Hmmm. Including the squadmates or just on Shepard? And for ME2 and 3 are ammo powers allowed? I haven't actually done no power use, although when I started with ME1 I first played soldier and didn't hardly use powers out of some ignorance. In any case, ME3 would probably be the easiest for this because of the weapon balance and low number of enemies fought at once. ME1 would not be entirely horrible if squad powers are allowed. ME2 would be the trickiest. Soldier in that game absolutely no powers would be a bit of a grind. I guess LE gives more ammo, but OG ME2 you would probably have ammo problems early and need to melee. If ammo powers allowed, it would be less painful, and probably not too bad after some weapon upgrades are researched. That really would be interesting, depending on what rules you'd want to follow. Are ammo powers still gunplay? Is bullet-time still gunplay? What about the flash and inferno grenades? I may give this a try For ME1 I would say ammo is not a power, since it is sort of like a weapon mod. ME2 and ME3 they were powers on combat classes though. But a type of "sustained" power, to use Dragon Age terms for it.
Similarly grenades were consumables in ME1 and ME3, but cooldown consuming in ME2.
But yeah I assume different people would have different takes and so the "house rules" would probably be a bit different each time.

Yeah that's another issue. Passives are technically talents, but are never activated and don't use cooldown.
Avoiding storm or scopes is taking it a bit too far for me. Do a playthrough without Shepard using powers and weapons? Let the squad do all the work. The only thing Shepard can do is use the power wheel. I know I've done this a few times on missions, but not for a playthrough. In ME3, Shepard is forced to use a weapon x number of times.
Is the elbow of doom a weapon?
For ME1, a lazy Shepard run seems like it would really suck. The talents / powers are good for CC but bad for damage. And the squad never seemed to be particularly effective with the weapons, although I don't remember if they have actual damage nerfs as they do in ME2 and ME3.

From a role-playing perspective it makes sense as Shepard is a leader and should be commanding his/her troops and not necessarily the first person guns blazing through the door. ME3 is the easiest game to play this way, especially with Godhood Garrus in your party. For this playstyle in ME2, I feel like taking cover and sending your squad further up while you pick off enemies with a sniper rifle may be the way to go

For this playstyle in ME2, I feel like taking cover and sending your squad further up while you pick off enemies with a sniper rifle may be the way to go Do whatever you like, but my suggestion was specifically "no powers" - as in "no using anything on the Power Wheel or letting the AI use it in your stead. Ensure that squadmates don't have any points in the abilities they'll use no matter what." The Power Wheel itself is allowed, because you could use the Weapon Wheel to the same effect, and failing the challenge for mere force of habit is just silly. The grey area would be with First Aid or grenades in ME1, where they're not on the wheel and hardcoded to hotkeys, and no passives means no Charm or Intimidate (or massively reduced Charm and Intimidate in ME2: ME3 is far more forgiving), which is less a challenge run and more a failure train.
And Ashley is God Garrus' Angel of Annihilation. Not only do they both have the same monstrous base damage, but Garrus has Overload while Ashley can throw molotovs. Can anyone spell "triple fire explosions"? Wait, you're doing No Powers? Well in that case, Garrus' armour piercing versus Ashley's disruptor becomes a moot point, and Ashley becomes the obvious replacement to James for Godhood Garrus' partner once you recruit her. Get them both fully optimised and it's as if Shepard recruited two Turian Soldiers with maxed out Hurricanes to be his new wingmen.
