It seems like Americans TV watchers are more open minded about sci fi and fantasy nowadays.
But back during the 2010-2014 time period American TV viewers seemed more interested in reality TV.
Why were American TV watchers less open minded about sci fi and fantasy in the 2000s and beginning of the 2010s?

Why were American TV watchers less open minded about sci fi and fantasy in the 2000s and beginning of the 2010s? I guess no one watched Star Trek Enterprise, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica , Stargate Universe, Farscape, Star Wars the Clone Wars, Andromeda, Firefly not to mention non space themed sci-fi like Lost, Fringe or X-Files.
