I also think Rezaren is voiced by René Dawn-Claude, one of the German Inquisitor's voices [img src="//storage.proboards.com/6576594/images/bYmUqWGYNIhNE0GJanhP.png" alt="[3" class="smile"] Should I be correct in regard to Rezaren, isn't it funny that another "Inqusitor" is featured in a dub?
Bearing in mind that one of the English speaking Inquisitors, Sumalee Montano, is voicing Hira, that makes two examples of the "Inquisitor" featuring in the series.

When you also consider all the M/F human-elven pairings, it’s no wonder the race is doomed if the only elf attracted to other elves is Solas.
I have to admit that I am hoping that this time round my male elf will have the opportunity for an elf female romance. So far I've either had to opt for a non-elf pairing or play as gay and romance Zevran. No such problem for my female heterosexual elves. I was also somewhat peeved that my male PCs never get to marry, whatever their race. Well, I suppose, technically that isn't true because Cousland does get to marry Anora, but we never see the service. We don't even get to marry Josephine on screen in Trespasser.

Do you have an elven protagonist as your canon in both DAO and DAI?
Even as a huge fan of the elves, I have to admit that we've had too many elven characters whose personal story revolves around their oppression. It becomes increasingly hard to make it a fresh and interesting narrative.
I feel like we've covered every potential story and anything else would be only a slight variation of that. Maybe it would be fun to see an elven slave who runs off and joins the Dalish (again, nothing new, but we haven't gone deep into that kind of character yet).
So far, Vaea and Sera are the ones who've challenged this formula the most. They are more focused on common, people-people concerns and goals.

Still looking forward to watching the show and season 1 has to be insanely abysmal for me to not watch a potential season 2.
However, and I know I’m in the minority here, Imho Matt Mercer is overrated and overused to the point that I’m tired of so easily recognising his voice. As interesting as Fairbanks would be as a character, I hope he stays in the show and not in the game.
Remember, remember the Palace of Winter, the Qunari gaatlok attack. I know plenty of reasons, why Fen’Harel’s treason should end with a knife in his back.
It is nice to see the beautiful Cassandra back again, I can only she place a prominent role! It does make me wonder the fate of the Divine if we saw her in Lilliana in their DAI attires.

He can actually do very different voices (his Aloth in Pillars of Eternity doesn't sound like him, unlike his Edèr), he's just rarely asked to do so like a lots of voice actors now who seems to be told to do their most popular voice instead of flexing their voicing talent these days.

yeah since she's my favorite character I have to resist the urge to yell out "Cassandra!" For all future DA projects. Hopefully we get a cameo in Dreadwolf.

It is more unusual for me not to play elves. With D&D my favourite was usually a fighter/mage.
DAO: I started with male Dalish rogue (romanced Morrigan initially but swapped to Zevran); next female elven mage (romanced Alistair); next female city elf rogue (romanced Zevran). Only after exploring these 3 origins did I opt for playing a male Cousland, where I deliberately made a character who would eventually spare Loghain and marry Anora. In the end I decided my canon would be my female city elf.
DAI: I started with a female Dalish mage because I'd planned from the outset to romance Solas (really got burned by that one); next I played Dalish male rogue (opted to make him gay to explain why he wasn't already married in the clan, so I could romance Dorian); then Dalish male mage (bit of a subversive who had a bit of fun pretending to be convinced that he was the Chosen of Andraste; he romanced Cassandra). At present I'm going with my gay Dalish as my canon but might swap back to the Solasmancer.
Whilst I will probably play an elf again in DA:D, I'm actually a bit wary about automatically going for the elven romance option. Having had Fenris walk out on me after sex and then leave me dangling for 2 years, followed by Solas who did the same and then dropped the Trespasser bombshell on me, I've decided that perhaps my elf obsession isn't entirely good for me.

So far, Vaea and Sera are the ones who've challenged this formula the most. They are more focused on common, people-people concerns and goals.
I was never entirely convinced by Sera and her "I'm for the little people" claim, particularly after that weird episode with the noble, where if you take too much time questioning him (which on the face of it is a sensible move) she jumps in and pummels him to a pulp, yet if you effectively blackmail him, she thinks that is a great idea. I thought she was unhappy that he'd murdered one of her little people but apparently not. The people she seems to identify with the most are not just ordinary peasants but the criminal element of society and uses championing the little people as an excuse for her activites.
The other problem I had was with her whole attitude towards not just the Dalish but the city elves too. We had the whole ridiculous cookie story about why she hates nobles, which seemed rather petty to me, but never an explanation why she was so anti-elf herself. She regarded the vhenadahl as a "stupid tree" and breaks up with her "Inky" just because she won't deny the Temple of Mythal is real, which is absurd. I originally thought her resentment of the city elves was because of the whole arranged marriage idea and that she had fled them to avoid this, but according to WoT2 she left the alienage as a child and that is why the noblewoman adopted her. Did her parents die and the other elves simply leave her to starve? That would at least explain her contempt for alleged city elf solidarity but not the Dalish. She never seems to have left Denerim before joining the Red Jennies, so what experience did she have to explain her resentment of the Dalish? I wish they had told us.
That's why I found Vaea so refreshing. She decided the life of the Dalish wasn't for her but she still seemed to respect them, probably because of her uncle but nevertheless she did. She took the opportunity given to her to be a squire to a human but she never forgot her roots and continued to show solidarity with the alienage elves, helping them when she could. In other words, she was pretty similar to my own PCs.

Jackdaw did point out in his video that the timeline may be back when the Inquisition was still operational. It may be that the series will leave the date of the action deliberately ambiguous.

I think there has been a fair bit of variety in how this has been dealt with but the fact is the elves are oppressed in Thedas and, unless you get a Divine Leliana, this is unlikely to change because it has religious sanction, in the south at least. You could make the same argument about mage characters we have encountered in the south, apart from Vivienne who decided to play the Game to her advantage once she had caught the affections of a noble. One the of interesting aspects of heading to Tevinter is that dynamic is going to change for mages. Hopefully, they could do something similar with elves in the north. According to World of Thedas only around half the slaves in Tevinter are elves, so presumably that means that a fair number of elves in Tevinter are not at the bottom of the pile. A Liberati who has made a success of their life after being freed would be an interesting take for a character in the game.
However, I will admit that Miriam seems to follow the more usual pattern of escaped slave who is haunted by their past. Still, this is a TV series where at least some of the viewers will be newcomers to the setting, so using the main character to highlight this aspect of Tevinter society is understandable. So long as it is made clear that it is not just elves that are slaves.

It will be interesting to see how they handle that aspect. For fans of the series who have some experience with the Lore we'll have understanding of what is going on. If a Qunari is shown on screen in that situation we'll automatically know the significance of it...but a newbie will be like 'what the heck is that?' Will the writers feel the need to exposit? How heavy will the exposition be? Or will they just throw that stuff in there and then hope people will do their own research if they have any questions?
Though on the flip side I think people may get the point just by seeing Dwarves and Humans mixed in there too, if they get a mage in as well and manage to convey the sense that Tevinter is a magocricy that'd just be icing on the cake.

Long time no see everyone, I hope you are well and don't mind me chiming in with something other than the current topic
I am pretty exited for the series and early December as well, but I was also curious and a little bit concerned about the German voice actors in specific since it's been so long, you know? (And although I usually like to play games with the original voices, sometimes it's also nice to play a game with your native [in my case German] dub, if it's available and well done, and I guess I am one of the few who likes the German localisation despite it's flaws). When I saw Cassandra would be in this series I felt the need to know if she'd have her voice from the games (because she had a different voice in Dawn of the Seeker and voice consistency is simply important to me, I don't know if it's just me haha) so I checked Netflix for a trailer with German dub and there it was! Consequently, I am happy to announce that Cassandra still has the same voice and I also think Rezaren is voiced by René Dawn-Claude, one of the German Inquisitor's voices Should I be correct in regard to Rezaren, isn't it funny that another "Inqusitor" is featured in a dub? That's all I wanted to get off my chest, and since it's some positive stuff I thought "why not?" Although maybe only one other person on here might be familiar with the German voices 😅 Anyways, I am glad there's new DA stuff to talk about again and I hope December will be a great month for us!
I am and i was really happy too.
I wasn't that positive about the serie.
But the trailer show me the atmosphere and the animtion look a bit better too. So now i am really excited.

What i have read from the blog. The writer have look the lore up. So i hope to see this information for new and old dragon age fans. This serie should help to bring in new gamers for Dragon age D. So they need to explain lore without it being boring. I am very curious how they manage it.

The dragon in the poster looks a lot like Flemeth's dragon model from DA2.
That dragon is the same model as they used for the cover art of DA2. The only difference being that dragon was red but the latest one is purple, which is in keeping with the colour scheme for DA:D. Inquisition had a dragon in a similar pose but pale like a spirit and with the image reversed. So essentially that dragon on the poster is the trademark dragon of Dragon Age updated for the latest marketing.

An awesome DA fan gave me the heads-up on an upcoming Netflix Geeked "Toon In" Twitch Episode that will focus on Dragon Age Absolution.
It was announced at the tail-end of their previous episode, "We will be here on December 1st and it's gonna be Dragon Age Day so make sure you tune in to Toon In, we're gonna have a whole bunch of cool surprises, so thank you so much guys"
Likely an advance preview of the first episode, with possible interviews, etc. This may have been what they were referring to in the blurb for the last trailer, "PS: if you’ve read this far, see you on Dragon Age Day. Or maybe sooner!"

Wow, that would make a lot of sense, although Tevinter Nights said that they are kept loyal by holding their family hostage, yet she says she never knew her mother, the woman who owned her filling that role. I hardly think she would owe her any loyalty. I see you are unsure of this. Perhaps it was a relative of Miriam who was the Siccari and she was the one who was held hostage against their good behaviour.
The other characters seem fairly much what you would expect. Tevinter Templars aren't like the Templars down south and it would seem are often used by the Altus to further their own agenda. The connection between Miriam and Rezaren was hinted at in the trailer. I would guess as much about Lacklon from his description. Hira is more of a surprise though; do you really think she is a possessed blood mage? How come?
