market, but having learned (more or less) how to use a conventional one it doesn't seem worth the price or effort to re-learn. I've also had a stroke, so that's never gonna happen anyway. Console controllers were hugely beneficial for my rehabilitation. Seriously - better than any physiotherapy. Lastly, there's competitiveness, or more accurately the lack of it. I am apparently devoid of a competitive gene. I don't play PvP ever, and ME3 co-op is the only MP which has ever hooked me. I do like to get 20 headshots with certain kits, but honestly don't really care most of the time. I'm rarely in a hurry playing this or any other game.

Just wondering so maybe the people who are/were not used to KBM can shed some light on this... Personally, it's mainly about trying to find (!) and use all the required keys for the different actions; powers, Ops pack substance abuse, saving my dear life, etc. For me, it's not a problem using two hands; I am a violin player, and I also work and touchtype at the computer all day long. So, much like Grunt Kittenhand here ( yes, that'll forever be how I see the name), the game is more about relaxation. After using kb+m for work, it is actually relaxing for my hands to use a controller - a totally different position and grip. I find it easy to target with a mouse, so my issue isn't related to that, either. I'll also mention that I haven't been a gamer all my life but actually started rather late, in my 30s. However, I did learn to use kb+m in the recent years in games like 7 Days to Die, Valheim and Ark. There, they're ok for me but just can't seem to do it in a faster-paced game like ME3MP. Encouraged by having learned to kb+m in these other games, I made the smug n00b mistake and tried to get acccustomed to using them in Mass Effect, as well. I should have known better but a stubborn redhead will try anything more than once. However, life is too short and I like my full head of hair and less frown lines, so I gave up my forlorn attempts, and went back to the MP Controller Support goodness. I still regret not being able to run with the pizza, but (if there are no obvious runners) I'll do my share by just walking, or slightly faster tiptoeing backwards or light meleeing - extra points for doing it as a Krogan, grunting loudly the whole trip - to victory!

Went online today ... Chirp Still pretty early in NA. In about 5 hours I usually see more people. I dunno if that translates to more where you are though.
Got in a couple games last night that were alright. Trio'd a rough plat match with me and 2 other Geth Troopers. (SlavaUkr_GetVax, forget the other.) Me and him did great, he had a venom. The other guy had a PPR and had a hard time getting a nice line.
I got sync'd two or three times, my dancing wasn't up to snuff. Although one sync was pretty out there. A banshee did her AoE knockback and pushed me... into another banshee behind me. Clever girl.
While my banshee-slaying skills were a bit rusty I've been wrecking Phantoms lately. Have a nice combo for em but it's easily screwed up by pugs. Still, I'm a lot more confident about handling 2-3 of em than I was even a couple months ago. (On my Paladin.)
