A.I. is all the hype these days. As someone with a career in marketing, I have a professional interest in how A.I. creates text and images but this was also done to sate my own curiosity. The following content is by no means comprehensive. Just a brief venture around the internetz to see what's what.
Let's start with the pics. These samples are just from free image generators, and by "free" I mean limited samples, tons of adds and frequent requests to "upgrade to a premium version". I suspect a lot of spam on my e-mail acc. after checking these sites so be warned if you take a look yourself. Some of these websites will only let you generate 3 images while others let's you make as many as 100 or have no limit at all.
The results vary from quite impressive to - well, I'll let you be the judge. Aside from the quality, some websites don't "know" about the ME franchise i.e. they may be good at creating general/generic images but can't make anything ME specific.
Canva.com and Deepai.org are cases of the latter. While I couldn't create any ME content, I got some cute space hamsters:
Another one from Canva.com did somewhat resemble Miranda Lawson but I think it was mostly a coincident:
Freepik.com only alowed 3 trial pics. This is how it interpreted the FemShep ME3 cover:
Craiyon.com while being slow and riddled with adds, was actually pretty intelligent: When I wanted to make the Normandy, it would refine the text to "Normandy SR-2". Unfortunately, the results were less than stellar. Here is male Shep, Garrus and Wrex. Garrusmancers brace yourselves:
Finally, the imho best of them all Lexica.art. I got so carried away here trying all sorts of non-ME related things, I only got a few. You get the first 100 images for free, then it's 40 USD/month subscription. This has potential and something I would consider paying for. Clean and no-nonsense website. Every generated image from all users is free to browse. Here's FemShep:
"Yvonne Strahowski as Miranda Lawson in Mass Effect 2". I forgot she's a blonde and had to add "with dark brown hair"
However, the struggle was real in creating male characters and for some reason everyone has earrings as default. A petty attempt at making male Shep before I ran out of free trial images:
Bonus content! A chat about everyone's favourite Turian with DeepAI
This is a transcript of a "conversation" I had with the chatbot on deepai.org. I just made it up as I went along. I ended up being mostly some fact-checking questions with one human-to-"human" remark at the end. Text in italic is the A.I. response.
