Beyond just fixing bugs and stuff; essentially expansions/dlc whatever you want to call it. If there is no expansions will it reduce your number of playthroughs(assuming the game is good)? They haven't offically said no, but they're working on making it as polished as it can be right now from the Q/A. I think the audio drama is a good sign for expansions to come later. Though the whole voice acting strike could put an issue on expansions. Also, bit of a side note question: have they said if this is supposed to be a conclusion of the saga or anything like that? Like the end of Solas's story or whatever?

Typically, BioWare has released DLC for Dragon Age after launch. How soon we'll see it, for how many years, I'm not sure. We have to remember that they're a smaller studio now (relative to their hay-days), so there's some possibility we may only get one large DLC before they move over to working on Mass Effect.

I'm expecting 2-3 expansions for Veilguard. Traditionally Dragon Age have at least 2 expansions post launch. Veilguard won't be any different.

I feel like Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor are our best current models of what a single-player, story-based game from EA looks like these days, and neither of those got any DLC despite being sucessful. I'm not expecting any post-release story content for Veilguard.
As long as they patch the bugs and maybe make some quality of life improvements if any are needed (armor dying? photo mode if it's not in already?) I'll be happy.

Major. I loved that all Dragon Age games had expansions. Despite varying quality among all of these DLCs, Inquisition hit the high marks and I liked DA2's as well. I'd be really sad if Veilguard doesn't have post-launch content. Andromeda died for me because they decided to cancel the post-launch support.

As long as the game feels complete I don’t need support after the fact. Inquisition kinda needed Trespasser to tie together the loose threads, but hopefully they’ve learned their lesson there.
That said, I would love to have more DLC if the game is good, even if it doesn’t strictly need it. I really enjoy this world and these characters and will never say no to more of either.

I don't think it really is that big of a deal as long as the game is good I think multiple play throughs will be more then likely.
But then the only on the other hand is it might make the wait for the next one a little better, if we are getting at least an update here and there, new content to absorb until they get it done. Of course the danger there is that might also make the next game take a little longer.

Very important. Idk why, but if I know that dlc is coming, I enjoy game more and wanna play it trough even more and with many characters 😄 I'm one of those people that enjoyed Andromeda and have many Ryders and was waiting for Quarian dlc. After they told that no dlc is coming, I stopped playing new characters.

More concerned about them getting the base game right. Expansions are great but they're only an addition to the established product. I suppose they could use them to recover if the base game isn't well received, but I don't think that'll be the case. I really hope they explore what the Inquisitor and Hawke are getting up to, if they release expansions.

Hoping we get it but it feels like things like DLC are a thing of the past. Hope I am wrong. Yea hhte onl ygames that have done DLC recently is Sony's games as bot hGod o fWa rand Horizon recieved DLC's. Most companies these days jus treward yo uwit ha bonus pack o rsomething if you preorder .Like ewgo tthos epath finder weapon sor something in Andromeda and we'regettin gthe Bloo dDragon pac kfo rpreordering Veilguard. I don' tknow if I'll use it on my firs tRook but I ma yus ei tdown th eline. Bu tthat willdepend on wha tkind of Rook I'm playing. As I'll likel yplay differen tRooks tha thav diffren tfeelings abou tsuch things. But yea hmos tdon' treall ydo DLC anymore just preorder bonuses. Ithink it largel ywill depend on how well the gam esells though as whils tI think it might do alright there ae rsome oytlets tha ta restil pushing back against Veilguard and even Bioware existin gat all at this point. So unles si tactuall ydoes sell well I don't thin kew'll necessaril ysee any. Ther wil be a team for patching bugs but that's as far as I'd expect them to go. Peoplwe hav eto remember that hte Biowar ewe hav enow is no tthe Bioware who was riding high on the back ME trilog yand Inquisition. The Bioware we have now is practicall yrunning on life support atm. So ma yno thav eth eresources t omak eDLC's withou tdelaying the nex tME game. If Veilguard sells well the yma ydela ylong enou ght omak eon eor be allowed t oexpand again s othe ycan mak ethem. Bu tthat's no tgoing t ohappen before Veilguard releases becaus eEA won't allow it. Bioware need to prove themselves again before they're allowed to start doing things they used to do fully.

I'm hoping for very little, to be honest. I'm assuming there will be 1 or 2 DLC's to close off any cliff hangars they inevitably leave in the Veilguard ending. After that, I'm hoping this chapter is finally closed leaving Bioware the freedom to start a fresh new story (in a new continent).

Post-launch bugfixing of course, but I'd like if they added some post-launch additions like a photo mode (which they seem to be working on but can't confirm it'll be present at launch, so I'm hoping it's a post-launch thing) or additional armor tints and such. Maybe even some free weapons\armors if they can.
As for major DLCs, I'm getting the feeling Veilguard will provide a definite conclusion to its story in its main game, so we won't need post-launch "true endings" DLCs like a Witch Hunt, Legacy or Trespasser were. My bet is, if they ever make post-launch 'big' expansions, it'll be entirely new plotlines that'll run parallel to the main story (think Omega\Leviathan DLC) or, if they feel particularly daring and the game does well enough, some post-main story content that will focus on our relationship with companions.

Optimization patches and bug fixing are a must, just like for any game. Also the introduction of new visual technologies, such as AMD FSR 3 and Intel XeSS (neither of which will be supported at launch).
As far as DLCs go, I am indifferent but mostly negative towards it. I would like to see a feature-complete game first and foremost. Reasonably priced cosmetic DLCs are perhaps an option. Narrative-heavy DLCs are a no-no.

I'm a bit surprised at how some aren't interested in story DLC. Every Bioware game I've played so far at release I've enjoyed enough at the end to look forward to any new stories Bioware wants to tell in that game. I've enjoyed most DLC, there are some exceptions, and typically look forward to them in playthroughs. Trespasser, Descent, Leviathan, Citadel, Lair of the Shadow Broker I love these additions to the games.
Right now I'm still mixed on DAV but if the game is good I would want DLC.
However Bioware have now stated they don't plan on DLC. The statement though is vague enough that there may be DLC or their could not.
If it is true and there is no plans for stories they want to tell in DAV I doubt we will get any then. If the game sells well I don't think they are going to start producing DLC when they could instead get to work on another entry. One of the reasons I like DLC is that the dev cycle for modern games is just so long now. It will be another six years at least I figure before we see another entry. DLC would at least give us something in the meantime.

Assuming I enjoy the game, my preference would be one decent sized expansion, with a proper continuation or new story. Have next to no interest in little DLCs that just add a couple of missions and a reward and about 3 hours more content.
No interest at all in packs that give you better equipment. Particularly if you have access to awesome gear right at the beginning of the game, when you should be trying to upgrade from rusty blunt sword to sharpened rusty sword, and there’s a box right next to you with the divine flaming sword of demon smiting. Gaming crime.
Put all the effort into one expansion and make it worth bothering with.
*cough* Blood and Wine *cough*

I don't love DLC in principle, but in practice BW has been pretty good about quality DLC content- Awakening, Citadel, Trespasser, etc. So I would not object to that at all, provided its worth it.

I always find new story DLC 8 to 12 months after launch to be nice and will usually lead to an additional playthrough at that time, it's not super important to me.
I'm glad BioWare has decided not to do day 1 DLC this time though, I always hate the discourse surrounding that.

I'm always up for more content like DLC or an expansion down the line. I don't know how people can be a fan of RPGs and NOT want the game to be expanded. Unfortunately this seems to be dying out as games take longer to make.

According to a MrMattyPlays interview with Corinne Busche mentioned on gamesradar there will be no story DLC (though she also said "never say never") because something like Trespasser should be part of the main game.
"We really wanted to make it the most complete out-of-the-box package we possibly could, from a player experience, the narrative, and everything else," she continues. "That's entirely our focus right now."
You never know, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
