For the sake of the conversation, we can include IPs that did in fact receive games, but they weren't widely loved and/or wildly successful. A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones has received a few games, I think the Telltale Games one received the most attention, releasing as it did at the height of the shows powers. But what else? The Boys? Won't someone think of the children? Supernatural? Has possibilities, but maybe too niche a fandom. Fast and the Furious? Possible GTA clone. Maybe not. The Expanse? Don't know enough about it or Starfield, but it seems like there'd be a lot of crossover between the two. The Wheel of Time received a game waaay back. Or was it two? But I'd be up for a big name developer taking a swing at it. Those are my options, although none of them really demand the game treatment, I guess. Thoughts?

I can picture an Expanse RPG. Starting with a different origin (Belter, Martian marine, Earth agent), getting thrown in a complicated political plot, be a part of the first entanglements with the proto molecule, then get sent through the portals on different missions, exploring some ancient mystery.
Supernatural - plenty of lore, loads of possible stories, tons of skills and abilities to give the players to toy with.
Parks and Recreation - I can see so many possibilities here. From a funny Tycoon game to a full blown Leslie Knope RPG, trying to keep the city from sinking while juggling relationships.
The Stormlight Archive series - obviously any fantasy series can get games about it, but I'd like to roam in this one.

Middle-earth. It's bizarre that there hasn't been a proper RPG in that setting already—well, not since 1992, at least. I wouldn't even necessarily want it to be AAA, though I imagine that's the most likely option. Maybe if the upcoming TV show and film do okay we will get something.

Firefly - never gonna happen but I'd love it. Maybe Starfield will be able to give us something of a facsimile. Wheel of Time - Could be a brilliant big open world RPG. The Expanse - though the tricky part would be how to do Expanse style space battles in a fun way in gameplay. Maybe rather do a Mass Effect style RPG, which takes place mostly on the ground. James Bond - Alpha Protocol was great and I'd love to see another modern-day spy RPG. Since the question is, which big IP, I'll choose this one but it might as well be 24 or the Jason Bourne universe. Honestly, it could be a new IP for all I care. The point is, you'd create your own 00/CTU/CIA agent and go on missions, decide wether you will be loyal or become a double agent for another faction, etc. Gameplay would be Deus Ex style.
The Hyperion Cantos - Could be a really far future pretty crazy SciFi RPG on multiple worlds, which you traverse easily via Farcaster. It's a bit of a different take on your usual scifi and I'd love to see it visualized.

But I'd be up for a big name developer taking a swing at it. Those are my options, although none of them really demand the game treatment, I guess. Thoughts? For me I think it sounds like my wishes are about to be granted anyway, but for the sake of the conversation I always wanted a super hero RPG either with Marvel or DC characters where you play as a superhero and upgrade your skills/powers/abilities as you progress in the story. I've always thought playing as the likes of Spiderman, Hulk, Ironman or whatever would be cool .Which was why i was pretty hyped fo rth eAvengers game at first as I thought it ws going to be something like that.and whilst I loved that game's story and characters I did feel the gameplay was a bit grindy. That and the fac the game was always online we re the 2 main reasons why I stopped playing as the game was starting t ofeel a bit unbalanced towards the end. I hasve heard they changed it recently a bit but haven't got round to play again so can' tcomment on that. Ihave been tempted to go back and give it another shot just haven' thad the time as I'd like to replay the Reassemble campaign anyway As I said though this is one of the main reasons why I'm personally looking forward to and am hyped for October because we have Marvel's Midnight Sun coming on the 7th and Gotham Knights on the 25th which are both based off Suprehero universes and in these universes ew'l be able t opla ywit hour favouriet heroes and upgrade their skills and abilities. Sam ewith Hogwarts and Harry Potter end of the year though no official date on that games head yet. Thre is a choice/story driven game coming for th eStar Tre kfranchise in Star Trek Resurgence but like Hogwarts it doesn' t have a release date yet either.

Massive points for thinking outside the box.

Been thinking about this a bit more. Other than Middle-earth, I struggle to think of settings from books, film, or TV that I particularly want to see in RPG format. Most of the stuff I like doesn't lend itself all that well to that kind of adaptation. I loved the Arcane TV show last year, enough that I wish Runeterra had a game in a genre I actually like. But I think the best source of inspiration here would be tabletop RPGs. I can think of many of which I'd like to see a video game version: - Vaesen: folk horror in Victorian Scandinavia
- Runequest: fantasy Bronze Age with a mythological scope
- Pendragon: Arthurian legend true to the sources
- Legend of the Five Rings: fantasy samurai-era Japan
- Spire: doomed freedom fighters in a bizarre metropolis
- Wanderhome: pastoral slice-of-life fantasy with cute animals
Even for a Middle-earth game, the ideal for me would probably be something like The One Ring RPG, based on the books and striving to stay true to their tone and themes—so not terribly action-driven.

I'd love to see Shadowrun get a full AAA production for a bioware style rpg. While I enjoyed the trilogy we got from Harebrained, I'd love a fully realized 3d and voice acted world to explore.
As for a space sci fi rpg, Farscape! I'd love for somebody to take a shot at that universe for an rpg game. There are tons of aliens, planets and space tech to explore. I can just imagine having our own Leviathan or battlecruiser to fly around in with a wacky cast of companions and crew!

Expanse, though the requirement to give it an AAA treatment is a bit like a death sentence. That reeks of "all gfx and bling" - mediocre gameplay.

I started the Way of Kings, but only made it about half way through…maybe I should give it another try. Running around with that ghost armour the nobles have would be fun. The thing about the first two books, which is somewhat remedied in the third and fourth, is that the first half of the books is a slow burner and then it suddenly picks up pace and ends up with such a big BANG that you can't wait to continue the journey.

That’s fine as a basic concept, but those books are fricken huge. Getting half way is like reading the entirety of the Lord of the Rings. I’ll get around to it one of these days, I’m sure.

Another visual novel/choose your own adventure movie game? Those are fine, but they’re an entirely different beast to an RPG like Mass Effect or the Witcher or even Tomb Raider/Batman Arkham etc. Harder to get the essence or soul of a setting when you have to balance the gameplay with the lore.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Could be also based on follow-up books/series, where premise was expanded to other mythologies. I've always found the idea of gods adapting to current times fun concept, and playing as demigod could easily bring in interesting gameplay solutions depending on who your divine parent is. If you ever saw the movies but never read the books please do not judge the IP by them. It's one of the titles that got short end of the stick when it comes to adaptiations

My two cents: Modernize Lee Falk's Phantom. He's been using the same tights for 90 years. Phantom would be ideally suited for a game, because his story spans over 500 years, but he's still just a man (or at times, a woman). When he dies, his son or daughter takes his place and becomes the phantom, neatly explaining why he has to start leveling up again.
