It usually takes a while before you start getting any trial rewards when you have only a few of them turned on. Also, trials only 'count' when you actively use them, i.e. for grizzly end, it will only add to your count when you kill bears promoted by grizzly end; walk softly only counts when you kill enemies promoted by walk softly (you can see whether an enemy has been promoted in tactical mode). Fair-weather friends only slightly increases the chance of receiving trial rewards. I'd recommend using 'Even Ground' to speed the process up, as it significantly affects the chance of receiving special shipments, and affects every enemey/creature in the game rather than just a fraction of them like Walk Softly and Grizzly End.

Reward drops for Trials a very rare. I had Even Ground, Walk Softly and Grizzly End enabled and I only got maybe 4 drops for the entire main quest. And that included active bear skin hunting. Your mileage may vary.

The only trial I've had on is rub some dirt on it, which makes healing potions worthless. With healing items and the ability to fast travel I've hardly noticed it on normal. It's in effect every time you fight, too.
I turned it on around level 12. Ten levels later I've received about a dozen rewards.

I have always been sure that the trials rewarding system was working actually differently than what you are pointing. i had noticed that the more trials are on, and the more hit points are taken down from ennemies the fastest rewards will pop. So after having seen that topic, which i found pretty interesting, as well as your posts, i decided to find out how this system is actually working. so i went to emprise du lion and found a decent leveled rift (the one on the frozen lake near the starting camp) to farm some ennemies that have enough hp to give me trials rewards quick enough; with only 2 trials turned on: grizzly end and the other one about your teamates approval. - these 2 trials have nothing to do with rifts and demons. - i don't fight any bear - i don't get disapproval or even approval from my companions. After 5 or 6 waves of demons, i get a reward from the trials system. So i think this prooves your post evamitchelle may actually not be correct altough it could have been right And as i already though before, it may be more "ennemies health points related"....the more hp you get down, the quickest you will get rewards. You might all have alreday noticed that the taugher are your ennemies, the faster you will gain rewards. Hope this makes the thread clearer now

How do you farm a rift? Leave when the second wave emerges and don't close it?

Pretty much. I've found if I take too long on a wave (usually when under-leveled vs lvl 12 rifts in the Hinterlands ) then extra waves will spawn.

yes, a very convenient way to gain a lot of a rewards without getting xp when you don't want to level up too fast. you can also easily get the 3 recquired "creature research items" with this method beat the 2 waves, don't close it and leave... but be carefull to grab all the loots with an other character than your inquisitor, otherwise you will interact with the rift and close it by pressing "A" on the controller when looting or jumping.
by the way i have made further testing about this topic, and it seems "evamitchelle" was actually right.
With only one trial active: grizzly end
I have cleared everything in crestwood including all optional quests the whole main story "here lies the abyss" was also complete with this trial on And i farmed about 10 times the nearest rift close to the starting camp in jaws of hakkon
All of that without getting a single reward Maybe i was not patient enough, but still, this represents quite a lot of health points, so i'm wondering if evamitchelle theory was actually correct.
if someone has a clear idea about all that mess, i buy it...

What do you mean? i never got extra waves by taking too long time beating demons.

What do you mean? i never got extra waves by taking too long time beating demons. I've noticed that as well. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's as if you are starting the rift over from the beginning. There's also another way this happens -- if a living demon gets too far away from the rift and you chase after it. If you get a certain distance from the rift, it resets to the beginning. This can happen most often with Despair demons, since they fly away at a random angle. If that angle is directly away from the rift, reset.

I know about the certain distance and despair demons, but not about the time needed to beat the rift.
