I have found that unless you take mounted combat feats, it's better to not bother riding the mount.

I have found that unless you take mounted combat feats, it's better to not bother riding the mount. It's the mobility that works so well for me. Watching a Paladin in heavy armour trudge across the battlefield without making attacks for half the combat really annoys me. Get to the enemies in one turn and make a whole bunch of attacks between the mount and the rider just makes things so much easier. It's a quality of life issue. Once you get to a decent level you can usually get around negatives like fear etc.

Did Lost Chapel last night, went as well as it could really. Only difficult fight is the demon thing just before you go into the cave with the Desnan artifacts. Level draining b*tard that it is.
On to Drezen! Going to go with Regill's plan. Again. I always end up going that way, it just makes the most sense, although it does mean I'll have to take Regill instead of Seelah. Also it'll take longer to get to the prison to release Arue, so I need to take along Camellia as lock picker. I suppose she can cast Slumber as well, but I've never rated her build. Probably should have re-spec'd her into something more interesting to me.

Grinding through Chapter 3. Did U;brig's personal quest stuff yesterday. That super-buffed Barbarian can be a real pain. TPK first time around as none of my 3 dispellers could roll more than an 8 over multiple rounds of trying. Second time around they got the rolls and I used the mug of summoning to get an Azata who did some dispelling as well. Still took some damage, but it wasn't too bad.
A few days ago the Ancient Sarkorian Ghost nearly did for me. For such a minor encounter he always manages to take out most of my party before they can even act.
The other reload I had to do was the Red Dragon. Failing just one of the skill rolls on the approach leaves you mostly unbuffed and damaged in front of an unsurprised ancient dragon. Who then kills the party. Make the rolls and you have time for buffs and a stealthy approach, which gives you a much better chance of winning.
Did Wintersun as well, whose ending is always a bit tragic. Chose to free them but let them know what they did. At least the new headwoman has a nice 2H sword for sale.
They seem to have re-jigged some of the Crusade encounters. The fire-bolting general in Ch2 was not nearly as lethal as before, didn't have to cheese him at all. But the garrison of the Lands of Yatch Watch, the most important fort out there, now has a powerful garrison with a general whose firebolts are lethal to my poor marksmen. Had to re-load that one and go elsewhere, planning to come back later with a better army and maybe enough patience to cheese it.

Taking a break from WotR at the start of Ch4 because I failed my Willpower check and bought Rogue Trader in the Steam Sale.
The character system they are using is not great to be honest. Lots of fiddly bits with no indication of how they fit into a wider context. Very few classes (archetypes) and just a general feeling of impenetrability. The setting and plot are fine, as are the companions, although the lack of class differentiation means some of them are a bit samey mechanically.

x.com/OwlcatGames/status/1823374850661998978Today, we have exciting news for everyone who loves narrative-driven video games — Owlcat Games is embarking on a new quest to help other studios as a publisher. We will work with teams that share our passion for telling captivating stories through narrative-driven games.
Together we want to deliver new, exciting experiences, akin to what we as a studio aim to create ourselves.
After reviewing more than 50 projects, we have signed deals with two talented development teams — Emotion Spark Studio, based in Serbia, and Another Angle Games, based in Poland.
Emotion Spark Studio is working on a narrative RPG called @ruevalley . It is a story about a man trapped in a mysterious time loop, who faces his mental challenges to uncover the origins of the anomaly.
Another Angle is creating a turn-based isometric RPG set in an alternate feudal Japan called Shadow of the Road @sotr_game . It is an immersive story about samurai, honor, and allegiance, combined with a deep tactical turn-based combat system in a world filled with magical yokai and deadly steampunk technology.
Both games are still in the early stages of development, and we will share more information about them later this month. Stay tuned!

New Rogue Trader companion with the DLC: The Imperium is founded upon death and bloodshed, and maintained only by the further sacrifices of Humanity. There are those for whom death is a way of life, and death cults of many types can be found on worlds across the Imperium. They revel in holy slaughter, dedicating their victims’ souls to Him, offering up blood sacrifices to the God-Emperor so that He might answer their prayers.
The practices of these Death Cults are dark and terrifying. Common folk maintain a superstitious fear of ruthless assassins who specialise in ritual murder, self-mutilation and bloody communion. Vague omens can make these zealots target seemingly innocent people just as easily as obvious enemies of the Imperium.
One such cult lurks within the bowels of the von Valancius flagship. For years, the ascetic and inscrutable servants of the Bloodspun Web have protected the dynasty from enemies aboard the vessel, stalking the threats hiding in lower decks and spraying the bulkheads with the blood of their victims.
Kibellah is a masterful assassin whose talent and fanatical devotion to the Undying Emperor has earned her the title of the Second Spinner of the Bloodspun Web. Since childhood, she has dedicated herself to rigorous training of mind and body, perfecting the art of the blade dance and mollifying her emotions. Kibellah has no desires, only duty; no fear, only purpose. She is the perfect instrument of death, and this undying servant of the Undying Emperor has left the shadows to become the Rogue Trader's personal bodyguard.
Her specialised blades and ritualistic arts are at the Lord Captain's service, as is her sophisticated mind. She recognises the signs sent by the Emperor, even through the veil of mundane reality. Her world is a realm of riddles and blood that interweave and resolve into momentous insight. To that end, she bears the greatest relic of the cult: a sacred deck of the Emperor’s Tarot. The cards speak the will of the Undying One and reveal the names of those who must depart. Every new reading reveals ever more clearly that the greatest moment of her life is at hand. The Immortal Emperor holds an exceptional destiny in store for His servant, who is now ready to step into the future.

Replaying Kingmaker, again. Might actually finish this time... we'll see.
Just got to the Blakemoor fight. So much crappy encounter design in this game.
Edit: not actually Owlcat's fault this time. Wasn't this the quest they outsourced to RPGCodex?

Recent patch seems to have fixed the desyncing issue with Rogue Trader. Back to a weekly MP game.

The final Golden Dragon update was released, at least I was able to download it today. There will be no new content for WOTR, only bug fixes. Also, Owlcats release the whole thing in a single package. store.steampowered.com/sub/1171676

So I feel finished with Veilguard for now closing In on 2 playthroughs, and I am waiting for Avowed and KCD II next year, and was thinking what to play. Then I remembered the Pathfinder games, and they are on PS4/5, which Is great because I prefer console right now.
Can someone here explain to me exactly what type of games they are? Is It like BG3 where you have a band of misfits and go on a long adventure camping here and there, or more like having a base and building It up with doing quests etc. No clue about these games, so sell them to me! Or rather Inform me. Kingmaker Is on sale for like 5 bucks right now, so I'm very tempted.
Thanks In advance.

Or rather Inform me. Kingmaker Is on sale for like 5 bucks right now, so I'm very tempted. Thanks In advance. Note that I know nothing about those games on console, I own them on PC. They are more like BG1/2/Icewind Dale or Pillars of Eternity if you played that. Isometric party based cRPG games. You can choose real-time-with pause or turn-based for the combat and they use the Pathfinder 2.0ish rulesets (similar to D&D). Overall it's going to be more old school than BG3. Larger party too. They have both camping and base building, basically the map is large and travelling between areas can be in days so you have to camp here and there. But at some point you gain a base your return to and need to make decisions at and it impact stuff. Both are super long games (90+ hours). I also think they are overtuned, i.e. encounters designed for min/max builds, but you can fine tune the difficulty to alleviate that a bit. Kingmaker has you rule a piece of land eventually, while having to travel around to deal with stuff and events on a timer. I personally find the timer annoying, so I never finished the game as a result, but the first 4-5 chapters are great. For $5 you should get lots of fun with it if you like isometric party based games. Wrath of the Righteous has some strategy units combat since you end up commanding an army (not sure if they fixed the settings where you can put that on auto). And QoL improvement over Kingmaker, but falls into the same pitfall where it doesn't just want to be a party based RPG from my point of view. I also never finished it (but have near 120 hours in it). It also goes into mythic character level.

Or rather Inform me. Kingmaker Is on sale for like 5 bucks right now, so I'm very tempted. The party operates from a base but usually has to camp on the road a few times. It is mostly isometric compared to BG3, being not a real 3D, but there are some limited 3D elements. You have complete control over what you do and can be as evil or sweet as you want. Note that the ruleset and progression are very complex and require some basic understanding and getting into. It does pay off very nicely though. You can do pretty much whatever you want with the builds at lower difficulty levels while higher difficulties require more careful approach when you should try to stay consistent with your party development and look for items and consumables that fit your agenda. There are plenty of guides and reviews around for both games. I think, Moritismal has some decent YT videos for beginners, and Fextralife, Wergilia, and cRPG Bro have more advanced guides going really deep into the details. The games are very complex and offer essentially endless options for classes/multiclasees, items, consumables, and quests, which work (or don't) in various combinations. You can play either turn-based on real time with pause. IMO, turn-based is recommended for the starters so that you have general idea about what is going on. Both games are very long and may take up to 150 hours or longer to finish if being thorough. I have around 500 hours in Kingmaker and close to 700 hours in WotR, so obviously both games are highly recommended. Just keep in mind that both games are not very forgiving, and your actions have sometimes very dire consequences. Kingmaker runs on a timer, which is fairly generous if you have even a slight idea what you are doing. WotR is more generous with the timer, which can be largely ignored, and is generally a bit easier game overall on medium difficulties, while offering way more diversity in character and party building. If you want to try, it might be a good idea to get some GOTY editions with all DLCs because these add substantially to the overall experience.
