Just something I thought about today; looking at their armor they come off more as "Andrastian Dragon Cult" from Haven, than "Andrastian Inquisition".
Sure they have some items with the seeker-eye emblem on it. But so much of their gear has dragon motif's on it but considering their main selling point is that they are an organization lead by "Andraste's Chosen"........you would think they would be hitting that Andrastian Imagery more.
IE something more like what Sebastian has going on with the Andraste belt bucky and white/gold color scheme.
The flaming sword like associated with Andraste/Templars and yet again, dragon stuff on the handle guards.
Was their forge-master one of the cultists recruits and that was all they literally knew how to do? Was Tamar a lot more influential behind the scenes than I thought, did she go "Do dragon-stuff, people love dragon-stuff" when asked how they should design things....?
I mean; aren't dragon's more associated with Tevinter, the oppressors Andraste threw down?
Even in the game the Dragon's are having a come back, running around eating and killing everything in sight from the peasants perspective, the Arch-demon's in appearance at least are a kind of dragon.

Who's "they"? This seems like the second half of a full text.

I think you are looking into it too deep. We can also wear avar and qunari stuff, it doesn't mean we have started following the Qun or Avarr customs. If it helps think of the draconic stuff as trophies since you can kill several high dragons in the game if you want.

Honestly; I wouldn't be surprised if the reason was simply "hey we're making a dragon age game, lets give the protagonist Dragon-themed gear".......but from an in-game lore reason it does raise a couple questions.

What draconic gear is default? I remember getting some half baked incomplete armor at the beginning of the game as default starting gear after the prologue. There is some optional dragon themed dlc weapons and armor you can equip that is available after the prologue. But that isn't default gear.

The helmet; the sword they hand you when you get proclaimed inquisitor, a lot of the gear has kind of a scale design to it, that being said I maybe letting myself get influenced by the DLC content. Maybe also the trailer with the prowler armor leather shoulder guard with the scale design to it. After that I may have just interpreted all scale armor as "dragon-scale" instead of just being scale.

I can think of a few reasons why it makes sense. Dragons represent strength since they are the apex predators of Thedas, so it could be similar to why a lot of knights painted creatures like lions or wolves to represent that. The previous Inquisitor, the last before they went away, was known to be a great dragon hunter so could have inspired it.
Also just because it has scales on the armor doesn't mean dragon. Scale armor is just a kind of armor, like plate or chainmail. They had that in previous games too.

The "Helm of the Inquisitor" supposedly belonged to the former Inquisitor, Ameridan, who was a dragon hunter. The item description- "The last leader of the original Inquisition went by the name Ameridan, a renowned dragon hunter conscripted into the Order for his heroic reputation as well as his skills as a warrior. Records of the era paint him either as a passionate man, determined to do his part to restore order, or as a man of faith, ultimately uninterested in the intricacies of leadership but willing to do what he could for the greater good. A close friend of Kordillus Drakon, the Orlesian emperor responsible for the Chantry's creation, Ameridan vanished soon after the Inquisition's dissolution. Some believe he went on a failed dragon hunt; others say he dropped out of sight so as to not overshadow the newly created Templar Order. Whatever the truth, despite an extensive search ordered by the emperor, he was never seen again." That's why it has a dragon on it. (Granted some of this is incorrect as we find out in Jaws of Hakkon) And the "Flames of the Inquisition" gear was downloadable content was it not? Not even part of the base game, but something just for fun like the Avaar and Qunari armor. I could also point out that this game is called Dragon Age.
