I've been playing the Witcher series for the first this past month, and have noticed there are no female dwarves or gnomes for that matter. I know according to the lore dwarves originate from Mahakam. But where are the females?

Not that this helps a ton, since all VO is voiced male, but the game will tell you several times that beards on a female dwarf are common. Essentially, Dwarves in The Witcher are Bizarro-world Asari.

Gimli lied to mess with Eowyn. They spring up out of the ground. Deal with it.
Alternately, The Witcher world canonically has several ages ahead before they get to asphalted roads and, presumably, the emancipation of women. Maybe the women dwarves and gnomes are working their asses off behind the doors of all those rendered huts, cleaning and cooking and... hanging up their laundry indoors. And hey, you gotta respect cultural differences.
Alternately alternately, CDProject Red just cut some corners.
To be fair, I don't remember there being any explicitly or obviously female dwarves in the books either.

Aulë's children, born first on middle earth from the stone, and then made dormant because Eru is dumb like most deity fantasy, and can't see what any of his children are up to. Some call this 4d chess because they believe in Destiny, but if destiny is preordained what's the point of all the drama?
Jealous Gods, never gets old or makes any sense.

I always liked the Terry Pratchett description of dwarves "All dwarfs have beards and wear many layers of clothing. Their courtships are largely concerned with finding out, in delicate and circumspect ways, what sex the other dwarf is."

Haha. Anyway, for anyone that hasn't played Thronebreaker, that is Zoltan's paramour, Eudora.
