Been pondering on mine (eventually will ... Rook one and probably my canon rook is decided!
Corvus currently his name I'm thinkjng (Rooks are Corvids/Corvidae, geddit?) Male Elven Spellblade Mage, Shadow Dragons (hell yeah slave liberators and corruption exposure!) - Alex Jordan voice.
Other rooks:
Dwarven female (or NB in honour of the actor!) Dwarven Rogue Lord of Fortune, Erika Ishii voice
Qunari Female Mournwatch Warrior (Bryony Corrigan voice)
Dunno what I'll do for my character that'll be voiced by Jeff Berg. Human since the other Rooks I've thought of are the other 3 races. Eventually I'll decide on his faction! They all have great aspects to them!

Seeing what everyone wants to do here makes me wonder if BioWare could benefit from adopting Team Ninjas Character Appearance save system. Their most recent game, Rise of the Ronin, let's you save up to 20 character appearances. You could then either load them up if you decided you wanted to work off of its model or share them with others.
BioWare might have done this, but without having seen the character creator, it's hard to say.

BioWare might have done this, but without having seen the character creator, it's hard to say. Maybe, I hope so! Several different developers/companies have done that with their games now. As you said, there's Rise of the Ronin, also Elden Ring (I think other FromSoft games may have had it?) and the most recent Saints Row too. Might be a question for the Discord!

With two Dalish Elves as Veilguard companions (one of each gender already), I decided not to make another elf (though I will run one for my alternate). Rook will be adventuring in a world state that includes: -(archer warrior-Berserker/Champion) diplomatic and kind Aeducan princess Warden who romanced Leliana and lived -(dagger & bow rogue-Shadow/Assassin) aggressive and direct male Champion who had an imploded romance with Fenris before committing to Merrill, and sided with his sister, lover, and Grand Enchanter against the Templars -(Blade of Tidarion mage-Necromancer) diplomatic and faithful female Adaar Inquisitor who broke up with Blackwall to ride (or die) The Iron Bull, drank from the Well of Sorrows, and disbanded the Inquisition I stewed for a a little longer, and with a sprinkle of pessimism (what would I do if Veilguard was the last playable chapter of Thedas?), I decided to make an elf after all. My Rook will be charming and flippant, as a female City Elf warrior from the Mourn Watch, learning the ways of the Slayer. She will start with a fling with either Davrin or Emmrich, then live (happily?) ever after with Harding. Despite choosing the two-handed weapon style, she will fill in nodes in two different directions by achieving Slayer via either Weapons or Abilities (possibly ignore Weapons since the specialization may provide a comparable boost), and completely filling in the Survival section. Despite locking in my canon, I will still sample the game and construct my stories by using my alternate world state. This will see an aggressive, male Dwarf rogue from the Shadow Dragons, specializing as a ranged Saboteur. I suspect he may get along well with Taash, but he may end up in a relationship with Bellara instead. I will find out what happens organically. Likely his build will maximize Control, with a generous helping of Sustain. All that's left now is character creation. I eagerly anticipate continuing my adventures in Thedas.

This has been tricky for me because of the Rook-Solas-Lavellan relationship dynamic. Usually my PCs are a hyper-idealised fantasy self-insert, but obviously that won't work too well here with Lavellan still around.
So I've decided to go with a more candid warts-and-all one. She's older (romance Emmrich?), has some regrets (like Solas perhaps), cynical even (like Neve?), but still has some ideals (Shadow Dragons, unless Veil Jumpers look more fun).
Either human or elf, depending on what strikes me on the day. Mage.

Like given how I do things Oliver will be at least somewhat based on Arrows Oliver Queen. But the twist for me was an Oliver who failed his crusade. Now given that they have Shadow Dragon Rook is from Minrathous can't RP the entire city getting sacked...but other then that: he finds out his family has fallen in with the Venatori, gets betrayed by a teamate, has his entire team killed, is unable to stop the Venatori from summoning a demon which proceeds to wipe out a district...and he is presumed dead in the bargain. So he starts off Veilguard being very cynical and regretful. Not really sure he wants to be there. But as Varric said in the trailer and was even thinking about doing something similar, Rook doesen't know when to quit.

But since you seem to know Arrow at least a bit you also have to know that Oliver tends to take on guilt/ personal responsibility/ regret whether he is responsible or not and is one of the things that drives him. It's also going to make these character interactions very interesting to. Since Neve has been described as a cynic with a heart of gold, kind of a good description for Oliver's mind set as well. So will he fall for someone complimentary or will opposites attract?then him, Neve, and Lucanis form a broody 'I hate the Venatori' fan club?

I stewed for a a little longer, and with a sprinkle of pessimism (what would I do if Veilguard was the last playable chapter of Thedas?), I decided to make an elf after all. My Rook will be charming and flippant, as a female City Elf warrior from the Mourn Watch, learning the ways of the Slayer. She will start with a fling with either Davrin or Emmrich, then live (happily?) ever after with Harding. If I am going to commit to warrior, I think I would prefer to have my lady be straight, and tanking for her man (or back-to-back taking blows). Minor detail aside, I'm quite certain of personality and background. I am somewhat tempted to swap my alt and canon classes based on a vision. I am only half-kidding, but Veilguard has been on the mind, and I had a dream that I was playing Saboteur Rook. Dreams being what they are, Rook actually had a small team of drones as if she were an Engineer from Mass Effect. If I do, it would simply be a class change with melee female, but potentially a ranged male.

From the Q&A it sounds like elven Veil Jumpers will be heavily Dalish-coded, which I'm not really interested in, so now I'm taking another look at the Shadow Dragons.

Inquisitor: Human Male Warrior. Rook: Human Male Warrior/Slayer. (Shadow Dragons or Grey Wardens)
Hopefully they meet and bond over having so much in common.

As long as we don't know more about the origins/factions I won't be able to define exactly who he is. But so far I'm guessing a male barbarian human lord of fortune, named Davreïn from Rivain. Warrior reaper probably. I want Rook to look like a barbarian or a pirate, so I hope there will be spartan armors, showing skins in the game ! Otherwise light armors will be enough ! He'll probably romance Neve. I'll try to recreate exactly in the CC this character I made from scratch in Dragon's Dogma 2. The second character will be a female elven grey warden, named Indira, a mage death caller. She'll romance Davrin, who is in the same order. An interesting dynamic to follow. I hope this time there will be long hair for black women... It's been three game, and still not a single one so far, only buzz cuts at best. I'm hoping to create an elf that looks close to like this ethiopan woman : As for the Inquisitor, human Trevelyan, I'll try to recreate exactly the same as I did in Inquisition, (of course it's been 8 years so there will be a few tweaks) I just need to know which one XD .

I am somewhat tempted to swap my alt and canon classes...playing Saboteur Rook. I decided to confirm this choice. While I still plan for my Rook to be charming and flippant (though potentially diplomatic and kind...we'll see), she is now a sword-wielding Dalish Elf rogue, hailing from the Veil Jumpers, who will learn the techniques of Saboteurs. I currently feel that she may exist in a morally grey area, probably with a more neutral perspective.

I've been planning a Grey Warden Spellblade Rook, but after the gameplay today I wasn't "feeling it". The faction is set in stone, but I'll probably try a Sword and Shield Reaper.

Male Dwarf Warrior, Mourn Watch or Grey Warden with a Harding romance.
Hopefully I'll be able to make him similar to Korgan personality wise, but I highly doubt that.

After the small snippets of the Grand Necropolis in today progression video, I'm 100% rolling Mourn Watcher. Now class is harder. I can't choose!!!!
If I'm going Dwarf, that kinda makes it slighty easier since it's just two classes. Maybe I'll just flip a coin.
My Rook is going to be deadpan.

After watching the mage gameplay I think I'm pivoting away from mage and back to either an archer/two handed rogue or a sword and shield warrior. Issue for me, the warrior specializations really aren't tickling me at all, but I was an archer in DAI and would have liked to play something different this time...
If mage is off the table it means dwarf is back on the table, which is worthy of considering... although playing this game and not being an elf really feels like heresy...

I already have a lot of ideas for my Rook and World State! One Rook / Companion ! I love this period before launch where I can let my imagination run wild and start creating my characters. After that I don't plan on playing them all now and there will probably be some changes, especially once I finish the game for the first time.
I am French and I hope my English is correct. Don't kill me for a strange choice of vocabulary or grammar that takes liberties .
1) Valerian, city elfe, mage (evoker), Veil Jumper, romance Lucanis, 28 - 30 ans.
I had the idea for this character for a while before I even met Bellara. I think they'll get along well. Born into slavery, Valerian freed himself through his magic and his hard work. His magister's family, where he grew up and worked for a while, was okay. He's heard some really scary stories about other families and other masters. So it was okay.
His former master was above all a pragmatic man who valued hard work, skills and determination, even in his pointy- eared things. And, as a reward for his work, his former master gave him a recommendation for a position as a teacher / researcher in a Circle.
Despite his good position, he was frustrated that he couldn't explore more of his people's history and traditions, especially with Solas' stuff. So when he heard about the Veil Jumper, he jumped at the chance and took a sabbatical leave.
Valerian loves learning new things, solving puzzles and teaching and sharing his knowledge. He prefers history, lore, and folklore over magic, though he is always enthusiastic to learn more about it. Especially elven magic.
His search for knowledge is not only about him and writing a book or two but also for his people. He wants to help them remember and find a common past that would bring them together. The world state is about passions and ambitions with a little bit of “f*** the Chantry” thrown in. Previous protag : Elinor Cousland & Alistair, Gareth Hawke (purple) & Anders (friendromance), Faolan Lavellan & Iron Bull.
2) Sunniva (Ingellvar ?), surface dwarf, rogue (duelist), Lords of Fortune, romance Neve, 26 - 27 ans.
Sunniva was born into a very ordinary family of farmers in Free Marches. Her best childhood memories come from the days when they all went to the market together to sell fruits, vegetables and eggs.
There was always this traveling puppeteer who told stories about dragons, Grey Wardens and other tales. And on special days there might be tournaments where bards sang stories about epic heroes of the past and swaggering warriors fought duels, recounting their exploits over ale.
At night, in her bed, wedged between her brother and sister, she dreamed of traveling the world, hunting monsters and impressing young ladies and gentlemen with her adventures.
As soon as she could get her hands on a sword, she trained, alone or with anyone willing to help her. Unfortunately, she had no adventures, only the ordinary work of city guard and sometimes she worked as a bodyguard for the traveling merchants of the region.
But one day, a dashing and charming man, with colorful clothes, passing through the region recruited one or two people for a treasure quest. And that was the beginning of a new life. As soon as the treasure was found, she took the first ship to Rivain, becoming a new member of the Lords of Fortune.
Sunniva is bold, carefree, dreamy but she can be counted on to get the job done and done well. She likes to enjoy the present moment and simple pleasures like a good stew, a good beer and a comfortable armchair by the fire. The world state is about women with a little bit of “tragedy” thrown in. Previous protag : Skadi Brosca & Leliana, Gwyneth Hawke (blue) & Isabella (rivalromance), Saoirse Lavellan & Solas.
3) Artemio, city elfe, mage (spellblade), Antivan Crows, romance Emmerich, 35 - 36 ans. Artemio is probably one of the few people who volunteered to sign up to join the Crows, giving up his freedom.
At the age of 12, he denounced himself to a templar as a mage. A client of the brothel where his mother worked, said that a mage was treating prostitutes and shout apostasy to anyone who would listen.
The apostate in question had fled Orlais a very long time ago and had created a new life in Antiva, in this brothel as a healer. She had taught him to tame his powers, the use of plants and she was expecting her second child.
So he asked his mother to contact one of her Crow clients while he went to the templar. Between the circle and the Crows, the choice was quickly made.
He survived the cruel and deadly training inflicted on new recruits, worked hard to make a place for himself in the organization and make some good money - magical assassin remember.
And finally, he was able to get his mother out of the brothel and settle her in a coastal village where she met her husband, a fisherman, and had two daughters. He rented a small house with a tiny garden but enough for two chickens, a small vegetable garden and a little room for his sisters.
Sometimes he wonders if it wasn't all so perfectly organized: the drunk customer, the templar and his debts, ... but in the end it doesn't matter. His mother has a good life. Her stepfather makes her happy. He is a honorable man with terrible sense of humor and his two sisters are adorable. He loves his familly even if they don't know him.
Because he's an assassin and he's not very talkative at first, everyone thinks he's a classic broody guy. He just wants to know what you want from him and the danger you represent for his family. Once he's sure that you're safe for his entourage, he turns out to be a warm and kind person who likes small talk and have a strange passion for plants and flowers. The world state is about mages wich are linked (unplanned at first). Previous protagonists are : Bran Amell & Zevran, Aislinn Hawke (purple) & Fenris (rivalromance), Sveda Adaar & Joséphine.
4) The other rooks, there is still work to be done :
- Franziska Thorne & Lace Harding (warrior champion, human (anders), Grey Warden, 28 ans), andrastian world state, she is a classic anders, a pious woman who not had an easy life and for whom the fight against the darkspawn is a duty. - Ceridwen & Bellara (warrior reaper, elf dalish, Mourn Watch, 33 ans), elven world state, she joined the Mourn Watch when there was a problem with the undead in her clan, they were interested in her skills and she was relieved to leave a place that looked at her askance for her same skills.
- Gulsen & Taash (mage necromancer, qunari vashoth, Shadow Dragon, 21 - 23 ans), world state idealist with flower name, she is young and she dreams of a better world.
- ? & Davrin (archer veil ranger, human, 37 - 39 ans), world state gentleman's club, and the balance leans towards the Templars.

I try not to make too many decisions until I get my hands on the game. So for now: Ashanea (Maybe, depending on the last name. It has to flow, you know) Dalish Spellblade Veil Jumper I may play her as someone who greatly admires my Inquisitor (who is also a Dalish mage), and is maybe a little obsessed with impressing her. We'll see. I've decided I may try to play Rook as the polar opposite of my inquisitor. I see her being reckless, a lose cannon. Doesn't really think before acting. Really the worst kind of person you want saving the world. If Thedas survives, it will be in spite of her rather than because of her. I don't often play these types of characters, so we'll see how it goes. Or if it's even possible.

I now have consept of 9 Rooks ready. Now I start to think witch Inquisitor to bring for each Rooks world 😂
First will be Grey Warden elf mage (evoker). I originally wanted to go with Veil Jumper first and dwarf Grey Warden second, but my husband really wanted to be Veil Jumper, so I changed my mind 😁
