Or are Bro and Sis Ryder more pre-defined than the "create your own" Inquisitor character? Personally I'm probably playing female this time because I didn't dig the male voice I heard in the 4K demo, but if we can switch that would be great. I loved the replayability in DA:I of being able to pick a totally different voice. It revitalized the game almost 4 times through for me AHEM, even though I really hate the game

I'd expect just the one. It made sense to have voice options in DAI because of the racial choice, but that's not an issue here.

I would love if we had an option for voices for our protagonists, but I doubt we will have that in MEA. We had it in DAI because of the race selection, and MEA is forcing us to be just human again.

Well, it really just depends on if it's going to be a stand alone story or a trilogy. If it's stand alone, then sure. I expect different choices. If it's a trilogy, no. I expect to hear one voice, clear and crisp, like a church bell on a winter's night.

I'd rather have the VA budget to be used to voice another NPC character or two in the series rather than wasting that money on double-voicing single characters... you know, so that certain "fans" can't accuse Bioware of "mismanaging" their available funds (referring, of course, to your other thread OP).

I wouldn't think so, like others said, the lack of a racial choice makes it more likely we'll just have one voice. Personally, I'm perfectly happy with that tbh, as long as the voice we do get is enjoyable and has some character. Being able to pick between two preternaturally calm and lackluster voices instead of one in DAI didn't make much of a difference to me in the end. Cool idea but ultimately felt like a waste of resources (obviously just in my opinion, ymmv.)

Probably not, I'd chalk up having 2 voice choices per Sex to a Dragon Age thing due to the race choice in Dragon Age. Also hoping Ryder isn't to pre-defined.

No reason for that. On Dragon Age Inquisition it was necessary since all protagonists were diferent people but here there is only Bro/SisRyder.

They are definitely going to be predefined. We don't even get to choose a backstory since Bioware is forcing a family on us.

I don't see that happening. If what is true about characters having more dialogue, I can't see more than one voice for Ryder to choose from.

I dont think there is any chance of getting a choice even if it is a stand alone game. Firstly, as others have said, there is no racial selection, you are human. Secondly I feel in mass effect you have always played a more well defined character with more story hooks than in DAO or DAI. DA2 was the exception where you played Hawke, but in that case you didn't get to choose a voice either. Andromeda appears to follow this with your father and sibling set for roles. Say you play a male, you will still hear the female voice actor in the game or vise versa.

Ideally one.
I haven't played DA games so I can't attest as to the pros of having a choice with voices, but the illusion of choice has always been strong and present in ME and that has extended to the CC for ME anyways, since its so awful I just stick with the default Shepard.
I don't see this changing with MEA. I expect the CC will probably be better, but I don't see Ryder becoming a character we can fully and wholly define and shape as our own personal character say a protagonist from a Bethesda Elder Scrolls or Fallout game. I prefer ME's approach to it anyway.

Wait and see before you get all bummed or decide how "poorly it's been handled". Even if the backstory is relatively defined, are you really going to be all that disappointed if the game is amazing? Likely not, right? As to the multiple VAs question; I agree that it's unlikely to happen. It would be a waste of budget and time for a game that features male/female human, rather than both genders of four different species/subspecies. I hope I really like these VAs. I wasn't a big fan of the DAI VAs, excepting Alix Wilton Regan. The brief snippet of bro-Ryder's voice was not impressive. Hopefully, I'll learn to love him.

True enough, and I'm not really bummed about us having a defined backstory for Ryder. My actual worry is more on how well they'll handle the Ryder family, being able to pick a backstory would be more of a nice side thing to have.

I really enjoyed having multiple voices to choose from in DAI. It made my different playthroughs feel more unique. And it bothered me the whole way through DA2 that Hawke's voice didn't seem to match my character. That was much less of an issue with DAI so I hope they continue that down the line.
Having said that, I think it is doubtful for ME series. We have always been only human and overall much more defined than DA games. Maybe some day if they give us race options.
