Do you think Antivan Crows will get more content from romancing Lucanis? Then again that question could apply to all the companions and their respective factions.

Do you think Antivan Crows will get more content from romancing Lucanis? Then again that question could apply to all the companions and their respective factions. From what I understand of the romance/friendship system, every Rook will have the option of improving their relationship with their companions by dialogue options and presumably how they resolve their personal quests but the latter are going to be interwoven into the main narrative so possibly you can't avoid them, it is just how you resolve them that makes the difference. It was also suggested that your response to certain situations in your dialogue choice (direct, jokey, nervous, etc) will influence how the companion perceives you. So, to answer your question, no, I don't think choosing to be a Crow and then romancing Lucanis will necessarily gain you more content that you wouldn't get anyway from developing your relationship with him (either romantically or platonic) but equally there may be content you will get as a Crow that you won't get as one of the other factions that is not dependent on developing a relationship with him.

I randomly hope that Rahul Kohli voices one of our companions. Dunno if he can do an Italian accent, he’s English, but I like that dude and he’s super, super talented. He can do anything. Certainly can pull off “muppet”-“dumpster fire”! lol A couple/few years ago I saw that Rahul followed BioWare or Gamble or they followed each other (can’t remember), so I was like “Huh… interesting. Wonder is he’s involved in the next Mass Effect or Dragon Age…”. Now he’s not even on TT/X anymore, if I’m not mistaken. So, yeah. It’s kinda random but I think he’d make a great Lucanis! ^^ Huh. I saw this guy on Midnight Mass recently. Never heard of him before. My immediate reaction was "Oh, hello". *g* He's never done any voice work for videogame according to Wiki so that's an interesting idea. I have to look up a clip because I don't remember his voice right now.

Interestingly enough, Midnight Mass is also where I saw him first, and he plays certain type of character there, as the sheriff. And then in House of Usher, do the complete opposite with a thrust fund unhinged (and funny) "dumpster fire" of a human. Kills it every time. Interesting voice (and accent!), too.

I'd welcome him in dragon age, he was good in iZombie and The Haunting of Bly Manor too.

I saw a snippet on Tumblr that apparently Lucanis sounds more Spanish than Italian. I don't know how to link it on here, but it was on the wonderful collection of info Felassan has compiled.
Edit. After I read that, I now imagine him sounding like El Estepario Siberiano.

kaitlyn 🦇 @grapebatslucanis short king…… elle tchi @elenatchiinot only is he a short king, i made him a short king on purpose I don't think he is that short. I mean all the weird stuff he pulled off in the Wigmaker Job, you need some height for that, it wouldn't be possible be with tiny legs. Maybe he is only short compared to a Qunari and Emmrich.

Maybe he is only short compared to a Qunari and Emmrich. I've already mentioned that I think Emmrich is the one who is abnormally tall for a human or the qunari Rook is short for their race. In that shot Lucanis is the height you would expect him to be in comparison. I mean all the weird stuff he pulled off in the Wigmaker Job, you need some height for that, it wouldn't be possible be with tiny legs. Not necessarily, so long as you are in proportion. He certainly doesn't appear to have tiny legs, may be not as lanky as Emmrich but in keeping with his general body size. Strength and agility rather than height would be what was important to the feats he demonstrated in Wigmaker Job, plus extensive training to hone his skills, which he has had. Besides size isn't everything, it's what you do with it.

So we should learn who his voice actor is on the 25th/26th. Exciting! Hopefully he's done other stuff we can listen to so we can get a feel for the voice, but it would be neat if they released some audio of the companions that we haven't heard from yet, like they did with Davrin and Bellara.

Other than that, I do not know. lol sorry, and I don’t either, nobody does (yet!) but the Devs. I mean he has a certain quality, rizz, a je ne sais quois… but whether he’s packing a switchblade or a two-handed greatsword? Unclear. Smooth segue: yesterday I realized who Lucanis reminds me of, lil bit… Duncan! You guys think so, too? (PS: Now that I think about it, a two-handed greatsword sounds excessive. I don’t… I mean, who needs that aggravation. Nope!)

Smooth segue: yesterday I realized who Lucanis reminds me of, lil bit… Duncan! You guys think so, too? Duncan was probably a little older but I see where you are coming from. Also, Duncan had a rather dark past before he became a Warden, although nothing as illustrious as Lucanis. Duncan was an orphan and homeless street urchin by the age of 12 in Val Royeaux, surviving by stealing and then dodging the law. Presumably the Red Jennies weren't a thing back then or you would think he would have become one of them. Finally, he killed the lover of a senior Grey Warden whilst trying to steal the engagement ring he was going to give to her but at his execution for the crime the Grey Warden intervened, envoking the Rite of Conscription. Even though he was a reluctant recruit, he eventually became a dedicated Warden. So, who knows what the future might hold for Lucanis. I liked Duncan's voice, so I wouldn't mind something along similar lines with a different accent.

I should have said something earlier I looked up the meaning of BDE, read like the first three words, got embarrassed and wrote my comment, then went back and read more. Now I get it, it's about the attitude so to speak, not actual weaponry.

Bouncing off a different discussion in another thread, do you guys like/prefer when companions are very special snowflakes - one finds out they descend directly from Andraste, the other is a King's bastard, or an elder god... or when they're just ordinary people, doing extraordinary things together? I'm kinda leaning towards the latter, especially for Veilguard. Some of my favorite companions have been "normies", relatively speaking... and even Alistair in DAO, who was like the best with or without royal blood, don't care, 10/10 my Warden would bone regardless.
Which brings us to: Lucanis. Nepo baby or no? DISCUSS! 😈

Lucanis. Nepo baby or no? Well obviously he was/is a Nepo baby because of who his grandmother is. He seems to acknowledge in Tevinter Nights that whilst he hated her for her treatment of him as a child, he had to acknowledge she was wanting to ensure he survived in her chosen profession for him. However, it did mean he was being trained for a specific role in life that he may not have chosen for himself and ultimately didn't want, First Talon. That's the thing really. Whilst being a Nepo baby can have its advantages, it has its drawbacks as well. So far as Lucanis is concerned I want to support him in freeing himself entirely from the burden of his birth (assuming of course he is actually a blood relative of Caterina). I'm more interested, though in delving into why he thinks "Death is my calling." Alistair is another person where being a Nepo baby wasn't really a blessing. He never knew his father or his mother, was told a lie about the latter, farmed out to a noble to raise and then shoved into the Templars when he was considered a liability. Then when it became politically convenient suddenly one faction decides they now want to acknowledge his parentage. He didn't want to be a King, had not been trained for it and really didn't seem suitable for the cut and thrust of Court life even in Ferelden (he'd have been eaten alive in Orlais). I think he was a lot happier if left in the Wardens. From his comments in DA2, if the Warden married him she did seem to dominate him but then that was probably true of his other advisers, or Anora if you married him to her. To be honest, being a Nepo baby in Thedas really sucks. Seamus Dumar resented his life, rebelled against it and died as a result. Dorian hated his life, rebelled against it and nearly had blood magic used on him by his father to force his compliance. Celene was trained to excel at the Game but never knew real peace and contentment as a result. Of course, being a regular person isn't much better in some nations. In Orlais the Chevaliers think that give them licence to treat you as they think fit. In Antiva the Crows prey on you, blackmailing or paying off your family or just scooping you off the streets to use you as basic cannon fodder in their lower ranks. Occasionally it may be possible to rise through the ranks by sheer guile and ruthless determination but given nepotism does exist in their rulers, that is the exception rather than the rule. So, I suppose it is really down to whether you tell your companions to suck it up and accept their destiny (as you effectively do when making Alistair King) or help them break free of it. Certainly, being the heir to House Dellamorte is not what attracts me to Lucanis, rather the opposite. What I find attractive is that he had the courage to break free (even if he did fake his death rather than stand up to his grandmother face to face).

I lean more towards something a little in-between. I don't need a team of snowflakes, but I do want the Veilguard to be specialists in their field with unique skillsets.
I don't want Lucanis to be a run-of-the-mill hitman; I want him to be one of the most skilled assassins in his organization. We are taking on gods, after all. I want an A-Team that can handle this mission. A bunch of noobs isn't going to cut it.

I don't need a team of snowflakes, but I do want the Veilguard to be specialists in their field with unique skillsets. I assume that is what we are getting. As far as we know, Lucanis is the only one born into his role in life. It may be that Emmrich is from Nevarran aristocracy or Neve's family are leading Laetans but there is no real hint of it yet. Harding acquired her skills from her time with the Inquisition. As for the others they appear to be just specialists in their field but perhaps it will turn out that one or more of them had an advantage in life because of their birth.

I love that. Yeah, seems like our companions are highly capable specialists in their field, especially judging by the trailer where Varric and Harding talk about the kind of people they need.

elle tchi @elenatchiishort king lucanis is so real that a poor QV person asked if it was on purpose that he was short 😂 Carly 🌺 @carlyqueueEveryone else just tall af it’s rude elle tchi @elenatchiiReposting my slack joke here for posterity: Dragon Age The Tallguard. Is this anything Domini|Sleepy @sleepydoesgamesHe's tall compared to Harding at least... elle tchi @elenatchiiHe's 20-ish cm taller according to my chart Hrungr @hrungryI'm getting some (comic book) Wolverine vibes here. elle tchi @elenatchiiHe's a bit leaner than Wolverine since I set up his body type to be very gymnast/dancer like😁 If Lucanis is 20cm+ taller than a dwarf, I reckon he's around the 5'7" mark. So he's very average for a Finnish guy, I'd say 😁 not sure if he's short in Antivan terms
