I forgot again what ADS stands for, but anyway, we all familiar with the thing i presume. Anyway, each time i try to look at my pelet spread, I DONT SEE any difference with ou without ADS... I know there was a screenshot thread somewhere, but cant find it... I checked the official value though, lemme quote capn233 from a thread where he explained the different weapon stats : "There are two differences with regard to accuracy penalties. The first is that shotguns do not have a penalty for firing out of cover. The second is that in SFXWeapon_Shotgun_Base there is a variable called "ZoomAccuracyBonus" that is set to 0.75 and is used as a multiplier. In simple terms it shrinks the size of the pattern when you are zoomed (ie a distance multiplied by 0.75 is a smaller distance)." Am I alone not seing any difference ? @gaben7 thread made me think about it again
ARf, i m gonna test it noa

You are right. There does not seem to be any difference to pellet spread when hip-firing. Strange. I could have sworn this was not the case previously. Tested with the Claymore and Wraith (both with Smart Choke) a number of times. Below pic is an example. Left hip-fired, right ADS.

I don't know if this is true or not (don't want to spread misinformation) but I remember reading in my stream chat that Crusader gets a no-scope penalty. Like if you don't ADS it does less damage. Need a geek to verify that one.
I think Shogun Gun ADS is good for gauging what range you can get away with if you're trying to shoot at range. Also Geth Plasma Shotgun tracks slightly if when you charge up, aim and release when reticle goes red.

Happy April Fool's Day?
Crusader has no hip-fire penalty. My Geth Engineer Drell Assassin know this gun very well and have told me no.
Capn233 has been called from the depths. I remember these threads.
ADS stands for Aim Down Sights, or something more colorful if you are a poet.
Wraith is only gun you need to test. ADS - sniper rifle. Hipfire across map, maybe a pellet hits. Don't look at the texture applied to the wall, it is all a lie like the cake.

I do ADS shotguns and I feel like it works but I'm calling Scab here.

Did a few Monte Carlo tests: shooting a Geth Prime at a distance and comparing how much damage it gets when the shots were or were not ADSed. 12 shots to the head, non-ADS: 6450 dmg 12 shots to the head, ADS: 8256 dmg 10 shots to the center of mass, non-ADS: 4386 and 4644 dmg (two tests) 10 shots to the center of mass, ADS: 7224 and 7482 dmg (two tests) It would appear that ADS works and the pattern is drawn based on non-ADS accuracy

(how do u keep track of those btw ? ) how do u insure it s the same distance or even aiming quality for both first series? results are pretty consistent with the 0.75 accuracy gain, /thread Means wall pattern and actual pellets pattern are 2 different things, cant believe that

I do ADS shotguns and I feel like it works but I'm calling Scab here. Who s scab ? A guy who can pull the code and understand what's happening profile combat target and looking at the shield value. I think the differences are too large to result from different shooting quality, but even if, then it just says that a human player will get better results by ADSing. Blade Armor returns damage based on Bronze damage IIRC. Banshee stopping works based on health damage not real damage. Nothing new.

Indeed, well done, I should try that command. You print screen to keep track of damages?
I m pretty sure we had a pattern difference on walls in that old thread, but whatever.

Hipfire accuracy penalty for Crusader is real, and makes sense... It is a sniper rifle dressed in a shotgun suit. I knew the cake was a lie. The pellets on the wall were always a distraction, not an indication. burningcherry - what gun did you use for this test? If Crusader, curious.

Looks like this mystery is solved.
I thought we talked about the bullet hit "decals" on walls a long time back on BSN, I don't know I have forgotten a lot of things.
