If you go in with no expectations, it's a lot easier to handle nothing being shown and if something is shown it's a happy occasion

Could easily be better.

That said, I still saw a few titles I'd like to play shown there, so it's not all bad.

I was stream jumping a bit before the show started and the OutsideOxbox peeps said that, allegedly, Keighley was charging something like 250k dollars for 3 minutes of screen time. Just going by that it would make sense to not show something more than once.

This is a bit of a strange one. Since DA:V is on Frostbite and the next ME is (very likely) on Unreal, I'm not sure how that would streamline the work.

Making them functionally the same for some baseline consistency between franchises? I'm guessing that's the reasoning behind it...

I really don't think the companions are a result of trying to make DA more ME like or vice versa nor has it anything to do with the engine...per se.

IMO just has to do with complexity. Making squads based on two companions just means there is less variables for them to have to keep track of. I think the main benefit of this will be banter, banter in MEA fired a lot more regularly then it did for Inquisition. But also in terms of the tactics companion AI is probably going to be very important this time out since its not exactly likely we're going to have a programmable tactics screen this time out so either A. the companion AI will have to be able to take care of itself or B. react to whatever moment to moment orders we can give them at any time in an accurate way. Something else Andromeda was also quite good at. But three companions just increases the complexity. All the companion bugs that Inquisition suffered from, irregular banter, and then poor utilization of nonsensical tactics were all issues in Inquisition and past games.
