Cerberus was created by the Alliance as a black ops group. Wouldn't that make the Alliance fascist terrorists as well? That was the original version. Some books and comics were written in-between ME1 and ME2. They completely rewrote Cerberus's origin. It's why I think either a) they should have used a different organization or this Cerberus rose out of the ashes of the last one. I would let Bioware use my fandom faction, Black Talons. No Relationship to Talons of Omega or Overwatch fame.

Cerberus. There would be no Shepard without them. and in me2 they're actually effective. The alliance can suck an egg Con: There would be no colonies of human husks without them, too. Jack. Project: Overlord. Kai Leng. Maya Brooks. Clone Shep. Kahoku. Toombs/Thresher Maws. Horizon in ME3. Fighting Shepard in ME3.
Pro: EDI. Shepard. Jack.
Cerberus did something good in ME2, though it's worth noting that there was mutual need and a ton of money to use. By the end of the SM, Cerberus proved that it still wasn't good and that it was willing to take out Shepard. Cerberus had its uses but it's in no way worth trusting at anytime. The Alliance are morons but at least they're well-meaning and fight against the Reapers rather than stand in the way of everyone who's trying to defeat them.

And then tried to kill him. once they were indoctrinated. TIM had his indoctrination process start around the time of the First Contact War. Then he was activated in ME3, which is in perfect alignment with what we already heard about indoctrinated agents in the Prothean Empire turned against them. I can't remember if we knew this as early as ME1 from Vigil or if we didn't find out until ME3 through Vendetta.
Incidentally, the indoctrinated in the Prothean cycle argue for Control. That should tell us something.

I don't know if this is the answer you're looking for, but Vigil already stated that several Protheans were indoctrinated back in ME1. Javik confirms this. I am assume in each cycle the Reapers used the divide and conquer tactic. As for TIM I don't know when he first was indoctrinated, but he fell perfectly into the Reapers plans.

As for TIM I don't know when he first was indoctrinated, but he fell perfectly into the Reapers plans. It's never said explicitly that he was likely indoctrinated long ago, but it is known he was exposed to Reaper tech during the First Contact War and his techno-eyes are based on Reaper tech.

Cerberus, they have drip and gorgeous women. I agree I like playing as a male Shepard and having a sexy Miranda as my second in command. Also the Normandy SR2 was great looking and the crew uniforms were stylish. Plus they had a cook on board.

I'd prefer to freelance. Team Normandy. Shepard's a spectre who's got charisma and a large following of people who worship and follow them. There's really no need for them to be in the alliance at all. It's just more red tape. And I get sick of seeing Shepard salute those two stooges Hackett and Anderson. The alliance is pretty useless and Cerberus are recklessly stupid and untrustworthy. Shepard would be better off being a freelancer.

The Alliance is a bureaucratic dumpster fire of red tape, like our governments and militaries. Cerberus is what happens when bureaucracy and safeguards are removed: you get results but everyone is dead.
It's a question of what organization sucks the least for what situation. The Derelict Reaper is a perfect example: Cerberus immediately set up a research station inside the corpse and got the Reaper IF but everything as well as everyone was lost. The Alliance would probably set up an orbital station and spend the next few decades studying the reaper by using drones and might stumble upon the IF by accident.

Since the Alliance wasn't getting stuff done, because they wasted 2 1/2 years, there was no need to fill out any paperwork. If they did, I wouldn't be surprised if the paperwork was put in a folder labeled Nothing got done.

The Illusive Man was pretty straight forward with Shepard. He could've had a chip installed into Shepard that would have killed him if he went against TIM's orders. But TIM didn't. He could have prograamed EDI with a self destwuct but he didn't. TIM with SHepard got things done and saved humantiy from the Collectors. It sucks that in the 3rd game TIM went insane and lusted for the ability to control the Reapers. I would have preferred a choice serve the Alliance or serve Cerberus with ME2 TIM.
