This is a fun build if you're looking to try something new and challenging and not necessarily a "best" build.
The idea is centered around a Rogue from Dungeons & Dragons, that relies on stealth to sneak up on targets and eliminate them one by one. This is a close quarter combat playstyle.
Profile: Vanguard
Melee Damage
Melee Force
Biotic Recharge Speed
Power Shield Cost Reduction
Max Shields
SIPHONING STRIKE: Melee attacks restore shields.
Skills:
1) Annihilation: The centerpiece of the build, it will require you close the distance to your target quickly, to lift and prime
- Damage Radius - Enemies affected take 20% additional damage from all sources.
- Biotic Wind - Movement Speed Bonus: 25%
- Vortex - Unarmored, unshielded, normal-sized enemies are lifted into the air for 8 sec
2) Tactical Cloak: Can't be a Rogue if you're not sneaking around in stealth
- Damage bonus - +40% Gun Damage Bonus;+50% Power Damage Bonus; +50% Melee Damage Bonus
- Speed - +20% Movement Speed While Cloaked
- Escape Artist - Melee kills briefly activate Tactical Cloak and the cloak no longer prevents health and shield regeneration
3) A detonator
- I've played with Overload, Lance and Throw. Anything to detonate the biotic priming effect of the Annihilation Vortex will do.
Weapons: Asari Sword
Playstyle
Your Ryder will want to hang back and observe the field before engaging. You're looking for easy targets to pick off. This build is all about stealthily sneaking up to a target to take them out, one by one. Your targets will need to be unshielded as the kill sequence relies on a biotic combo.
Once you've identified your target, you can cloak and begin your attack run, which is why the movement speed bonuses from Biotic wind and Speed are crucial to close the gap.
Once in range of your target, you can fire Annihilation which will do 2 things, remove your cloak (trouble!) and lift and prime your unshielded foe (good!).
Fire your detonator of choice. The explosion will send your target flying away from you, anywhere from 6 to 10 meters.
Track their flight and close the distance (another reason why movement speed is important).
Finish them off with the Asari sword.
The bonus from Escape Artist will re-cloak your Ryder without consuming your Cloak's recharge timer.
Use the cloak to find cover and pick your next victim.
This build will struggle with ranged combat and big armored enemies so equip whatever weapon you prefer for those situations or switch to a different profile in your favorites. The primary weapon of this build are powers and melee combat, which frees up your weapon loadout to whatever you desire. If you're looking for a gun to complement the build, then any shotgun will do. Some of the guns I've experimented with include a full auto hesh; a seeking plasma piranha; and the ushior. But be mindful of the firepower, it's crucial that you don't accidently kill your target with gunfire because you need the melee kill to re-cloak.
I've actually stuck with a seeking plasma ghost with a clip size of 143 as a shield undresser / ranged combat gun.
Is this the most efficient build? No
Is it the most damaging build? No
Would I classify this as a best build recommendation? Probably not
This is for you if you're looking for a spicy challenge and don't mind a little chaos. There's a little bit of "cat and mouse" stalking a target that has no idea you're about to pounce in a blink; and I think that's where the fun is for this build. You move in the shadows, kill quickly and return to the shadows, a true Rogue.
Lastly, this is still very much in progress and am open to suggestions and recommendations. For example, replacing Annihilation with Nova may be an option as well. If you try it, let me know what you think.
