It's nothing to do with compatibility mode. EA likes to downgrade that shit from time to time. Been doing that regularly for the last few years at least...  And here I thought it was all a joke, as in the occasional Origin upgrade was actually a downgrade. That's... What I meant, actually. But now I'm lost? |

Did you try Vista compatibility? That's what worked for me on my Windows 7 machine. yep, SP2 iirc Have you properly uninstalled previous Origin? I did it using Revo UninstallerPro(available for 30 days free trial if you want it), but you can do it using method described by lvca. Then run the installer in XP mode, make sure to uncheck all automatic updates and other bullshit options. Run Origin after that in XP mode, double check that all the update options are unchecked. From that point on you can use Origin in W7 compatibility mode. I don't use w7 compatibility since I am on w7 didn't experience any problems so far. As far as I get it, it is important to start it in some compatibility mode to avoid first automatic update, after that you can continue use less-shitty-old-Origin without problems as long as updates are disabled. For installation, I have used installer available via link in the first post by crashsuit. That's how it is done on my computer, hope it helps. |

Nope but i m on W7 already. no idea i should have uninstalled first Just to notify you, I edited the post above. Nothing significant changed, just tried to make it clearer what I wanted to say. I didn't uninstall when I installed the older version, but if my way isn't working, can't hurt to try it his way. I tried your method with renaming Origin folder, but it didn't work. My guess is that Origin sometimes leaves a lot of it computer-AIDS hidden, which can screw some users. |

Ok i did it on my W7 laptop too. I made windows uninstall origin 1*. I manually erased origin Appdata folder in my username hidden doc files and did the same in the other ProgramData root folder (WTF is this one ?) Then installed the origin 9 from this thread in XP SP2 comp mode. It ended with an long 100 Mo update, so i feared i was installing origin 11 or more. But nope. After the second launch, origin 9 smtg was working perfectly and friends were there too ! i.imgur.com/Dvf6VWk.png |

I just found out if you use Win7 and set the compatibility accordingly, do NOT tick the option "keep Origin automatically updated", you can actually keep the old Origin build, tested on my old laptop today. However if you use Win10 there's no luck. With the new Origin I cannot even launch ME1, and ME3 crashes as soon as it gets connected to EA server  Looks like this one is the only gaming software that's consistently getting worse with each new version. |
