I figured I must just have kept missing it, so I checked three times for an Oblivion thread. It seems weird we have one for 3, 5 and 6 but not 4. Luckily, I do have something worthwhile to ask about the game, but I was originally inspired to post when I downloaded Oblivion, noticed an in-game menu section for DLC, went in to the list of purchasable DLC for Oblivion, and found... Oblivion. I'm honestly not sure if that's a DLC area of Oblivion called "Oblivion" or the actual game, itself, available as DLC that you can buy through the game (that you already bought.) But just in case anyone's around who played all the DLC, is there any I should go out of my way to grab? I vaguely remember the Shivering Isles coming out, but I don't recognize anything else (except "Horse Armour Pack" which, of course, I will be purchasing because no human could live without it.)

Jeremiah12LGeek I highly recommend the Shivering Isles expansion. It is single-handedly in my opinion the best expansion Bethesda has ever made. It takes place in the Oblivion realm the Shivering Isles ruled by the Mad God Sheogorath. You can either complete the Oblivion main quest or start the Shivering Isles right away. Knights of the Nine is another expansion but smaller. I never played it so I can't say much about it. The Vile Lair is a must have if you play as a Dark Brotherhood member (the best faction in the vanilla game).

Oblivion is a fun game, but arguably worse for getting you distracted by side quests and faction stuff than Skyrim. Also the leveling system is a complete mess and I'd go as far as saying just plain broken.
As I remember (correct me if I'm wrong someone), every 5 levels all the enemies in the game jump 5 levels to match you. If this kind of stepped level scaling wasn't bad enough, the system is willfully convoluted, so if you haven't got your head around it it's really easy to level up badly and get comparatively weaker than enemies and NPCs the more you "progress". Leveling up optimally can include such awesome gameplay as jumping constantly instead of ever just walking or running, or repeatedly conjuring enemies just to hit for half an hour.
Skyrim fixed all that crap so you just level fairly naturally by playing the game like a normal person and pick perks that interest you. And importantly when you reach higher levels, you feel like a badass and don't get squished by some random bandit.

Urgh, not only a double post, but replied to wrong thread.
There was probably booze involved.
