Guys, I need your help. It's half past midnight and I'm fed up, wanted to be asleep by now. I got stuck at the Miner's Diary quest. I'm at the sandcrawler part. I'm pretty sure switching the power on the generator is supposed to call the powerlift down but nothing happened. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Super pissed off I wasted so much time on this damn quest already, if it's bugged and I'm fucked I'll have a fit. Pics for illustration: I only found bug reports related to not being able to get to the sandcrawler. Help! Ugh - sorry, don't know that one personally, but if it helps - I had a bug with a minor quest to get a password for one of the vendors on Toshara. You were supposed to lean on a bar at a cantina and overhear a conversation, only no-one was there. Leaving the planet and coming back fixed it and they were there, had the conversation and I got the password. Which is all a really long-winded way of saying; "have you tried turning Outlaws off and then turning it on again?"

I can see it in your image - the one in front and bit left of Kay.
But as I recall you don't even need the elevator. I found all the diaries before even reaching it. One was hidden at an easily missable side passage right at the start of the journey into the mine. You can also reach the upper elevator area through other paths.

And if you do it differently, then you may end up with that conversation requirement being forever in your quest log since the NPCs will never spawn.

The start of the game is very nice. Looks, sounds and even plays nicely! Nice. Hand holding was done perfectly for me, meaning the tutorial in the beginning opens up while you do things. Music is immediately really SW and I like it. Visually looks very nice on PS5. I also died twice dropping down the mountain - had to be tested, its my job! I crashed to another planet and saved there. Waiting to get back tonight eagerly!

But as I recall you don't even need the elevator. I found all the diaries before even reaching it. One was hidden at an easily missable side passage right at the start of the journey into the mine. You can also reach the upper elevator area through other paths. Yeah that's the switch I pulled and nothing happened. Kay says we need to restore power to the lift. I did just that but nothing. The panel to maybe call the lift down after powering up the generator is dead too. I tried finding a different way up for a long time and couldn't find any. Nor do the guides even mention the lift. They just tell you to parcours. Is the switch so obvious that it's not mentioned or HOW else do I get up there? The guides are very confusing and I wonder if there are several ways to reach the sandcrawler. I think the diary part BEFORE I reach the outside again is the sandcrawler one... So then you'd be right and I'll only be missing one outside the mine. But I want to clear that loot up there, damnit! Guess I'll either check if I have a manual save from before that step or leave and come back and make my way through the mine again. So annoying!

OK, figured out what I was missing: didn't fetch the key card that opens a door where the last diary entry is. So now that quest is finished but I'm still missing the landmark treasure. And still no idea what's up with that lift.

And the elevator worked for me, so its probably not up there, but who knows.
Btw, did you check if the elevator requires several nodes to be hit with Ion? And that there aren't two switches - in which case you'll need to time Kay and Nix to pull them at about the same time. Kay is slow at pulling a switch, so take that into account.

OK so I managed to come out on top of the lift and then it ran down to where I was before. And then I could ride up again. So that mystery is solved. While riding the lift you come by two grapple hook points. I don't think I was supposed to wildly jump at them but I managed awkwardly to sort of glitch swing my way. But this only led me to an area where I was before already. So I'm going round in circles now coming at the same places from different sides. I still have no idea where the landmark loot is. Ugh. The marker seems to be where the powered doors are. But I looted everything in there. Might have to give up...

Cleared it out at last! The other 2 chests were up on the rocks behind the landing pad. Gosh that took forever. I didn't even plan to find all treasures in this game. I'm not usually this OCD. Most of the time it's fun though to navigate the environmental puzzles. This location is very cool but damn frustrating. Is also ran into the bugged out crack in the wall that happens when you find the key card after you've been in there already. Kay will abort the squeezing through animation. Killing yourself fixes it, lol. So that bug is still there.

I've done almost everything there is to do, now I'm about to start the final part of the game I was given a point of no return warning for. I've put over 50h into it. I got all speeder/Trailblazer/blaster upgrades. I got all the faction outfits. Finally did the Jet vaults, probably should have done them much sooner. Nice reward.
I have not completed all specialist abilities. Maybe 80% of them. Took me too long to unlock them all because I've been doing too much exploration on the side. Haven't felt like pissing the empire off to max level again for the death trooper kills. The abilities help of course but on default difficulty it's not like they're vital. Game's pretty easy on default.
I'm still missing some paint options, been trying to track them down. Not sure why I should bother though. I've used only 3 speeder paints. Don't like most of them. And my Trailblazer is still the default colors, but with pink trails.
Missing a ton of collectibles but I won't bother with those. I do like the approach to points of interest and quests though. You don't know what's in the area and which NPC has a quest for you until you're fairly close. So it's easy to miss stuff. Good incentive though to really check out every inch of each map. I wish more games had that approach instead of the usual bazillion question marks on a map. Feels way more organic this way, so that's something Outlaws did really well imo.
I probably missed some minor fetch quests but I think I'll do the final mission chain tonight and then be done with it. It's been great. I hope the ending is good.

Don't want to finish the game yet, so instead of beginning Truth, Kay worked on clearing the air with the Pykes, who've been sending Death Squads after her since some minor misunderstanding with a power converter. Trouble was, no one was giving her jobs for the Pykes, so Reddit came to the rescue. Apparently if you win at Sabbacc at the table in their territory in Mirogana, it gives you a reputation bump. You have to sneak in, but there are only two guards and once you're playing, they leave you alone. Winning was enough to go from Terrible to Bad, so the neutral Fixers were willing to offer Pyke jobs. Still on Bad, but at least Kay is back in the game.

I never had poor reputation again after the first few hours. I finished the game with only half of them on excellent at the same time though. Didn't feel like grinding contracts. And turns out that's fine.

You get a one time Reputation bump when winning at the table of any Faction at any planet. So you can try sneaking to them again at Tatooine, Kijimi and Akiva. Or just do a few contracts to be allowed free entry and waltz to the Sabacc tables.

Me I am still on the first planet, been riding around the scenery, got jumpjet on the speeder. The Imperial space station mission was crazy long for me as I always first struggle with the stealth, then I said F*** It and just ran through the level. It worked fine Had the first space fights, they were quite the run of the mill style, very easy for me (at least this one was). Game is so beautiful, it also reminds me of Andromeda a lot in rendering, but it has worse tonemapping which I've been fighting kinda; for my eyes some places do not have enough contrast and I think its because of all the smoke/dust mostly. I'm juggling gametime between this and FO76 and I think I'm not gonna finish Outlaws before DA:TV

Finished yesterday. Overall; 7/10 for me, which I understand is something of a meme with regards to Ubisoft, but I mean it the sense of a real scoring system, not the gamer scoring which sees anything less than an 8.7/10 as an “unplayable mess”. It was good. I would really like a good deal more polish. It was a heavy beast with respect to visuals versus performance. Didn’t notice too many bugs, but I seldom do. Only one random ctd across my playtime. There was some really weird goings-on with the character models. The NPCs weren’t good enough, at all. But Kay and the rest of the main cast were fine to great, but in certain instances the textures didn’t seem to load properly. This character was mentioned in marketing, so not a spoiler, but when Kay was talking with Lando, they both looked like PS2 characters. Then a couple of cutscenes later, Kay looked fantastic again. The combat and stealth need work (which both are getting with title update 3) but were serviceable. Big, big, big story spoiler for something that wasn’t a problem with the game, as such, but more a problem with recent Star Wars games in general Seriously. Big spoiler. The scene(s) with Vader were very cool. Particularly the one where he smashes the glass holding all the displayed weaponry. The problem wasn’t the scenes, or how they were done. Nor were his scenes in Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor. The problem - I have - is he is becoming a bit of a narrative crutch for SW games set in this era. He is, without doubt, the most recognisable villain in pop culture, so I get the draw to use him, but I wish they wouldn’t. I’d just like to see new characters. There are at least 7 Sisters for the Inquisitorius that we haven’t had the opportunity to kill, after all. The open world was the hero of Outlaws. Beautiful landscapes with stuff to do that didn’t hold your hand in finding it. Loot in general could do with some tweaking, but the game ‘economy’ worked, so that’s fine. The reputation system was interesting, and I will spend more time on that in my second run (which, unfortunately will now have to be post-DAVe addiction). The big title update coming will hopefully address a lot of my issues, because I think there is a really great game here. It just needed a bit more testing and polishing than it got.

I think a 7/10 is fair, especially when somebody is big on combat/gameplay. I rate it a 8/10, with enjoyment being maybe even a 9. I had a blast with the game. But then again I don't really care if the combat is clunky and outdated. The game is 10/10 in atmosphere and art style to me and that is exactly what I expect from a Ubisoft game. They never disappoint in that area. Sure that's superficial. But the story isn't bad or anything. I thought it was a nice SW narrative and I liked the ending too. Most of the side characters were cool. Kay herself as a fish out of water is fun BUT also kind of immersion breaking. Who would take somebody like her seriously? Especially tough as nails cutthroat criminals! It also doesn't make sense given her background imo. She grew up a thief, a street rat. She had it rough. Yet Kay comes across like a naive suburban college kid who's cosplaying an outlaw. It is a bit silly. That being said, I LIKE Kay. She's not annoying like so many modern "strong women". The humor was not over the top and ND-5 is just awesome. Very funny robot. My favorite character, as it should be in a SW game! I believe the game would have received way less hate if the protagonist was male. Han Solo is a grown ass man with a big scary wookie bodyguard while Kay is a petite woman with a little pet and the worst liar in history. It's not surprising some gamer dudes can't take any of that seriously. And the by the numbers combat does not help. Shit, I can't take it seriously but that doesn't keep me from enjoying the game. That's the difference. SW has always been silly. Outlaws is totally on brand. BUT I won't deny that there IS the by now expected focus on female characters and the sidelining and vilification of white dudes. MASSIVE ENDGAME SPOILERS: I believe the game has all but two white guys and they BOTH turn out evil! Not only is the main villain a white man but also your employer who turns out to be his brother. And both brothers are fucking lunatics and want to kill Kay at the end! And the ending kinda made me laugh how Kay as the independent woman flies away with her new best buddy ND-5, a metal man. A girl, her cute pet and her robot bodyguard. She don't need no real man in her life! Any girl's dream, lol! Well, mine anyway. Haha.
Not entirely serious about the ending but when people call Outlaws woke it's both overblown and kind of true. Even her female antagonist turns out to not be so bad and they team up. You can't tell me it's NOT some kind of agenda that the white male characters are always the assholes now. Certain eye rolling narrative decisions aside, I'm looking forward to the two story DLCs. Since I paid no money for this game I'll happily buy the DLC. I think it also helped my enjoyment of the game that it was free. For 70€ the game should have had better gameplay and better performance. But as I said before, no game is worth 70€ to me. I think for like 40€ this game is great. And I'm really kinda sad it doesn't sell. The Ubisoft hate is really annoying and applied to any new release indiscriminately. And that's unfair to the devs who definitely worked hard to make this game feel like SW. So much attention to detail. It was such a joy to explore th different maps, the cities were bustling. And I'm not even that big of a SW fan. I believe the only SW game I ever played was as a kid, I don't even remember what it was called. It was basically a racing game. This game felt like it was made for me. I never much cared for the lightsabers. Blasphemy, I know! Looked cool in the movies but it's not the combat I care for in a game. So Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor didn't interest me much. I saw the Outlaws trailer and I immediately wanted to play it.

I built a new computer mid October and got the game with my graphics card. I was really looking forward to playing but alas, to this day I haven't gotten past the first city. The reason: Because I have a new windows 11 install I am on version 24H2 and on that version, Outlaws chrashes ever 5-20 minutes to desktop. Apparently I am not alone there, this is the number 1 bug on Ubisoft's support page since early october and apparently the same thing happens to a lot of people with the Avatar game from late last year (which is also a Snowdrop engine game). So it's a bug in the engine, which they are trying to fix for almost 2 months now and apparently can't. With 1.4 this week, they also released a temporary hotfix but it seems not to work for everyone. I still have to test it on my system. Keeping my fingers crossed that it works for me or that Ubi can fix this issue for good soon. For now, I am keeping busy with Veilguard anyway but probably will finish it this week and after, I'd really like to get back into Outlaws.
