When the Creation Kit is released depending on how user friendly it is I am compelled to create a mod. I've been modding Bethesda games since Morrowind for both personal use and to share. I retired from Skyrim modding but I am returning to this game after a long hiatus and already have some ideas for mods. For example inspired by Baldur's Gate 3 I want to create a sort of reactivity like when you become a high ranking citizen of the United Colonies, and when you reach the top of the Vanguard. Like I said the Skyrim Creation Kit was easy to use hopefully so will Starfield's.

Advanced the Vanguard Mission to heading to Londinium. Got the permissions to enter the archives, Starborn and Serpent's Embrace sped things up. Tracked down Orlaise for the man in the fish tank, promised him nothing but got the old research team for Hadrian. Told her about the man in the Fish Tank. Tracked down Kaiser and did a full-frontal assault, no sneaky, sneaky this time around. Into The Vipers Nest Be a good girl Hadrian Thank You Deputy McIntyre He who shall not be named Kaiser, why can't he sub in for Vasco??? One dead Unit 99 Saw this rolling around on my ship, shot it and it exploded but no one seemed to care

One rooms on my ship (which is a f#cking maze) has about 30 flammable containers in it!!!!!! I am tempted to shott them and see what happens, in space of course so no one can hear the screams.

There are numerous things I could suggest, let me know when you are going to create some. Yeah no problem it just depends on how easy the Creation Kit is. I never modded for Fallout 4 for example so I don't know how much the CK had been altered for that game. So yeah once a CK and tutorial is released I will mod away.

So last two days finished the Vanguard stuff and started the Ranger missions. Knocked over all four on the board and got the Tawny Adams one from Diego and as I had been made a Deputy and had Emma Wilcox with me took her along to fight Tawny. Then headed to Montera Luna or whatever it was, met the farmer, killed bugs, killed bad guys and headed back to The Rock. Talked to The Marshal and headed to Hope Tech, helped a fellow Ranger out then chased down some pirates before going to see Ron Hope. Got a lead on the ship jacker and headed to Neon. In the space of 5 minutes picked up around ten missions. Helped Billy out, interrogated Grace Early and picked up Sophia Grace as a crew member. Next off to the Hospital and then The Red Mile. Pic's I just love it when you find the most direct route to your enemy target and then they and their Mooks all funnel into a firing lane. Visited the farm Helped Nia out Met with Ron "not much" Hope Managed to persuade this guy first time for a long while, Hippolyta helps. Recruited this young lady and she's already bringing some sunshine to the ship. Which reminds me I deliberately did not speak to any of the Constellation peep's about the Vanguard Mission, them and all their negativity. I have been lucking out with some of my dialogue choices unfortunately with Andreja. A couple I was able to F9 back and change.

So didn't get much done yesterday, kept getting distracted by RL and mucking around with MODS. Speaking of MODS I installed one that if anyone plays again I highly recommend that fixes a problem you may not even know you had with closing the game. Baka Quit Game Fix www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1662 My game used to hang badly on closing but now it closes straight away. In regards to a Windows 11 setting that my PC kept prompting me about, "Turn on Auto HDR" all the time and which I of course ignored it as I knew I had HDR turned on in settings and in game. Anyway I finally got the memo but could not find where it was, I could find the HDR setting but not this "Auto" version of it, so I googled it. If anyone here knew about this and didn't tell me about it I will be so sad, after turning it on I cannot even quantify the difference it made to my graphics, colour and brightness and even detail were unbelievably better. So my ignorant understanding is turning HDR on "enables it" but Auto HDR turns it on in games that support it. The downside is every time I launch Starfield the PC tells me it has enabled it for Starfield. I do not have a comparison picture sorry but hopefully this shot of the Starborn Venator armour will show the quality of the image. I had to use Photo Mode but the brightness is minimally enhanced due to the location. People that may benefit from this: Kappa Neko saandrig azarhal melbella talyn82 I cannot remember any others that play but will copy this to the other games thread.

So in Starfield yesterday basically completed looking for Andreja's lost friends, then went and confronter her handler and let him live. Returned to The Lodge and committed to each other then headed off to meet with The Emissary and The Hunter. They told me to go to Earth to NASA which I did but didn't start the mission, picked up Sophia as my companion but I am having second thoughts as I doubt she'll have anything useful to say. Andreja doesn't from what I remember so maybe I'll take Barrett or Sam or Sarah. I honestly am sure I have taken them before but cannot remember, so if anyone has any recommendations feel free to make them. Also took a trip to Paradiso to celebrate with Andreja. Pic's Found these people Andreja Committed to Andreja Had a holiday Met with the Gruesome Twosome

Huh. I didn't even know Starfield had HDR and so I didn't turn it on. I'm not using auto HDR because it might look worse than without it in some games. Messes with perfect black levels on my OLED as well usually. So I'm surprised HDR makes Starfield look better. I might have a look out of curiosity, thanks!

Latest Nvidia drivers also have a new feature called RTX HDR.
It might help improve the image as well.

In NVCP - Adjust video image settings > RTX Video Enhancement — then enable HDR Mind you, it could be better or worse with it. Gotta test it game by game.

So finished collecting artifacts, sided with the Emissary (Sarah this time) again in the final battle and after yet another stupendously, humongous and ridiculously hard battle of the duplicates went the persuasion option with the Hunter and was successful. I think either my strategy is wrong (I don't have one) in that battle of the duplicates or I am just right that every time you do that battle in NG+ (so number ten for me this time) it gets harder. The other factor may just be that the enemies by this time are all level 90 to 100 but there are just so many (I think at one time there were upward of 40) and they just were spawning so fast it was ridiculous. Even on Very Easy (I was prepared this time) I had to spam some Med Kits which I otherwise never use. Anyway will today give Andreja time to tell me where she wants to get married but not too long. Will hunt some Terramorphs and maybe do one or two other of the laundry list of missions I have not done but I am definitely done with Starfield. Even when Modders get their tools it may not be enough for me to come back to. Pic's Barrett was quite talkative on the NASA mission He made a funny comment re Vasco but just missed it and cannot remember it Talked the Hunter down but I cannot figure out what the reflection in his helmet visor is?

I try to ignore the duplicates (let companion deal with them) and focus on the Starborn. Same in the area where they are raising dead Ecliptics - ignore them when possible and target the guys doing the raising.

I can never spot the damn Starborn. It was easier in earlier PT's but now they seem to spawn so many duplicates and also behind you so I am forced to take care of them (or get severely damaged) and by then there are even more in front. How do you spot the actual Starborn is there a tell? This PT I saw them at the start but once they started spawning duplicates it was impossible to tell till I killed them.

Just me probably letting myself panic and get overwhelmed with the "rush" of the ending. Will try and remember that if I ever play again, just finished, went through the Unity and didn't get a unique ending so just ended it on the starship. Think I'll try finishing my MEA PT that's stopped on Elaaden, not feeling in the mood for HZD, plus have to decide if I'll start a new NG+ or just pick up where I left off with the last one if the save still works.

So played my last Starfield at least for a long while, definitely had gotten stale. Andreja took to long to organise the wedding but she was represented in the Unity anyway. Went through the Unity for the 11th time and had there been a unique start to the game I would have at least proceeded to The Lodge but alas the words MAST District appeared. So stopped in the Starborn ship ready for another PT should I ever feel inclined. Cannot say I didn't have some fun but there is a lot that could be improved and jumping back into Mass Effect Andromeda highlighted a lot of what was wrong with Starfield. For a start I was almost blinded by colour even on a desert world, PB and Drack's banter in the Nomad, yes a planetary vehicle who could imagine such a thing. I could go on but. Parting screenshots And so the sunsets on possibly my last Starfield PT Thank You Andreja - you are not so bad yourself. Into The Unity A New Beginning

FWIW, I fired up ME:A and my phone's stopwatch, and it looks like travel times to the next POI are about the same in both games, although the data is really noisy. You move faster in ME:A, but everything is further apart, so it seems to be a wash. The really big difference is that ME:A uses the travel time for party banter, so the time isn't wasted. Actually, during testing I got a few Jaal-Drack conversations which I am absolutely certain that I've never heard before, even after all these years. Bio seems to be a hell of a lot more efficient with their wordcount than Bethesda.

Haven't dropped by here to do an update in a while. Still playing, although I can feel the end approaching. But after this many months, it should be. I've put my nefarious plan into action. Liana has now joined Constellation. My metagaming goal here is to run up her approval with Sam and someone else -- Sarah, just because I got points with her early. Get the relationship, then the Hunter shows up, rescue the wrong person, and NG+, here we come. I've got through All That Money Can Buy, so there's going to be a little marking time here to get approvals where I want them. Annoying that I cant take Marika or Simeon out on missions, but I really need the time ticks to go where they count. Still have stuff to do which I haven't done before. Ran into a Storage Yard POI which I've never seen before. Not much to it , just a small hab with a crane and some junk outside. First time it was inhabited by those robots who think humans will crash their productivity metrics. I had to reload that save, and the second time around I got the Hunted Homesteaders side mission, which I've never seen before. It's a pretty basic mission, I think. Defend the colonists from the local alpha predator, yada yada yada. But the thing glitched out on me before I knew what was happening. Either one of the colonists killed the boss, or I already had. The upshot was that I ended up with a key and a slate in my inventory, which didn't seem to relate to anything. The key doesn't unlock anything at the Storage Yard, so I have no idea what it's for. Googling around turned this up: Hunted HomesteadersI like that a random minor mission has a bunch of alternative outcomes, but I'm not sure this is where the dev time needed to go.

Couple other things.
After all this time I'm still finding new-to-me POIs. The latest was an Abandoned Farm. Thought it was a cannabis operation, but the game says the crop is "metamaize," which yields Nutrient. Bit disappointing, that.
Also, my upgraded Razorleaf crushed the first Starborn ship, as expected. (Their superiority is an Informed Ability, at least until you're way into NG+.) What I didn't expect is that I now have enough firepower to blow up the Extended Warranty guys before they jump out. Turns out everyone in the Settled Systems hated them. No bounty, and even Sarah didn't object.

After a break I picked up Starfield again. My second character is on very hard, with the wanted trait. This is a ridiculous combination as you get routinely ambused by hard as nails Ecliptic bounty hunters who only get stronger as the game progresses. Regular combat is fine on very hard, but these ship fights in particular are really tough. So my skills are very heavily weighted towards ships (there's actually a bounty hunter on Mars who can remove the trait, but it seemed insultingly cheap at 3000 cr, so I never did). I also avoided Constellation for a long time, not even use the Frontier (I jumped the wall at New Atlantis and fortunately found a spacer ship to steal very quickly). Eventually caved and joined Constellation though.
As before, it all became largely about the ship building for me. Learned a couple of new things, like you can buy ships with far better reactors than you have access to in the ship builder much earlier. It just takes a lot of credits. Also didn't quite realise before how insanely good the engines are that become available after doing Walter's quest for the artifact (I assume that doesn't carry over to the next loop). Achieved what I didn't manage in my earlier game, which is to to make ships I don't hate using lots of Taiyo and Hopetech parts (although both are a complete mix of parts really).
So I made this, which started out as a Taiyo Narwhal: And finally this one, which kept virtually nothing from whatever scrub spacer ship I used:
And now I'm not sure if I can be bothered to keep going? I found a few new points of interest, including a Botanics lab, which was quite cool. Killed a huge legendary Spacer ship, which was not nearly as hard as it looked. And finally did Sarah's personal quest (and then let her die, which felt a bit more meaningful than with Barret).
Think the only major thing I haven't seen now is any of the weirder NG+s. Anyone know if they just appear randomly, or do you have to have a few goes round? Wondering if I can just save scum it? Otherwise, I'm not sure it's worth the effort?

The key is when you do an NG+ when you land in New Atlantis it's when you first get your new ship and the quest pops up with the first quest and says: 1) Go to The Lodge in The MAST District or 2) Go to The Lodge Option 2) means you are going to get a unique start to the game, so if you don't get that go through the Unity again, it took me four times a couple of times. saandrig pointed this out so credit to him.
