I remember back in 2014 getting tired of "Halo" as well as "CoD" and I decided to check out these single player games.
I was amazed by the characters, world, and story created in them! They were something new and refreshing. But since then it seems like the video game industry is more interested in rehashing old ideas. Maybe instead of continuing "Mass Effect" they should make a new space adventure.
It would also be nice if we got another "UbiArt" game instead of "Assassin's Creed 500" or "Watch Dogs 11".

No, there's still plenty of games today that are really good. I just feel that Youtubers once again exaggerating things for clicks. Gaming like many entertainments is just changing. Right now, the thing that many people are interested in are remasters and remakes so of course the market is going to adjust to that.

Granted las tyea was a bit weak bu tassuming all the games tha tae rscheduled t ocome ou tthis year sta yon track Id sa ytheend of this year is looking pretty strong as there's at leas t3 or 4 tha thave my attention coming out in the final 3 months of the yea rwhich is pretty rare tbh considering recent years. There aer 1 or 2 tha tlook good that I could see myswelf picking up a tsome point bu twill likely wait for a later date. Mainly so that I don't end up bankrpting myself having recentl ybought a series X. But yeah as you say youtubers have a tendency to exaggerate things

The triple-A games can be very similar to each other, closing on online-only looter-shooters and collectathons at the moment, but independent and relatively low-budget games still have enough diversity in terms of story and gameplay. As a general rule, if the publisher advertises "realistic"/"cinematic" graphics/mocap, the size of the map/length, it is better to skip.
Though, I probably would not mind if everything was Souls-like (interesting story, engaging combat, meaningful loot, customizable and silent avatar who always wears a helmet) with pixel art.

Anthem says hi, but it flopped I think you may have to do the same thing you did back in 2014 and look for new ips from smaller companies. Once the corporate giants get a hold of these developers, expect a part 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of a game until it is no longer profitable.

If Anthem would have been a single player RPG, maybe it would have been a success, but Bioware wanted to do a Looter Shooter instead, and failed

I think your OP already exposes the flaw in your premise. In 2014, you checked out one game from 2007, one from 2011 and two smaller (one definitely indie) games from 2014. So you had 4 games from a period of 7 years, which you found interesting and novel.
If we equate that to 2022, I'd have the freedom to choose 4 games from 2015 to now and I can even include Indies. I mean, there would be absolutely no trouble whatsoever to find 4 engaging games and many more.
In short, no, if anything, I think games became more diverse and there are a lot of premises explored today. A lot of it happens in the indie and AA segments but given that AAA games require investments of tens of millions, sometimes hundreds of millions of dollars, it's hardly surprising that they are more risk adverse and they usually just try to perfect tried and true formulae. Nevertheless, there are new and interesting games coming out even in that segment from time to time.
And by the way, all of that is certainly not very different from 2014. Things were different in the 90s and early 2000s, with much smaller dev teams and productions but for 10-15 years, that division in the gaming industry has been pretty much established.

They still exist and are just as rare as they were back then. Now you have to wait and see if there is an audience for a major publisher to make steps to improve for they don't want to put 10s if not 100s of millions of dollars into a game and not see it pay off. If you look at the smaller studios that is where you are going to find the games that are taking the more creative route until they get noticed and then run into the game problem of budgets and expectations of sales.
What I have seen of the purchasing side of players the Field of Dreams saying "if you build it they will come" doesn't apply they are much happier with their yearly releases of the same boring IPs then a developer taking any risk.
