Hi everybody. So I just recently discovered something somewhat of a mystery that is really weird and kinda confusing....Not a HUGE earth-shattering problem, but mildly concerning (because I don't want to re-purchase any content especially if I already own it). SO here's the thing:
On January 6th 2010 I went to my local EB Games/GameStop store and picked up my pre-ordered copy of the Collector's Edition of MASS EFFECT 2 (back when they still had physical disk copies). Two years later (nearly to the day) on January 26th 2012, I returned to the store and picked up my CE for ME 3. I still have the receipts for both games with the boxes and all the added nickknacks.
In Spring of 2013 I accidentally damaged one of the disks for ME 2 when I was taking it out of the case....the clear plastic ring in the very center of the disk cracked and a piece about the size of my thumb nail broke off and is now missing. The disk itself in terms of the readable surface is perfectly perfect-- no scratches or other defects of any kind. But just the same for a long time I didn't play ME 2 because I didn't want to risk further damage to the disk by always putting it in/out of the case.
Then on July 6th 2015 I found the Digital Collector's Edition of ME 2 on sale for 12.99 through ORIGIN and so I made the purchase, deciding to replace the aging disks with a more modern digital download. And all of the really good DLC and CE Content that came with the physica disk version was in tact with this newer digital version (such things as Lair of the Shadow Broker, Kasumi, Zaeed, Overlord etc....All the important things that I care about anyways. It was all there.)
Except today I noticed for the first time that both the CE versions of ME 2 and 3 (2 being the new digital download and 3 being a Cloud-Saved digitized copy of my physical disks)....both versions now read only as "Standard Edition" Owned in the EA App Library. However, when I go to Manage Add-Ons for ME 2 it lists ALL of the DLCs and CE Content as Owned/Installed......The same with 3, except 3 is prompting me to purchase the Digital Deluxe Upgrade for 14.99
But I have all the content and DLCs for the CE.
I tried uninstalling the digital version of ME 2 and reinstalling it. The Install worked fine....But it still registers as the Standard Edition (yet it comes with all of the DLCs).
Then I un-installed and re-installed ME 3......The re-install went just fine, and all of the CE DLC and Other Content was there-- I even got a pop-up notification from the EA App that said "The Collector's Edition of MASS EFFECT 3 is now ready to play" But then I go to My Library and click on the game I immediately see a box that says "Manage Add-Ons" and PLAY....And at the top of this box is says "Standard Edition Owned". Yet I go to Manage Add-Ons and all of the Collector's Edition content is listed as OWNED/Installed.
So my big question is: Why if I own the Collector's Editions of both ME 2 and ME 3 along with all of the CE Content showing as Owned/Installed.....Why does the EA Library register both games as only Standard Editions (though clearly showing CE exclusive DLCs installed).....?
Thoughts on this would be appreciated!
