There was some awkwardness in the jogging and sprinting animations, but all in all, I think it looks really good. I especially enjoy the environments. Has it been confirmed to have a photo mode at launch? If so, my PT time is going to be doubled! I think people attribute some of the awkwardness to those long cloth strips that billow behind the Qunari mage xD

The side quests still look like fetch quests. I hope there would be more in it.

Haven't read anyone's posts but can anyone comment on how spoilery it is? And what parts of the game are shown off? Thanks! Depends what you consider spoiler. Seeing part of a new zone and some side quest/companion quest early dialogues you can't avoid while watching. You can turn the sound off to not hear the devs spoiling some stuff thought.

Points of conflict: - Considering how much the Darkspawn encroached upon the player, I'm starting to think Mage players will definitely have to get used to constantly being on the move. Some may like this, others may not. - I'm still not sure about the AI and their ability to dish out damage. It's hard to make an assessment. Yeah, I feel similar. It's hard to make an assessment because their party composition essentially forces Rook to play melee.

Some may like this, others may not. Staff heavy charge attack is a big cone aoe knockback that deals lots of damage. It was used like once. Mage have the tools to keep things away from them beside fade step, they just were not used here to show other part of their arsenals.

I'm neutral on side quests right now. Just don't have enough information to go on. I did enjoy the conversation Neve and Rook had after they talked to the physician, was a nice moment to layer the quest giver a little more.

Yes, I also don't think they'd simply be fetch quests. I'd have just phrased the part they talking about differently, as it seemed like they did show something narratively deep, although I could've misunderstood what Corrine and John were saying.

I hope we'll get lots of banter like that in the various areas. The spellblade/orb-dagger combo, and overall the mage's elemental basic damage going to be different depending on the element of the weapon is a really nice touch.

That amount of banter in the showcase is probably equivalent to running around the Hinterlands in Inquisition for six hours LOL.
But yes, agreed.

Banter that works would be phenomenal. I really enjoyed how the devs for Guardians of the Galaxy implemented banter in their missions. They would even remark on going off the path and talk crap about me behind my back. It was great!

My first impressions: - The areas are beautifully designed
- Loved that some companions prefer "Aggressive" dialogue options, must would disapprove of them in the previous games.
- Facial animations, on random NPCs at least, looked stiff.
Some of the body movements seemed stiff as well.
Indeed, considering that fact that game is releasing next month, the animations won't be improved much on release date.

I went back and watched again to focus on the faces during conversations, and I gotta say, I don't see what people are talking about with the stiffness. Everything looks really smooth to me.

Indeed, considering that fact that game is releasing next month, the animations won't be improved much on release date. Yeah, it could be better. Copium take is that they're still using an older build and these animations have been refined, but that's probably unlikely. BioWare has always been a little janky with their animations, so it's not new and I'll get over it. Just give me that leaning against a pillar animation they've been using since like Origins and I'll be happy as a clam, lol.

It's the lack of emotions on the faces. The voice acting is decent for minor NPCs but the facial animation was lacking. It's basically 'my face is tired' thing again.

Liking everything except the face looked strange. Almost felt like it was pasted on but maybe it’s the complexion setting?
It really looks like a just better version of inquisition. The character movements while jogging etc. not loving that your companions can be heard and not seen in combat until certain timing?
Glad they explained the dark spawn

Virtually no game is using custom animations and mocap for side characters, unless they're a part of a bigger quest or story moment, let's be real. "My face is tired" got so notorious because animations were janky during one of those more important story moments while centering camera squarely and closely on the character's face - not when we engaged with regular NPCs.

Yeah, even games like the Witcher 3 have less than stellar facial animations on non important NPCs. Not all games can be RDR2 level of facial animations. (Unless you want to overwork employees to the bone.)
