Armor piercing IV
Never can go wrong with APIV.
Add Heavy Barrel, for that extra oomph.

I only use this gun for solos but if you go for U/U when pugging I'd say it would depend on which kit you use, with a biotic kit I'd go with Warp ammo, for other kits Incendiary or Disruptor, mainly Incendiary for kits with flamer, Incinerate or inferno nades, for more weapon based kits like the GI I'd go with Disruptor, especially on Platinum a Venom with Incendiary ammo does pitiful damage vs Atlas shields.

Incendiary. Always incendiary. You don't need extra mook killing power, you need extra boss killing power vs armor and with incendiary you get fire explosions.

Tried a few different ammo types last night after rage quitting cause Phoenix Vanguard/Claymore was getting me nowhere (thanks lag).
Cryo ammo on the HSol wasn't very effective.
Will give something else a try tonight.
I just wish that using the Venom didn't make my hand feel like it's turning inside out from holding down the mouse button.
Still, at least it can be fired without charging, unlike the Acolyte.

Max effectiveness? Warp on biotics unless they have warp as an ability then incendiary bc of glitch stacking and you can still generate fire explosions. Incendiary is almost always best imho especially with a detonating ability. You can go disruptor as well for a little more cc on unprotected enemy and shield stripping and the tech bursts will be a little larger AOE than fire explosions are. That said for killing power incendiary is king on the venom especially on kits with multiple detonating fragments like clusters and multifrags. You want to charge and release the shot that will spread the trident shaped grenadelets from the venom in a way that Max's their AOE in mobs then detonate with your ability. For troublesome foes like phantoms or singles just fire a charged shot at their feet and watch the bitches go flying.

When searching for unknown enemy, what would be your go to ammo type when using the Venom? If playing as a biotic that can prime targets with more than just Warp, Warp rounds. If not, Incendiary for engineers, Disruptor for infiltrators, and Cryo for CS builds. But usually incendiary rounds.
