For some reason the first Mass Effect with it's brighter color palette and shinier "Star Trek" aesthetic makes it feel like it could have been made in the 90s. There is also the theme of discovery in ME1.
It seems like society was more optimistic for the future and excited for space back in the 90s.
If they make a Mass Effect TV show I think rock, hip hop, and pop from the 90s could go good with seasons covering ME1.
And 2000s music would go well with seasons covering ME2 and ME3.
Does ME2 and ME3 feel like 2000s sci fi because of influence from "Firefly" and "BSG"?
MEA feels like J.J. Abrams "Trek".
I like For All Mankind's inclusion of period music.
Would adding modern music to the Mass Effect TV break immersion or would adding 90s music to the ME1 season and 2000s music to the ME2 and 3 add to nostalgia?
It would be cool seeing Joker having fun listing to some 90s grunge music.

I've always felt that the first Mass Effect was inspired by Star Trek of the 60's, Mass Effect 2 by the action movies of the 80's/90's and Mass Effect 3 by the early 2000's movies.
